Can Phil truly redeem himself? - Let's try to be more #DSPAHSITIVE

At this point... considering how much cancer he threw all over the internet .. no!

He could try to do “an hero” tho, there are people out there who would appreciate it

This is how i unironically expect things to end, not because i want it or i hate him but his story follows so many patterns of people who have done the same. He has literally no plans for his future other than to keep dancing for bits and cheers while playing videogames he hates, no investments, no kids, terrible heatlh condition for his age, etc. If you take away his only source of income and literally the only thing he is decent at, then what's left for him?

Despite what DSP would have people believe, his shitty behaviour is not merely a function of the trolling he has to endure. As others in this thread have pointed out, he was a piece of shit long before he garnered e-fame and lolcow status. Now, detractors might have somewhat amplified his heinous attitude (which is understandable), but the way he treats people in general, whether it be his fans, his parents or Leanna ( e.g. the hospital incident) points to him just being an inherently awful and socially inept person.

I think that him stepping down from being a twitch streamer would only marginally change his behaviour (if at all?). He was an asshole before and he'll be an asshole long after his twitch and youtube career has imploded.

I'd like to believe that redemption is possible for every human being, but in the case of Phil i'm extremely doubtful. The guy is just a nasty person.

I feel that the only way Phil would ever be able to get any sort of redemption as a person is when his Twitch/Youtube career completely dies and there's no one left to enable his lazy greed. As long as people keep throwing quarters at him and kissing his ass, he'll never admit that he did anything wrong in life.

Phil has demonstrated multiple times throughout his legacy that he has no intention of changing. Even at his lowest points where it was clear he needed to pursue a new avenue, he stuck with his guns. His pay pigs continue to enable his denial, deceit and delusion. No matter how life sends clear messages to Phil that he needs to change, he won't. He could be on the verge of losing his business with tax season coming up and he will just resort to begging.

Phil would have to change pretty much everything. He would have to stop using buzzwords, learn to limit his social media presence to his stream only, stop parading random hoors on stream, learn to take a joke, embrace the meme, stop begging for money and taking advantage of literal ritards, learn how to budget properly, save money, stop buying dumb, expensive luxury items, stop banning everyone for having a negative opinion, actually answer some of the harder questions, etc...

As Janoy Cresva said, the Leaning Tower of Pisa wasn’t built in a day.

This is all reliant on the supposition that he'd want to change. I've never seen him give a genuine effort of change, I've seen him pretend to change because the spotlight was on his ass, like after his Twitch suspensions. I've seen him be friendlier to subs, but only after receiving hundreds/thousands relatively quickly. Every thing he tries his hand at ends up the same way, simply because his desperation/greed for money inevitably comes into play. This is the man who took $1250 to play games that he swore blind he never would (Minecraft) or ragequit then pretended he never planned to complete (Persona 3).

Of course he could redeem himself, but he'd have to accept that there's something to redeem himself for. I still to this day don't know if he's aware of his many faults. There's days I think he has to be, there's no way a sane person could illicit this kind of autism and not stop and think "maybe it's me that's causing this". I think at the start maybe he did but since then he's deluded himself to believe that everything bad online is just jealous trolls out to get him.

From what I've seen, he doesn't want or feel the need to change. People only ever really change when something major happens, even then change isn't guaranteed. To my knowledge, nothing major has happened to him, and things we would consider pretty big reasons for at least a bit of self-reflection, like our long-time friends having enough and making a video calling us out on our shit, or losing a long-term partner that we were apparently considering marrying. Even these things haven't changed him, not for the better at least, he only seems to be getting worse.

There's also the fact that while most of us don't care what happens to him 1 way or another, there are people out there who will make it their job to trip him up.

The biggest thing he could do right now that would maybe lead to further change, is to stop blocking everyone who says something he doesn't like. Sometimes, those people are telling him far bigger and harder truths than any "fan" of his like fagginz ever could.

If he could separate DSP from Phil/Dave, and make DSP an exaggerated character of some douchebag that thinks he's the best gamer ever, when he fails and rages none of it is his fault, and talked shit to the game and all that....while doing more of his Vlogs where he's actually just a regular dude, I think something like that would go a ways toward him both being more likeable AND probably net him more fans. Extremely :optimistic: I know.

When he's in character, he would HAVE to stop going scorched earth on his chat and banning everyone who talks shit to him. In those couple of videos where Slowbeef was DarkSydeBeef... THAT is what DSP needs to become. An actual character, embrace being a children's entertainer. And, when he wants to have some "real interaction" he can do a super casual stream or a holiday thing where he talks to his viewers and all that where he is Phil/Dave and being a regular human. I would bet he'd go back to making decent shekels and be getting those shekels from more people.

None of this will ever fuckin' happen, though. Nothing he could do.

I think anyone could change for the better and improve their life. Will Phil ever do it? Likely no. Nothing about the things we've learned about Phil's past before he was a thing on the internet indicates that his ego could shrink, that he could self-examine his flaws in a serious matter or that he could self-improve through those examinations.

As for whether or not he could revive his "career" if he did change, that's an entirely different fiasco that has too many factors to take into consideration.

Its hard to be pahsitive about Phil redeeming himself when THE thread for him created five years ago is 3500+ pages long with no end in sight. The end being Phil no longer being a LOLcow.

- Getting caught making penne on stream
- Losing partners
- Constant tax issues
- Losing sleep
- Gout/Back problems
- Hostility towards top tier YTubes

All this and no redeeming qualities about him over a five year period since the thread was made. Nothing has changed and I'm not sure anything will. It will take a combination of twitch suspension and pay pigs being released from the pig pen to make him wake up, but not before he has a long pre-stream about his 10 year legacy in danger and you need to help him before he goes away. Not like there are other YTubers that do what he does infinitely better.

I'll play the game.

The best way for him to turn things around is to dive head first into the detractors. Alot of detractors could be converted into fans if Dave had fun with it.

Let detractors come in your lobby for fighting games. Hell I bet he could even convince Tevin to stream with him as they do a vendetta match in SF4.

Imagine the tips if the highest tipper gets to pick his character against Tevin!

He's literally got thousands of people watching him, all he has to do is have fun with it and he could flip the script.

this was a really rare time where I thought dsp wold turn a corner. he was getting trolled BIG time and just rolled with it and played a long. He was even trolling the trolls by making fun of himself and getting the others to vote for his answer. but then couple days later went right back to becoming a baby at any trolling attempts

In terms of Phil's psychopathology, if his behaviour really does come from Narcissistic/Sociopathic Personalty Disorder, there's a chance it could wane over time. The only thing about Personality Disorders I remember from a Psychology course I once took was that they can remit with approaching middle age (Essentials of Understanding Abnormal Behavior 2nd Edition).

Til the early 2000s, it was believed that Personality Disorders were "set in stone". Studies have since shown that instead they can "wax and wane" over time, regardless of treatment (though they may worsen into "advancing age"). One study saw "saw massive changes in personality disorder features over just four years". Another, breaking the tested disorders into characteristic clusters, showed that those within the "flamboyant" cluster, like Narcissistic Personalty Disorder, "enjoyed significantly better lives over time".

I think one of the main obstacles to hypothetical self-improvement is his inability to admit fault. We all know the classic examples of him finding something else to blame. There's a part in a game he can't get past? It's bugged. He loses in an online match? Laggy connection. Banned from Blip? Other people were jealous of him. Losing views? YouTube's algorithms were screwing him over.

Ultimately, his complete inability to accept any wrongdoing or mistakes on his part is perhaps the most important thing preventing him from ever getting better. If all his problems and failures are because of things he has no control over, why should he try to deal with his toxic attitude, his unskilled gameplay, or his unhealthy lifestyle? The first step to solving a problem is acknowledging that you have one, and if Phil can't do that, he'll continue his downward spiral until he inevitably dies, whether it's from eating a bullet or one onion ring too many.

If he had a lot more money, I think he would just go back to his old ways and be a bigger asshole.

No redemption or change for him.
He would spend that new acquired money so quick he would be back at square one. Nothing would change except more materialistic things to fill his empty "house".

I feel that the only way Phil would ever be able to get any sort of redemption as a person is when his Twitch/Youtube career completely dies and there's no one left to enable his lazy greed. even if phil found himself alone in a shitty apartment, working a job he hates, he would still be the same
except he'd just bitch about how DUH DETRACTORS AND TEVIN TOOK MUH JAHB AWAY AS A QUALITY REACTIONARY 10 YEAR LEGACY STRIMMER DOOD NOTHING I COULD DO!!

he'd ask his boss for a raise every 6 months for MUH BILLS.. and it would work the first time or so. he'd get snarky at his co-workers for asking why does he need so many raises, but then get all submissive bitch mode when the boss throws his weight around. Ask his co-workers to do everything remotely difficult, but then do it himself when the boss is around. then he'd go home and slam some gin and watch TV.
