I honestly think the west is headed toward this weird corporate autocracy where government becomes extremely weak and ineffective, and gigantic global corporations wield an inordinate amount of power over day to day life. For example, roads getting built and maintained through public-private partnerships where a private company gets paid by government to build and maintain a road. That company gets bought by Google or Blackrock or some shit and all of a sudden Google or Blackrock is in control of your road, and one of the snow clearing shifts gets cut to help fund paying dividends to shareholders or to pay for diversity initiatives.

It's just typical tyranny. Government and corporations run eachother.

I'm in a weird situation where my values haven't changed a whole lot in my adult life, but over the last 20 years the Overton Window has shifted and I find myself on the right. A stance like "I don't care if you want to cut your dick off. It is none of my business" was a left wing view 20 years ago, but it puts you slightly right of centre now. In 2024, the progressive value is active support of LGBT causes as opposed to just taking the view that other people should live their life how they see fit and it is none of your concern. Similarly, "Mass immigration hurts the working classes," "You should grow your own food if you can," "Big corporations should get the fuck out of politics," and "We should put local businesses first" would have been a left-wing viewpoints 20 years ago, but are now bizarrely right-wing ones. I think this is probably just what happens when you start to get old.

NDP homo is in one of the changing ridings when the map is updated in April and will not win re-election. He is resigning before the March 31st pay increase and doesn't seem to want to ride out his MP salary before jumping ship. The commentators suggest it's because an election is coming way sooner than people think. Could also be another mega scandal, etc. Just speculation but strange stuff and over the top homo behavior even for Canadian parliament.

My personal theory is that Stephen Harper's rise to Prime Minister broke the Canadian left because I remember how the chimped out over every small thing (like $16 glass of orange juice) and made repeated claims that he was a petty dictator. They had long upheld the myths that Canada was a progressive utopia that could claim moral superiority over the United States, the Liberals were the natural ruling party, and that the NDP was the conscience of parliament. Dion and Ignatieff were unable to unseat Harper so the LPC turned to Justin Trudeau because of his family name among other superficial traits and elected him leader of the party in 2013.

The LPC wins a majority in 2015 and the bulk of their efforts has been to insure that they will remain in power in perpetuity, assisted by the NDP who still believe in the progressive myth and the nationalist Bloc Quebecois. Trudeau is clearly a narcissist with messianic delusions and I wouldn't be surprised if he's also a sociopath. His main desire is to not only control his party, but also micromanage the lives of all Canadians and reshape the nation into his twisted image. In doing so he has thrown multiple people under the bus to hold on to power, which includes the likes of Jody Wilson-Reybould, Jane Philpott, Bill Morneau, and Anthony Rota. As such, he has shifted the Overton Window so far to the left that even Chretien/Martin Liberal are now right-wingers.

Frankly, Justin Trudeau gives off shades of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho to me. He is clearly growing more unhinged after his recent visit to Alberta where he ranted about "subversive" forces undermining the legacy media during a talk with podcaster Ryan Jesperson. Oh, he has Manson-like cult of personality around them that are just as paranoid and psychotic, but it's becoming readily apparent that the wheels are coming off his delusions and that no amount of platitudes will stop what is coming.
