My mother's friend in University who she later met up with again years later and kept in touch with long term married a native guy who was adopted by a white couple. So the marriage went bad and the abuse and alcoholism reared its ugly head and the woman had to re-locate out of their apartment with her three daughters in 2000. Even though her daughters were only half native (Cree) they instantly jumped the list for immediate government housing due to Indian status. This was at a time when public housing stock became insanely scarce under Mike Harris. But they got it right away.

All the girls had their university paid for by the government or heavily, heavily subsidized with generous grants. The one bought a home with her husband in 2015 and got a downpayment assistance due to her native status. All three sisters are doing well in life and their mother has a forever home in form of a government subsidized townhouse.

This all would have never happened or ended as well as it did if it wasn't for their native status. Being Native in Canada has more advantages than being any other minority group.. or being poor and white. They aren't being truthful when they say the government does nothing for them.

Speaking of Chuggs wanting Gibs. Vice News just released a 20 minute asking why so many Injun women are going missing (and murdered).

Spoiler it's because of White Nationalists / Supremacists who (checks notes) are going into the Eastside of Vancouver (which they claim is the largest unofficial reservation) and picking up Chugg prostitutes to murder them. One interesting quirk to Native education funding is that it's not some behemoth of a federal bureaucracy with uniform rules.

The feds seem to allot a certain amount of funding to each individual band. Thereafter, some nepotistic band administrator gets to decide who gets to go to school and who doesn't.

I'm not sure if it's better or worse.

But it's kind of shocking that some random friend of the chief gets to effectively decide social mobility for generations to come on a whim.

Meanwhile cigarette packages have straight up gore printed on them, but all smokers I've known are perfectly functional people. It's lunacy, but to be expected of the west coast at this point even if it was just a protest.

I am so tired of "safe supply" and "harm reduction" policies and activists, aka "treat junkies with the kid gloves and never hold them accountable". None of these policies have worked and the drug issue has only grown in severity nationally. Activists hate the so called drug war, yet things have only gotten worse after so called drug war policies were relaxed and the criminal justice system stopped taking such crimes seriously.

More than once I've joked with people that maybe it's time for "harm maximization" to start getting rid of the fucking degenerates strung out on the streets, living in our parks, hurting our communities, and hurting (sometimes killing) good people.

The area of town I'm in is so bad they have the shut down the shelter and move it. The city will move it to the rich end, already many have been up in arms about the issues these practices bring. Everyone knows giving addicts drugs is retarded. As long as it doesn't come to their front door it's not an issue though. That's the common mindset.

There is no election that would ever, ever fix the issues we face. There is where I just can't get onboard with a lot of you guys. There's nothing wrong about his personal background, people 'race mixing', and we don't need to return to 'tradition' to fix the country.

Looking backwards and hoping for the past is a doomed strategy and isn't something most people actually want. A lot of issues in this country could be taken care of quickly if any level of government had even the mildest of interest in doing so, but some of the issues we're facing are going to be really painful to fix from an economic perspective (we're definitely going to repeat the 90s recession).

I swear people who complain about gays, abortion, and race can't analyze complex problems so they fall back onto typical boogeymen as scapegoats for bigger issues.

Anyway my husband thinks he is just riding the fence cause he wants to get elected and may fulfill his promises if elected.
I strongly disagree and see the writing on the wall and in Canada we have no right or left. Just left and really left. So outside of the PPC who will never get elected because unfortunately most of Canada will never vote for a québécois we are stuck in this cycle of futility until society fails.

This is a common issue. People don’t know how to decompartmentalize these issues and put many small minor talking points together. This isn’t about hating a group of people for what they look like. There is active plot against Canadians to undermine everything they stand for. We are being taken advantage of at every single avenue by asylum-seekers and illegal immigrants. Which actively puts the cohesion of this country at risk. I have seen high trust communities completely fall into chaos, backstabing, criminal cesspools. The smallest of cities are having the worst outcomes. There are huge problems festering that our government are completely covering up.

Correct. Progressive Conservatives are on the left side of un unbiased political chart. PPC will never win because zoomers attention spans can’t last long enough to listen to a French guy slowly speak English.
