Can No Knock Raids be a good Thing?

Yes, citizen! It is vitally important that our law enforcement personnel be able to get the drop on dangerous organized criminals.
And their dogs.

If you have 100% certainty and training to handle such a raid, sure.

I would think this would be used as a last resort. Hit the wrong house, shoot the wrong person, arrive too early or late, the whole thing falls and it'll all be for naught.

No, it often results in someone needlessly getting hurt when an arrest warrant (and actual communication) would suffice.

A friend of mine keeps enough guns in enough corners of the house that any sort of "raid" would result in fire from two sides of the building. I doubt they're the only one.

can? of course. if you're dealing with serious organized crime or terrorism then knocking at their front door and asking "umm sir may we please come in?" is a recipe for disaster.

are they actually a good thing in practice? no, because most cases they're applied to aren't hardcore gangster bosses or islamic terrorists, most of the time it's just random small time criminals or suspects, and dealing with those really doesn't need such a harsh level of preparation and brutality.

Everyone gets hard on the asses of people for abusing SWAT teams, and rightfully so mind you. But I don't see people criticize the police enough for making it way too easy to get a SWAT team out to someone in the first place. When SWATing was really taking off it was dead easy to get one sent from what I understand, which just screams for someone to abuse the shit out of it. This should've been foreseen, the only element that I could believe couldn't be predicted was maybe the scale that it's been done at, but that's about it.

No. As we've seen with quarantine all across the planet, nobody can stay holed up in their house forever. If you're that worried about an armed perp, just wait until they leave and collar them then. No knock raids are dangerous for everyone involved and completely unnecessary.

Only in the most extreme of circumstances, and even then with caution. A while ago there was this absolutely terrifying video posted of some Russian feds busting a CP operation, and that’s when you need to act ASAP, yesterday if you can make it. But that’s the obvious example of when it’s right.
If the police or the feds or the glowniggers or whoever fuck up and kill someone innocent again, they need to be treated as if I broke into someone’s house and killed them.

Why? If you're worried about them flushing the evidence, just put a sewer trap in, problem solved.
It's more a case of meth production being highly volatile. There would be a shit ton of chemicals, so it's in the feds best interest to not get themselves blown up.

But I agree with you for regular dealers, turn the water off beforehand to avoid flushes.
