We all know that yandev has been pretending to work on his game for the past few years, but his game idea and it's resulting intrerest and popularity is arguably the catalyst that allowed him to live off of patreon and shitty twitch streams for most of that time. Can you come up with a better game idea so you can live off of patreon money?

I personally really like the idea of a game where it's kind of like rust or minecraft, but you have to survive in an empty mall, maybe you can try to figure out how to get renewable food sources from the supermarkets, or build a base out of only the shit you can find in the malls, maybe using shelving as walls, so forth. The common demoninator with all these survivals games is that they are all outside, so what if we had one in a mall? I mean, you could do a lot, you could go in the staff rooms and put your own shitty music over the speakers, you could play with all the kids toys and build autistic things, sky's the limit. There could also be enemies that come out at a certain time that you have to protect yourself against and build barricades and weapons from shit in the stores.

A game using the core mechanic of Hordes

It was a french browser free community based game.

-You start out with 39 others players in a post zombie apocalypse style city.
-Each night at 00:00 the zombies attack the city.
-You need to cooperate with the community to survive.
-However the last players to die receive a week of premium
-It's a pretty good concept because even if the cooperation is central to survive, the greatest achievement and prices are mainly achieved via selfishness.

The game had his moment way back but the fact it's a browser game really held it back. With a proper rebalance and adaptation to the format it could be a great game.

The company that made this game also made dead cell and another game which is incredibly similar to among us before among us tho(I can elaborate if someone ask)

Get this. Japanese man during the 1980s with beast-like abilities from Far Cry Evolution. The guy has to balance fighting crime at night by working during the day as a cashier. Yeah, that's about it. Kinda like Yakuza 0 meets Far Cry Evolution.

In all seriousness, it's difficult to explain what a "good" game idea looks like, but I can definitely explain where the faults are. I can't quite remember the video, but Yahtzee one time explained in game design a lot of western creators get too fixated on the plot and story over the actual primary loop. The primary loop is basically core mechanic (ex. Fallout 4 is go out, kill raiders, loot materials, build settlement and upgrade weapons, repeat).

Yandere sim has the issue of not only having someone lazy working on it, but also not having any idea what he wants it to be. I haven't been following it too closely lately, but from my understanding he started out making a Hitman clone with anime girls and then tried to cram in a bunch of other unfinished features that aren't fully implemented, yet. He has no idea what he wants it to be and is just winging it as he goes along. I'm not saying this type of mentality won't work, but it requires someone who is actually dedicated to seeing everything through to completion. Work on the base game first and then add more things in.

if you want to share more I’d be interested

Here's the game.

Oh btw both Hordes and Mush died this year when flash died.
The dev refunded the premium purchases from the last few months and gave everyone infinite premium concurrency so the games die in style.

Mush was a browser game were you tossed in a spaceship with 15 other players. The game was in real time similar to Hordes

-2 Players are infected by a parasite and have to work together to contaminate and kill all humans
-The humans need to work on a vaccine to cure the alien plague and then go back home.
-Everyone is sus. The human have to work together to survive (food and oxygen) and find out who is infected.
-As time passes the human have more ways to counter the alien plague and ultimately find the vaccine.
-The mush have a lot of way to get rid of humans.(sabotage, poison, depleting the food/fuel/o2, arson or murder)
-There also a lot of way to contaminate them.

It's pretty interesting how mush had an idea very close in concept to among sus.

And how Hordes had a battle royale style idea with dare I say a better reward.
