well I'm not even Canadian so. Besides, whining about immigration has accomplished absolutely nothing throughout the western world
While that is true on the surface, I would also consider this. The whining is an indication that people are becoming cognizant of the fact that something is fundamentally wrong with the country. Canada is one giant pressure cooker where the government and institutions increasing said pressure through immigration, neoliberal economic, and far-left social policy. I was born in the the mid-80s and my (and future) cohorts were all promised so many things if we did all the right things such as get a good education and work hard. We could have our own homes and build our own families, but that isn't happening and is unlikely to ever happen. House prices in our cities have made that impossible as has cost of living, which is creating at least two generations of disillusioned citizens.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if we had functional institutions, but no, we don't. Law enforcement and courts only selectively enforce the law on ideological lines. Our courts aren't able to prosecute murderers and rapists, but they are are able to bring the full might of the state down on mischief charges. Healthcare is imploding with increasing wait times no matter how much money is thrown at it and while it is a provincial responsibility, the federal government still partially funds it. Oh, and the interest on the debt Trudeau accumulated? The federal government spends more on servicing the debt than it does on healthcare or the military. Adding more immigrants who have no stake in the nation's well-being only exacerbates these problems.
(Trudeau also promised $10/day childcare, but that doesn't even really exist. Meanwhile, the federal dental and pharmacare plans were half-assed efforts to appease the NDP. Jagmeet Singh, being as craven and weak as he is, took the deal despite getting nothing out of it other than constant humiliation.)
Also consider how many of these newcomers are treated better than citizens born here or had immigrated here decades ago and worked their nose to the grindstone to make a life here. Our federal government is willing to spend hundreds of dollars of day to house some inbred bumpkin from Gaza in a hotel and feed them, but spends about a tenth of that on a pensioner and would find it more convenient to offer them MAiD. All of this is under the guise of being more compassionate and humane of those "nasty Americans" to the south when the mandarins in Ottawa are the ones who are exploitative and callous.
Whining in only the start as people will take action as conditions grow worse. The federal government demonstrated that it won't tolerate dissent from the rabble in 2022 and they don't really offer any vision for the country other the mirage of progress. Citizens like me? We have no emotional stake in this country. The radicals running the asylum destroyed any pride this country had in its history to emphasize the bad while erasing the good. There is no real motivation to be productive since the taxman will take that away so that political class will use to fund their lavish lifestyles and pay off their friends while scrimping on the programs they champion. Social cohesion will break drown and it is a distinct possibility we'll see nativist lynch mobs and immigrant mobs fighting each other as law and order erodes.
I--for my part--see myself as an Albertan first and Canadian last because the Canada I recognized died after the 2015 election. While I wouldn't raise a hand against it, I wouldn't expend any energy into saving it either because the nation is a lost cause at this point. I'm not overly enthusiastic about Alberta separation, part of me believes that it would be better for western Canada to seek annexation to the United States because I believe that they have a better chance of surviving the Crisis of the the 21st Century. Eastern Canada is too sclerotic and archaic in its thinking to adapt to changing global trends.
