Question Canadians, is it cool/cold all year around due to being at higher latitudes? Or do the higher latitudes make it warmer during the summer due to the longer summer hours?

tfw I'm just one national border west of Mother Canada. Also it's generally cooler in Alaska due to being so damn far from the Equator and close to the North Pole so I imagine it's generally the same in Canada; the longer summer days/winter nights are also a result of being way up the Northern Hemisphere, when the sun hits the place more in the summer and less in the winter.

Well living on Vancouver Island it is generally warm all year due to the close proximity to the ocean, the downside being that it rains a lot almost all year. The average temperature here is about 10 degrees Celsius, but there is still definitely a noticeable difference between winters and summers, just not as drastic as in the inland regions.

I bet polar bears are only in the northern provinces, right? Not a common sight for the average Canadian I imagine?

American but live in Canada now. Hopefully will be getting my permanent residency soon, I'm eligible to apply in a few months.
