It's been completely fucked since the 2010's.
I tried getting into welding about a decade ago and almost no one was interested in hiring first years.
First job was basically "grip it and rip it" prefab working with some thin skinned bitches.
Second job, was "fired" because they were surprised that a first year welded like a first year.
Third job, fired after a week after someone straight up lied and said that I threatened to hit him.
Fourth job, ended up getting laid off when one of the journeymen quit without any notice.
I fucking tried and now I have to deal with fucking migrants willing to do skilled labour for under minimum wage.
I really internalized this.

Before 2008 really, the economy 'functioned' normally. A bit worse than the US, but normal enough. You could still hand in a resume in person and get a job, you could still find tons of independent companies, small mom and pop shops, even random individually owned clothing stores, people were kind of making it in the economy, etc.

Got kind of used to the zombie economy, hundreds of people applying for one job desperately, the last of job positions without experience, noone willing to train entry level people- etc.

It was BS, but it was a BS I was used to and I could get by

Then covid happened and inflation started and I realized that nothing was really secure,

then 4 million jeets suddenly appeared

Things wern't really good before but I can remember thinking in 2019 that I had sort of gotten a grip on things at the time, and the rug literally got pulled out from under me

If you're going to form your own party it shouldn't be at the Federal or Provincial levels where all the time and energy is wasted in protest campaigns. It should be at the Municipal level where each candidate can interface directly with the public and offer them a consistent and winnable 'party' campaign at the local level.

Your chances of getting anyone elected for a municipal position is obviously a lot greater than achieving any success in the uniparty duopoly of the federal and provincial levels.

But there's still a huge hurdle to overcome at the municipal level in that there's still a huge incumbent advantage.

Established councilors are essentially acclaimed every election because there really isn't any competition or race. Voters are uninformed morons who enjoy being on the winning team by simply voting for names they recognize.

Local news coverage doesn't really exist in Current Year. The sources that do are pozzed as hell.

Municipal politics is also just as corrupt and a private club as other levels of politics. Everybody knows everybody, all the actual discussions take place in-camera away from public view and the actual debates and votes on ths council floor are all kabuke because everything has been predetermined.

As soon as a councilor goes off the reservation, the rest of the cabal starts Mean Girling their reputation, the local journoscum start smear campaigns and they start piling up "Integrity" commissioner and Code of Conduct violations.

Remember back in the days where they still pretended to deliver stuff to your door and they'd leave you those fucking "sorry we missed you" slips when you were sitting at home all day?

I used to really enjoy heading to my local Canada Post outlet with the "Missed You" slip in hand, only to be told that your package rides around all day with the mailman on his truck day-after-day.

So you have the added pleasure of being told to come late night multiple times in the hope that your parcel MIGHT be unloaded someday after he goes home from his shift.

Fall update has been delayed until Monday. Government trying to cut HST off some items and give everyone $250 to spur spending. Rumors of tension between Freeland and Trudeau. Bank of Canada cutting rates by another 0.5%. They are outright telling us the Canadian economy is absolutely fucking cooked. It's over, boys. Stock up on Mr Noodles and cans of tuna.

I keep hearing that Canada should counter the tariffs with tariffs. I think that is dumb as fuck. Our population is too retarded to understand why these tariffs are coming. I remember when Trump got voted out, our limp dick PM started to shit talk Trump though out the Biden presidency over such superficial bullshit like the US's internal policy during the Trump term. He could not just let go and started to moral grand stand over Trump and his supporters.

Well Trudeau, now he is back in and has a chip on his shoulder because you were acting like a moral faggot for the past four years and he is coming for some payback. I said it before and I will say it again, our PM should bring him to the table and negotiate something that is beneficial to us and the US. But no, our ministers are calling him a convicted felon on interview, and all the other horseshit. Yea great idea, let just insult the president elect before he gets into office. That will surely help us avoid the incoming tariffs.

If I hooked up his dad to a generator, it would power the parliament buildings due to how much spinning he is doing in his grave. Fucking retarded government.

It is dumb as fuck, the vast majority of our production goes to the US. Due to the dollar, we don't import a lot because it's expensive, the entire economy is built around it. It is also due to how our economy is set up, not much cheaper to build things in Canada vs the US. With taxes, power, various unions, and regulatory issues. Canada eats up the difference vs the American dollar. Now Trump is fucking with him, and he has nothing. What does Canada bring to the table? A smug sense of self satisfaction? How can we retaliate? No more McCains fries? No more Crown Royal and various ass tasting whiskies?

Like he had to know this was coming eventually and yet no one made any plans.

Stock up on Mr Noodles and cans of tuna.

For me I like to go with the bulk packs of Buldak. The Spice makes the meal last longer.
If you have a gook market near you
Unironically this. This is for everyone in this thread but Asian grocery stores are your friend in this economy. They have fresh produce way cheaper than literally any main supermarket. I accidentally spent $5 on 3 tomatos at freshco because I was in a rush.

Kinda late on this, but I can give a first-hand confirmation that there has been a noticeable increase of rats over the years. In the several decades I've been alive, I've never had to leave out so many mouse traps nor have I had to start storing food in plastic tubs.

I was speaking off-the-cuff; what I mean by municipal level is not just City Hall, but all city-level orgs.

Unions, yacht clubs, HOAs, school boards, whatever.

And that you go in not as some secret agent hoping to turn that institution inside-out (it's own procedures will stump you every step of the way) - but as a representative for Your Party, which espouses certain values, and only ever wants to trend things a certain way.

Basically the Tea Party 2.0. They had a lot of success before fading away. Though in this case, I'm suggesting an actual organization, and not just a movement. Something with stamina and leadership, that can be donated to.

Except T&T, which is not your friend but another thing owned by the evil Galen Weston.

If they cost $5 at FreshCo, one of the cheapest grocery chains, I shudder to think what they'd cost at Roblaws.

Canadian politicians are just completely retarded. Honestly, I wouldn't mind a fucking military coup right now and replace all premiers with governors and establish super right wing dictatorship. This country is fucked completely.

Lmao you can't do that shit. You can't just cut off energy export like that.
I hate the fat retard Doug Ford so much.

It's frankly astonishing how far Canada has declined compared to 15 years ago. Still, if the US annexes Canada I can look forward to unlimited mars bars and Tim Hortons.

On a different note, I remember being told by a history professor that Pierre Trudeau used to like wearing an SS uniform. Apparently he was into motorcycle gangs when he was young.
