As much as I hate to admit RazorDitz was right about something, he mentioned this exact phenomenon with regards to Mexico - the de facto open border meant that anyone that had the capacity to organize any kind of resistance to the cartels and the incompetence/infiltration of the Mexican gov't simply fucked off to America, and the same thing is happening in Canadia.Canada will never get better because anyone worth a damn will move to the US. There are enough states in the Union for whatever flavor of ambitious Canuck. I live in a border state and only dumb rich girls brag about healthcare or test scores based on one school in Vancouver when it was mostly chinks cheating on standardized test scores.
If I ask them why they are in the US it’s usually the same answer “where I could use my degree/ parents had connections/ pays better”.
It’s really that issue with Canada. Any disgruntled Canadian go over the bridge or border and make something of themselves easier. I’m struggling to find a better paying job in the US, but Canada is more depressing. Both countries have annoying tax benefits to hire foreigners, but the US you still have more chances.
