It’s really that issue with Canada. Any disgruntled Canadian go over the bridge or border and make something of themselves easier. I’m struggling to find a better paying job in the US, but Canada is more depressing. Both countries have annoying tax benefits to hire foreigners, but the US you still have more chances.

As much as I hate to admit RazorDitz was right about something, he mentioned this exact phenomenon with regards to Mexico - the de facto open border meant that anyone that had the capacity to organize any kind of resistance to the cartels and the incompetence/infiltration of the Mexican gov't simply fucked off to America, and the same thing is happening in Canadia.
 
This year was the most money I've made in a single year in my life, and it was the biggest wake-up call to how fucked our taxes are. Legit made me start analyzing the benefits of moving to the US. Too bad I'm 1. A softhearted guy that loves seeing my family multiple times a week and 2. A retard who will just try to put on the blinders to the collapse of society happening around me.

I think the US equivalent of this would be the RINOs and democrats all merging with Blackrock under a POTUS Larry Fink to take all 3 branches and as many government contracts as they can get the ink for. It's an absurdity.

A bit of a relief to be able to ignore Canadian politics now for the next 5 years (or forever). Quite literally there is nothing anyone can do about it that isn't fedposting. What are you going to do, send money to Viva Frei or Ezra Levant? No boomer or liberal voter will be swayed by anything anyone says or anyone's suffering. You won't see any citizen journalism or legitimate activism you might as well become a car thief, serial killer or human trafficker you would be safer from prosecution than criticizing Carney's new regime.

Not the most cheery post but everything else is a footnote now all Carney will do is add more floor crossers and the cost for them will only go down. A 5 year slog as an opposition MP at risk of losing your seat to whatever it is the CCP has planned next election or pull up to the trough of banana republic level corruption.

At this point, all I can do is laugh at the absurdity. Like at the plan to build a high speed rail connecting Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal - $60-90B in taxpayer money, which considering how California’s own HSR has gone and we probably have more regulations and corruption in the way of it?

Look I can’t afford to leave, so I can at least laugh at the absurdity of it all.

Well unlike California, eventually they do get built....just triple the deadline and initial cost expectation ....

Its just ...HSR is useless. There aren't millions of riders eager to ride HSR..just tourists and government workers.

I would start smaller, like an interprovincial road network that actually connects your country instead of a rail to serve as a worse airline. Think of an interstate system where you can go everywhere by road except the one place that's in the middle of the Pacific Ocean and the other place where you have to drive through Canada's shit roads to get to.

While no longer a Direct thru route, the line sorta exists in bits and pieces

The Canada Southern was owned by the New York Central, which then merged with the Pennsylvania Railroad to form, Penn Central, which subsequently imploded and was reorganized by the American goverment under Conrail.

Conrail being a American Goverment entity did not want to use American tax dollars to pay for a Canadian railway and Canadian crews, and so as the 1970s progressed Conrail began investing and improving the existing lines on Lake Eries South shore from Buffalo to Toledo.

In 1985 Conrail intended to finally rid themselves of the line and reached an agreement with both Canadian National and Canadian Pacific where they would take over the CASOs operations 50/50.

The result of this was CN and CP coming to a stalemate over operations as neither railroad wanted to fully pay for the line, but neither railroad wanted the other to exert full control over it and monopolize the Detroit-Buffalo thru traffic, So begain many years of Divestment.

By the start of the 2000s most of the Track had been ripped up between Buffalo and St. Thomas (the halfway point of the line, the CASO's operations were based out of here) and the western half had not seen major upgrades or any kind of improvements since the late 1970s was a ripe target for removal when CN begain using Dark Talmudic Rituals Precision Scheduled Railroading as a way to increase Profitabality.

In current Year+8 all that remains is 20ish Miles near Welland, a small section in Hagersville, the rail museum in St. Thomas and 6 miles in Windsor plus the Windsor-Detroit tunnel (only one tube is still used) amounting a total of less then 30 Miles.

Tbh, after sophie and justin split and justin got with somebody in the hollywood echelon, it definitely felt really off like katy perry was there to cover something else up like its cover for Trudeau is dating another man, but wow! No wonder sophie was going out to get railed by her black "friend" as their marriage fell apart. Justin was too busy pounding his pud to kids.
