I completely agree the conservative party is dogshit. Im saying rank voting would destroy any chance an honest ideological conservative right wing party would have in this country. It would only embolden candidates and political parties to go even further left in fact because that's who would be deciding elections.

Truth of the matter nothing is going to change until we have our own populist counter revolution but that wont happen because the avr Canadian is completely clueless about the real battle that the modern citizen faces on a daily basis.

Trump isn't the best solution either.

If you look at what he's doing down south, with the golden visa, with kowtowing to musk and letting in millions of Indians,

Dismantling the US government to basically loot it, etc- we shouldn't applaud the dude.

I actually wanted him to drain the swamp and it deserves to be drained, but he's literally also draining it into the pockets of billionaires. I've yet to see how this is going to turn out in the end, and there is some schadenfreude in watching the deep state literally squirm while Trump gives his tech bro buddies tax breaks;

But in another sense, I don't see much option for Canada other than Trump. The same way the American deep state was corrupt, our Laurentian elites are as well.

I'd like to see the monopolized Canadian market actually open up to competition, and for our business-politics cartels to die off. Thatd be a step forward in my opinion, and the only way that's happening is with economic integration with the US. Imo, an EU like organizations that still gives us sovereignity.

For Canadians protesting that, they have no right. If US companies are willing to drill for oil up north, I'd rather they do it than the Chinese. If Canadians wants to move or work south, we have an entire generation that can't get jobs because of Indians. Keep your healthcare, your governor if you want, but give people choice and beef up the economy while you're at it.

There are problems like the Indians, and I think it will be unpopular, but we're going to have to live with it for awhile now. Maybe said population would diffuse better into a population 10x our size. What you can do in the meantime is to insulate yourself, try to avoid living in neighbourhoods or cities full of them (Brampton) etc.

Conservative or Liberal matters less to me because they've bought into the status quo and embraced Indian voters. I think acceleration for the liberals may unironically be the way to go if the conservatives refuse to address immigration, but who knows. I'm a rando on the internet.

Regardless, the one thing that I would take a stand on is the US. On that, it's unequivocally stupid, asinine, and self destructive of Canadians to not want to link up, let alone constantly shitting on the US.

Want to spend 4 years shitting on Trump and calling him a fascist? Congrats Trudeau, trump hates you and doesn't want to negotiate with a two faced pansy. Want to boo the American anthem at a hockey game? Kudos, you're poking a bear to the south than can literally end your economy on a whim.

We're moving in the opposite direction that we need to be moving in, culturally, and Canadians always remain stupid.

If Americans ever actually give enough of a shit about Canada to be pissed at how nasty we are to their nation on a regular basis (who remembers the convoy and how our biggest insult was 'these terrorists truckers are, gasp, americans'), we will have earned it.

The top one is the Spanish Civil War, the middle is the American Bonus Army, and the bottom one is the Hungarian Revolution. I didn't pick them for any ideological reasons. I just searched DDG images for the first events of civil unrest that came to mind.

It's an interesting picture, and you describe it succinctly. I had to run out for a bit after I posted so I left the page open in my browser to check if it describes what's going on the picture. The page describes it as "Two female Hungarian patriots take aim with their submachine guns in the window of a house."
I'm gonna take a guess that its after the Hungarians looted the armory of the (((secret police))).

The reason I disagreed with that sentiment is because I believe that voting makes it harder for them to fudge the numbers and cheat. If there was a widespread sentiment that voting was worthless, and the engagement numbers were very low, like 10-20%, then I could see the point in making a stand. In that case, abstaining from voting would in essence be a vote against the system, as has been the case in other countries. Most Canadians aren't quite there yet. So my argument is that it doesn't take much to go down and draw an X, and it might throw a wrench into the works, that makes it worthwhile to me.

I think in the bigger cities, where it matters more than places like mine, they probably have the cheating down pat. As it sits, they need more than cheating to win.

If your argument is that they're all the same, I would say even a protest vote is better than just abstaining. In this past Ontario election, an independent candidate whom Doug Ford swore would be out of politics this election, had a sweeping win. Even as some polls were showing a loss.

Trudeau billed taxpayers $1,515 a week for groceries, records reveal​

OTTAWA — Grocery expenses for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau topped an average of $1,515 per week billed to taxpayers, according to newly released documents.
That works out to $157,642 in household food expenses over a two-year period — $76,214 in 2021-22 and $81,428 in 2022-23, the most recent years in which records were available from the Privy Council Office.
“It’s one thing for the prime minister to bill taxpayers for government business, but taxpayers shouldn’t be on the hook for a single cent of the prime minister’s personal groceries,” said Franco Terrazzano, of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation, who uncovered the documents.
“The current policy needs to change, the government needs to improve transparency on this spending, and anyone who wants to be the next prime minister needs to commit to not billing taxpayers for their personal groceries.”
The records state those totals also include events hosted at both residences, but provided no details on what those events were and when they took place.
The records state $188,864.45 was spent on household groceries at the PM’s two main residences — Rideau Cottage and Harrington Lake — over those two years, but that Trudeau reimbursed $31,221.57 of that cost.
After reimbursements, 2021-22 saw $76,214.76 spent on groceries, and $81,428.12 spent in 2022-23.
“As per a longstanding practice since 1985, the prime minister reimburses amounts related to food based on Statistics Canada data on household spending, which is adjusted using the consumer price index to account for inflation,” a note on the records release states.
Dalhousie University’s 2023 Food Price Report suggests Canadian households spent $288 weekly on groceries in 2022 and 2023 — five times less than what the PM expensed taxpayers.
Based on a 44-hour work week, the average Canadian wage in 2022 was $73,147.36, according to Statistics Canada.
In comparison, the prime minister earns $406,200 annually.
Previous reporting on the topic revealed that Trudeau’s grocery bills from 2015 to March 2022 cost $345,230, an average of $57,538 annually.
Those same records show former PM Stephen Harper billed taxpayers $417,745 between 2007 and 2015, an average of $52,218 a year,
Household expenses weren’t kept by the Privy Council Office prior to 2006.
The prime minister’s family meals are prepared at off-site kitchens by his personal chef and delivered to Rideau Cottage.
The PM’s meals were prepared at the kitchens at 24 Sussex Dr. until the dilapidated official residence was condemned in 2022 due to hazardous conditions.
The National Capital Commission refuses to disclose where the prime minister’s kitchens were moved to.
“The fact that Trudeau spent more on food than what the average Canadian worker makes in an entire year is outrageous,” Terrazzano said.
“Here’s a crazy idea: How about the prime minister pays for their own groceries like everyone else.”

She lost her seat because she attempted to rebrand her party as another OCP lite in hopes to collect PC voters. That never works. Conservative voters already have the OCP and aren't interested in a knock off. And she alienated liberal voters. She absolutely deserved to lose her own riding.

As for the other guy there years ago that lost his riding? Who's gonna vote for a turtle?
