Can we have a sub forum to talk about guns

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I love guns. We don't need a fucking subforum for it. That's like asking for a subforum that only covers linux.

What are you gonna populate it with? Guntuber cows? A thread shrine to Paul Harrell? Threads fighting over gun taste/tacticool? 3d printing? Gun history-tism? There's already threads that cover several of these. Just use the search feature and post in those threads or make one.

lol I remember us regulars in the programming thread talking about a dedicated subforum for programming a while back, so that's not far off.

I think a gun forum might help. The single thread is difficult to use beyond "here are pictures of my guns, check out this article" type stuff. possibly make the board something like "tools, DIY and outdoors" to host threads about gardening, projects, and maybe car repair/projects as distinct for jacking off about new cars.

I'm here I want to inform you ahead of time that SIG Sauer sucks
Does your opinion extend to new models or does it encompass everything. I had (I still have some) older 1980s models that feel very solid. They're my favorite. I also had a Sig AR that didn't feel flimsy, but the P320 I had didn't feel all that well put together.

As far as a subforum, browsing the thread seemed sufficient. A subforum could make for better organization, but the question of whether or not there is enough engagement to justify an entire subforum comes to mind. I just don't know how many threads you would realistically have. You could group conversations by reloading, building/printing, collecting, political sperging (here be dragons), recommendations. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that trading/selling would open a legal and political black hole that's not worth pursuing under any circumstances. The others though, if each thread has approx. 20 pages, it may not be enough to justify the effort.

Can't you guys just use the Tranch thread, like in the old days? It's been otherwise dead for ages.

What about Ruger?
Rugers are fine. Sigs are fine. Glocks are fine. By the time you get into the $500-$600 range in polymer frame pistols you really can't go wrong. All gun manufacturers have had models that came out with problems. They all end up fixing those problems, usually at no cost to the customer.

Go to a range and rent some of their guns until you find something you like.

Larger frame pistols are easier to shoot because of reduced recoil. Smaller guns are easier to conceal, but have a lot more recoil.

9mm is perfectly adequate. Don't fall for meme calibers that cost twice as much.

If you want home defense then generally long guns are better than pistols. ARs are dead easy to learn and use. Shotguns do significantly more damage per shot, but are significantly more difficult to shoot.

Don't waste a bunch of time watching guntoobers. Most of them just have a product they are selling. Or are low IQ retards. Or both.

Nothing will ever beat getting something, anything, and just going and shooting.

There's 2 more gun threads right after this one on the what's new page! :)

I was banned from one of the few places to talk about them, however, I'm not here to talk about them so much as the retarded personalities around them. One of the mods for that site (Pre' ownership change to a corporation) took high offence that I thought that the fine folks who ran the NRA should be pitched from the back of helicopters like the commies they are, and here we are like 8 years later....

I don't remember which one, but it wasn't the flightless bird.

My guns are at the bottom of a lake tho...

I'd love to see the I/T, Crypto, and Gun areas of the site all become more active tbh.
Please allow a repository for .stls for 3d printing firearms. Theres tons of files that i want people to know everything about. Theres in depth documentation on alot, you can also 3d print suppressors. Building your own firearm is legal in alot of states.

I just wish the current firearm thread was more active, maybe drop CAD shit or something to spice it up
This post glows

So does this one

Please stop recommending null give the ATF and other glownigger organizations more ammunition (haha) with which to do glownigger shit against KF

"guys we need a subforum about ethical hacking and darknet markets :3"

"Exercising both my 1st and 2nd amendment rights glows bro"

Does the gun tuber thread the threads on discussing firearms
you could also put military technology as well so people stop shutting up every other thread with it

Advocating for Kiwifarms to become some sort of repository for files that may or may not place it on an ATF watchlist definitely doesn't glow, you're right.

Null doesn't have enough problems keeping the site afloat and functional without federal 3-letter agency scrutiny.

This would be the best approach to it, in my opinion. While Gun culture as a whole covers a lot of ground, I think a subforum dedicated to it would quickly lose steam.
Are there enough spergs on this site to keep a general weapons subforum active? (guns, classical weaponry like bows & swords, military vehicles both modern/historical, pretty much the stuff that /k/ covers (on paper))
If not, merging it with tangential topics like DIY/Outdoor hobbies would be the next option, I think there'd be enough variety then to keep it from turning into a desert.
