I agree with this in most cases, but it heavily depends on the circumstances. Once someone "just doing [their] job" starts infringing on my basic human rights and dignity, all bets (aside from violence and personal insults) are pretty much off. It's called basic civil disobedience; it doesn't always have to get ugly. Even when I'm mad, like when I send sharply worded messages to government institutions like Health Canada over their airport scanners and lack of citing sources in their published "research", I can be quite reassuring to those I know are not directly responsible. That said, I'm not giving in or apologizing for wanting to be treated with basic dignity and respect.

Call me a schizo, but I sincerely hope everyone involved in this activity hates what their life has become and feels dread any time they are reminded of how actions just like theirs got us to where we are now. Their actions are what's really undignified. At some point, it needs to be such that no employees will want to go through the hassle, so they take their complaints to their higher-ups who can do a cost-benefit analysis on harassing legitimate customers and potentially losing them along with their "valued" employees, or said employees can find employment elsewhere in a place that will treat them with even a single crumb of dignity. I completely agree. Over time, I came to realize that you really can't expect much from the average person. Honestly, it's getting to a point where you can hardly trust most people to dress themselves properly, spell small words, or tie their own shoes. When I first heard about that voice verification shit while calling for something else, I immediately demanded they turn that shit off before proceeding with the primary matter. Companies like this always have the nerve to ask why you don't want to participate in their loyalty programs, self-checkouts, AI models, general rackets, etc. When the guy on the phone asked me why I wanted it off, my answer was "because I want it off." It's that simple. Don't play their games.
