Politicians are spineless and ultimately being in power is way more important than principles. The Liberal party has been a circa-centrist party for a long time and stealing the most popular right-wing policies is a great way to stay in power.

You could also look at how Chretien governed and see what will happen when Canadian bonds become worthless in the near future -- I'd expect a repeat of the massive slashing of federal workforce headcount.

None of the Laurentian elite does really. Remember, they called Canada a "post national state", and now they act like they have a monopoly on "patriotism". This is from the so-called "equitable and inclusive bunch".

Embrace the people imported here to destroy Canada, but hate Americans because they are striving to improve their nation. It really is quite sick.

This whole tariff situation has further revealed just how hollow normies are. They only care about their cheap Chinese merchandise and electronics, their nations be damned.

Oh she'll still be in it. Don't forget Carney reviving the Secretary of State position so CBC can crow about his "lean" cabinet (while still having 40+ members) - full bets Freeland will land one of spots if she's not an official minister.

Also the fact Nathalie Provost is confirmed part of cabinet in some capacity is already making my blood boil and get the urge to fedpost.

Quebec is the area that really surprised me. Not only did carney's mediocre French not seem to matter at all, but the BQ's atrophy especially when contrasted to the surging PQ provincially made me think that the libs would lose ground there. Apparently French isn't as important to them as we thought 🤷‍♂️

In Quebec we don't have direct equivalent of federal parties like in other provinces. There is no NDP in the QC parliament, our liberal party is entirely unafiliated with the federal one, PQ and BQ aren't even associated and so on. So here whatever is happening federally is always seen as separate from what's happening provincially.
Also that's because the BQ's leader (Yves) is mediocre, while the PQ's leader (Pierre) is well recieved. It's been mentioned here, but on Alberta wanting to separate, Pierre was entirely in favor, while Yves was dismissive but wished them luck.

Steven Guilbeault is no longer the Environment Minister, no matter how shitty the replacement turns out to be, that is an objective good

On the other hand, Sean Fraser has fallen upwards once again and is now the Justice Minister

I just was recently in Quebec. It was like stepping in a time machine to a Canadian city 20 years ago. I didn't see any homeless, everything was clean. So of course the Quebecers will vote Liberal. They have been insulated entirely from what is happening in the rest of the Canada.
 
This thread has become on giant copium where people are all like "I'm okay with Mark Carney" while we're importing boatloads of Indians, Pakistanis, and Africans all competing for housing and healthcare.

Pierre was our last chance to reverse on immigration. We're absolutely f*cked from here on out.
