MPs 'wittingly' took part in foreign interference: national security committee​


OTTAWA -- Soon after they were elected, some Canadian members of Parliament began "wittingly assisting" foreign state actors, says a report released Monday — including sending confidential information to Indian officials.
The report from a committee of MPs and senators with top security clearance says Canadian spy agencies produced a body of intelligence showing foreign actors cultivated relationships with both MPs and senators.

The National Security and Intelligence Committee of Parliamentarians was asked to assess foreign interference in federal electoral processes, including meddling attempts in the last two elections.

It found Canada's overall response to meddling attempts has been inadequate, and "troubling intelligence" suggests some parliamentarians participated in efforts by other countries to interfere in Canadian politics.

The report cites what it says is a particularly concerning case of an unnamed MP who maintained a relationship with a foreign intelligence officer.

It says the "then-member of Parliament" sought to arrange a meeting with a senior intelligence official in another country and "proactively" gave the intelligence officer information that was provided in confidence.

The committee concluded the government still hasn't implemented an effective response to the problem of foreign interference, even though it has done the necessary policy work and gathered the intelligence it needs.

It found that foreign countries "conduct sophisticated and pervasive foreign interference specifically targeting Canada's democratic processes and institutions, occurring before, during and after elections and in all orders of government."

China and India are the "most active perpetrators," the report says.

"These activities continue to pose a significant threat to national security, and to the overall integrity of Canada’s democracy."

The committee provided federal ministers with the report in March. They were then required to table a declassified version within 30 sitting days.

Democratic Institutions Minister Dominic LeBlanc said in a statement that the government disagrees with aspects of the report, including how pieces of intelligence were interpreted.

Asked about the allegation that an MP sought a meeting with a foreign intelligence officer, LeBlanc told reporters that "certain information doesn't have the caveats that some of the intelligence documents that we would see have."

The report cited "particularly concerning examples of behaviour by a few parliamentarians," some of which it said may be illegal.

"Regardless, all the behaviours are deeply unethical and, the committee would submit, contrary to the oaths and affirmations parliamentarians take to conduct themselves in the best interest of Canada."

It cited examples of parliamentarians accepting benefits from other countries "knowingly or through willful blindness," and responding to direction from foreign officials to "improperly influence parliamentary colleagues or parliamentary business to the advantage of a foreign state."

The report takes aim at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for not approving, as recommended, a better briefing strategy that would include all parliamentarians.

It said that initiative would have been simple to implement, and the committee "considers the prime minister’s lack of action on this recommendation to be a serious omission."

It’s honestly refreshing seeing the comments on the video - honestly the fact YouTube hasn’t hidden them feels like a minor miracle - are echoing things that’re close to what we’ve been saying ITT.

I feel like the Pajeets need a reminder that when the sorry’s stop, the war crimes start. Unfortunately the Modern Leaf isn’t built of the same stuff that the Old Canadians were when they made most of the Geneva Checklist, but the fact people are starting to push back is a sign that patience is running out for the Average Leaf.

I initially dismissed this as right wing sperging without looking into it. But I read on immigration rates and HOLY SHIT, it's civilization ending bad. The last place I expected to have a ton of anti-immigrant sentiment was r/Canada.

Here is the thing. Birth rates across the world have been collapsing. It's not just Europe or the Americas anymore. China kneecapped itself with the one-child policy, which plunged their birth rate to 1.4 per woman. Given how the PRC lies about everything, it is most likely even lower than that. Given how that living conditions there and economic prospects ar abysmal, I can see the regime there collapsing. Same for Russia. India's birthrate has fallen to slightly below replacement level. Africa is the only continent that is above replacement level, but there will be a mass die-off if supply chains that bring agricultural products collapse.

The Century Initiative is a fool's errand because it's impossible to plan out the economic development of a nation decades in advance. However, the neoliberal elite that Trudeau, Barton, Carney, and the other pinheads in charge of the initiative enact policy under the assumption that humans are perfectible through social conditioning and ultimately interchangeable. It never occurs to them that the myriad groups and their constituent individuals have their own beliefs, goals, and desires that conflict with each other's. Social cohesion will weaken as a result as these most of these immigrants have no vested interest in the welfare aside from what they can extract from this nation's corpse.

None of this is consensus. It is policy imposed on the plebs by clueless patricians who have no idea of what goes on at the bottom of the pyramid and instead drag the masses into their psychotic delusions. All of it will be for nothing as the subsidy economy Trudeau forced on us will implode. Word will get out that Canada isn't the utopia it promotes itself as (albeit too late to reverse the damage) and is in fact a soulless and exploitive system, then the worldwide population collapse will end any notion of increasing Canada's population to 100 million.
