What happened with Canada was that the Indigenous children were literally forcibly separated from their families and put into residential schools. That's just terrible no matter how anyone spins it. And then, they were put into Indian reserves, effectively cutting them off from European society. There was no Christianization. The British for the most part were terrible at Christianization, and worse at assimilation.

It doesn's matter who ran it, it didn't work.

The Jesuits didn't have residential schools in Latin America, it's abnormal they did it in Canada, and this was state sanctioned. Canada's colonization was really haphazard and ineffective, and we see the effects of that today with how segregated the country is, we have literally hundreds of Indigenous tribes who can't agree on anything, on top of a burgeoning Third World migrant population.

I for one love the ironclad grip Catholicism has on Canada. Every time the UN condemns Canada (which is multiple times a year) over the fact our government-funded Catholic schools are much better than our public schools, God smiles.
