Canada is a failed state

How could they even enforce that? Couldn't I just navigate to a porn site based outside Canada? E.g. all of them. I may not be the most technologically literate person in the world but I genuinely have no idea how requiring ID to access online porn could even be remotely practical.
I don't think banning VPNs is even possible from a technical standpoint without making encryption illegal.

If I have an encrypted connection to a server in another country over an obscure port, they have no idea what that traffic is. It could be a VPN, I could be connecting to my company's FTP server, I could be just playing an online multiplayer game.
castro's bastard has openly stated that it admires the chicom dictatorship.
Therefore, any methods employed by the chicoms will slowly begin to appear in Canada.

The goal is to keep 12 year olds from accessing unlimited porn by googling "boobies" not to prevent any workaround
The goal is to normalize digital ID. The conservative angle is "protecting kids", the liberal angle is "hate speech extremists". Whoever you vote for, you eat the same bowl of shit. So Canadians should get ready to "own nothing and be happy".

I think this is the end goal as well. They want use to use some kind of digital token unique to you to sign into the major social media sites and whatnot. It's not going to apply to every little forum or Mastadon instance, but we are rapidly approaching a point where the government of Canada expects you to use a digital ID to use big sites and services like Facebook, Snapchat, Pornhub or Tinder.

but I suspect the government will criminalize VPN usage someway along with other methods to change your IP.
This isn't really possible. Power levelling a bit but for example, whenever you sign on to a company's network (Equitable, Manulife, Sun life) to work from home- you are on the company's VPN, regardless of what it is called.

Theres no way to just ban VPNs outright.

Basically this.

China gets around it not by banning VPNs, but by making sure that all the web server providers require ID to sign in to the website;

But its not something that anyone can really do in any practical way, because too many jobs use VPNs, and on top of that theres really no effective way to even track who is using a VPN, because its just an encrypted tunnel, and you literally need that for everything online.

The state of this country is beyond depressing as someone who's lived here my whole life I don't see anyway of actually making things better by going through the political system like at all how the fuck is the average person supposed to do anything?

First they came for the Racisms
And I did not speak out
Because I prefer to post them online
Then they came for the Guns
And I did not speak out
Because I did not have Guns
Then they came for the Oil
And I did not speak out
Because I did not work in Oil
Then they came for the Truckers
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Trucker
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for coom

Can post pics, but yeah: Canada is a failed state. Toronto is like something out of a dystopian near future thriller.
I was in downtown Toronto on my way to friend's wedding in the Niagara region in 2019 and didn't notice anything terrible, but I was making a beeline from the train station to the bus depot so I wasn't paying close attention. Was this something that accelerated in the last few years?

Vancouver is even worse from what I hear and that the rot of East Hastings spread to the rest of the city. All of Canada's cities--both big and small--have seen the homeless problem get worse. I noticed it here in Calgary as I see people pushing carts full of trash in the downtown core and the outlying areas. People were even setting tents along the highway and addicts loiter around my place of work so they can shoplift from us and fence the goods for their next hit. Even my old hometown of Lethbridge is seeing it too and is in the "top" 15 of the crime severity index, though we've long had people coming off the nearby rez to drunkenly roam the streets.

Power levelling a bit but using VPNs in this manner is increasingly an anti pattern. If your org isn't using a zero trust model now it will be eventually.

And correct it's not possible to ban VPNs and I don't believe it's worth considering that with relation to anti-porn legislation. The legislation I've seen implemented elsewhere extends the in-person ID age check you would have for in-person purchases of 18+ items (porn, beer, cigs, etc) online. Sites that don't follow this could face legal action but there'd be too many to really go after them so only the big ones would comply, meaning again googling "boobies" means the first 10 pages of results at least would all be behind the age check because they are pretty well all PornHub and like 2 other companies due to SEO. That alone would be a massive improvement over what we have today.

Like I said, Canada is being used a testing group. Destabilize and eradicate a strong developed nation from within. It’s the perfect storm, all our systems operate with legal loopholes that the rich and powerful have been abusing for decades.

It’s likely a ploy to tax Pornhub since isn’t it a Canadian company

Like what Trudeau did by making Facebook pay CBC and other failing news outlets because regular people share links on Facebook.

I talked to my father about this once and he mentioned that the timing would have to be perfect for it to happen. PET married Margret on March 4, 1971 and Justin was born on Christmas that year so the window for Castro to impregnate her was narrow and I don't know if Trudeau Sr. made any state visits to Cuba at that time.
You can do a hell of a lot within a tight timeline. Maury has sustained itself with content for decades on that fact.

The reactions in this thread remind me a lot of Americans online, when I say it really is not that bad here and that they probably are just a fuckup and that's why life sucks so much for them.
If you had to go back in time to the mid-late 18th century, you probably couldn't ask to be dropped into a better place on earth than the American colonies, especially New England. Close to modern life expectancy, high literacy rates, comparatively low incidents of major diseases relative to Europe/Asia/Africa, wars generally being fought at a comparatively small militia level, a comtemporarily unprecedented amount of freedom of thought with a vibrant exchange of intellectual ideas. Even France in the late 1780s, while highly disfunctional in many ways, wasn't anything even close to the cartoonishly medieval depiction it's portrayed as by typical polisci freshmen.

Society doesn't need to devolve to the level of Haiti to make angry opposition, even violent opposition, justifiable. Sometimes it just needs a distant, uncaring ruler exploiting a broken political system ramming bullshit economic policies on the plebian masses and locking the doors when they raise objections.

man the male imbalance is gonna really fuck canada even more. this country importing millions of people intolerant to all these lovely canadian priniciples. i wonder whatll happen to all the gays and trans when the streetshit tsunami washes over their places of employment and they get fired. what level of rape and violence towards the women this country panders too so much will get actual worthwhile action. or maybe the truth is that this whole fucking lgbt shit was a huge facade padding the pockets of the rich was the only thing that matters

i was removed from the competition at birth, all i have is maid or the streetshitters merk me for being white

You could partner up with one and have cute kids. A lot of them are very interested in a white boy like you and Indian women are generally pretty friendly.
We are already in a dictatorship its just not been annouced yet.
Ah yes, the dictatorship of free elections in a country on the verge of a major loss for the current governing party.
Canada is ranked #13 most democratic of all countries on earth fyi.

True. That's why I said criminalize. Making it illegal to use one is broad, but make using one or some other method to change your ip in connection with circumventing the law (accessing pornography without face id, posting 'hate', moving crypto, piracy, etc.). Very doable. Every VPN keeps logs... kill switches and ipv6 are a lot to stake your freedom and sanity on and it's beyond most VPN customers to rig their own fail-safes or buy a VPS anonymously and make their own.

Just a hypothetical since they are already bringing VPN talk into committee. Whether they would be competent enough to drive everyone back into the woods to look for porn with a Starlink Sat. I doubt it but the point is to normalize digital control and discourage unlucky people by making examples.

The male imbalance doesn't really affect Canadians since it's all browns and interracial marriage is statistically rare even in this day and age. And no, I don't consider non-whites to be Canadian, even if they have Canadian citizenship.
