Can you change the graphics card in a laptop?

I forgot to mention I want a computer that can cope with 5 windows open without slowing considerably, as I have lots of docs I like to use for notes and the internet open for research.

What sort of budget are you aiming for?
 
I was going to get a Mac, so I'm saving up for around 2 to 3 thousand maybe.
