All these "save the planet" schemes are just weaponised empathy to manufacture consent of the poor to foot the bills of the rich.

There is too much debt. You can either: go to war to capture more capital, declare all debts void, or tighten your belt. Going to war, yeah they'll do that and they're doing that right now in the Ukraine. Declaring all debts void, no they won't do that because they are invested in the debt. Tightening the belt, well if you tighten your belt two notches then that's one notch for you and one notch for them.

This is the motive, by the way, for why your own governments want you castrated, gay, and cancelled. They need you to suffer your burden but they want you to suffer theirs too. It's not just some cartoon villian.

Conserving the environment is good and right. You want to do this. This is why they weaponise your empathy towards this end. You don't want to kill grandma, you don't want to poison the water. I would argue that it is not so much as weaponizing people's empathy as it is weaponizing their narcissism, laziness, and stupidity. My feelings have long been that many Canadians care more that the rest of the world sees us a "big player" on the world stage without putting any work into it. That it how you have the Liberals and their TruAnon drones contorting logic to such degrees that they believe that there is no business case to sell natural gas to Germany, but there is one for the Canadian government to grease the palms of a German corporation with $13B to build a battery factory that will only create 3,000 direct jobs. One harsh lesson I have learned is that we Canadians are not nearly as empathetic has we promote themselves. There is very much a "screw you, I've got mine!" culture that permeates throughout Canadian culture, and many Canadians will sell out their family and friends for a sliver of recognition.

Essentially Newfoundland has no county system of any kind, so these vast unincorporated areas exist all over the province with no form of local governance, bylaws, building regulations or property taxation. If you own land in one of these areas, you could build a house and never have to get a permit. There was a huge lobby by some groups to introduce 25 regional governments, and the provincial government has now officially rejected it. If you buy a lot for $10k 25 minutes outside St. John's and want to live in a 12x16 off the grid shack with an outhouse and a woodstove, nobody can say shit to you. This is a huge win for freedom. It may be still doom and gloom for Canada in the next few years but I'm pretty optimistic that a lot of them will realize the real way to get rid of tyranny isn't by voting, but by disobedience with the government. The government is completely powerless when the majority are dissidents and any of their intimidation and pressuring becomes completely useless with the masses. Both the left and the right will eventually realize that none of the political parties in Canada would even give a shit about them even if they make promises like if they're the voice of reason (Maxime Bernier seems like the most reasonable candidate but I don't trust him completely). I don't know if it's the first time I mentioned Akira Kurosawa's film Seven Samurai on this site but it is one of my very favorite movies of all time. A village in Japan had their grains ransacked by an authoritarian faction and many of the townspeople become Samurai and put in planning to outsmart the authoritarians in a brutal fight.

Spoiler: The Ending

The Samurai managed to completely destroy the faction and got out with just three samurai remaining. They also mentioned that they done it for the people of the village in one of the best endings in cinematic history.

If anything, Seven Samurai is a very important film that tells you that it's worth dying just to completely overthrow the authoritarians but it also tells you that you need to apply this logically, overthrowing one government by violence isn't enough because it's just gonna be replaced with another shitty government and just make the freedom fighters doomed to be labelled extremists by the legacy media and the government would further make their lives worse. I'm tired of being preached about "generational trauma" and how disadvantaged the First Nations are. Immigrants from Brown countries like India, Pakistan, the Philippines or Iran, as well as the Chinks and Nigerians can often find success in Canada despite "barriers" like language or coming from poorer backgrounds themselves. The problem is that Canada uses the "diversity" argument to encourage the country's "melting pot" and embracing everyone's cultural heritage. Nothing wrong with remembering where you're from, but it often means people many turn a blind eye to the fact that immigrants from shitholes in Asia, Africa and so on do NOT gaf about Western values/customs.

I've seen highly "educated" professors/academics downplay all the fuckery that goes on in the cultures of Asia/Africa/other non-Western regions because they don't want to offend their "diverse" audience.
