This may have been a thread already, but could Chris ever lose welfare eligibility? Would whatever he was convicted of be a future snag? I have no idea how welfare eligibility works, but what would it take for him to stop getting checks? Since the tugboat is one of the main things that allows him to continue in his fantasy, I'm interested to see if it could ever sink.

Maybe if he did something to attract more legal attention. They'd have to see he's getting welfare, then see where he's spending it. I believe Bob cheated on some of the paperwork for the tugboat. They could use that against Chris, too.

Surprisingly, not even being convicted of a felony seems to be enough to sink your tugboat. But being a fugitive felon on the run from justice can. That would truly be the ultimate saga.

It will eventually, because eventually Chris will commit another crime. That's almost inevitable. The only question is when it will happen.

Oh I look forward to that day. Not particularly losing the tugboat, but the Where's Waldo-esque search for Chris.

just please not a "scratch n' sniff" where's waldo

I was on a tugboat for six months when I was nineteen after a broke my femur and could not work, less even stand. If he has it for his "disability" then there is a good chance he might just be a welfare worm for a long time. Sadly, the way he behaves and his insane ramblings will just prove his case.
Yet I had to go to school and work with an infected femur and limited supplies of pain pills....
The Autism card at its best.

To the lifeboats!

Sweethearts and electric hedgehog Pokemon first!
Adult autistic children before them!

I don't think the Tugboat will be sinking anytime soon. I even think that when Barb dies the Tugboat will only get bigger.

Chris could even be getting a benifit from the tugboat since he is Barb's "caregiver" Up to 300 more a month.

It doesn't matter where he's spending it.

Nah, that's extremely unlikely.

Edit: Er, whoops, misread this, nevermind.

So that's how the tugboat went up. Interesting. I presume he loses that $300 when Barb dies.

Oh shit, nah, I misread that. Nevermind. I don't know why his tugboat went up after Bob's death.

Where I live, families on welfare can also get benifits when a family member dies and they are not able to cover the expenses. I can see Chris and Barb making the funeral as cheap as possible and keeping the money.
And as a caregiver he can get even more moeny that is meant to be speant on medicle supplies and copensation for time lost.

Yeah, maybe. But wouldn't that be a one-time thing? Well, although, I think I did read something on some tugboat-related site about the amount they get goes up, probably because of inflation or something. So maybe it was just some regular increase that we didn't notice in the past?

I don;t know, beats me. *yawn*

They actually asked for money instead of flowers when Bob died. It's probably not socially acceptable though.

As for sinking the Tugboat, I remember someone saying the most likely way at this point would be if Chris spent a year or more in prison.

Maybe not sink, but it could spring a leak if a chained CPI is part of the "grand bargain" our masters and betters are cooking up for us.
