Cancelled Games You Wish Had Been Released - I Can't Think of a Good Subtitle

Good or bad, an Escape from New York licensed game that was developed during the early-to-mid-2000s would've been something I wanted to play
I might have mentioned it in the thread, I forget. It did get reworked into a police game called Dead to Right. They even have the same animations. Still, it's not the same.

The remake of Phantasy Star 4 that was supposed to have accompanied the remakes of Phantasy Star 1 & 2. Miserable fucks.

This still saddens me. I was looking forward to it so much.

The game was fine, but yea it feels depressingly different

There are two big ones that constantly haunt me:

First up: Darkwatch 2

The first Darkwatch was a staple of my teenage years, and the thing that got me into liking Westerns, but especially the Weird West. Jericho was so cool and everything my edgy little gothy babybat self loved in a hero. The mechanics of the game borrowed a lot from the original Halo (another big time favorite of mine) so it felt like a game practically made for me. It makes me so mad that, to this day, the OG creators have expressed how much they would love to make that sequel, but Activision is holding the IP hostage.

Second one: Kameo 2

Another obscure game that I had hours of fun with. Admittedly, I do not like how hard they intended to veer into grimdark territory for the sequel (the charming aesthetic was a major component of what I enjoyed about the original) however, I would be a liar if I said I wasn't at least intrigued about why the formerly cheerful world has decayed into darkness. I would have at least played it and tried to go in with an open mind. I have so many questions about the plot, characters, lore and how their world went from beautiful to corrupted, and, sadly, I will never have answers. I'm too lazy to go seek it out, but I recall a leak of the game's early build was published on youtube once, and the gameplay looked very fun -- like a mix of Assassin's Creed and Sly Cooper.

I loved both of these games as a kid. I replayed Darkwatch so many times so I could see the differences between the endings. Surprisingly enough I loved Dark Westerns before Darkwatch, but it just cemented my love for the genre as a whole. The aesthetic of a weird, dark western just scratches an itch that most other genres can't. Southern Gothic, Southern Horror, Dark Western and Weird West are just some very good genres in general imo. I wish there was more games in the same vein.

I also played and loved Kameo too. Can't play it now as an adult cause it feels too clunky to me, but I still hold it in my heart with a lot of nostalgia and love. Would have loved to see the sequel as well even if it went in an entirely different aesthetic/art/story direction.

Thread Tax: Not sure if it counts/been mentioned, but, The Original Pitch for Beyond Good and Evil 2. I would have loved a continuation of Jade and Pey'j and their adventures. But instead we're getting whatever the Prequel's wokeslop DEI garbage shit with a monkey and an afro haired negress. The irony is lost on many. I just wanted to play a badass lady, take pictures of animals, and overthrow a tyrannical government by being a (real) journalist. 😞

How about the highlander game that was in development back in the day. Ended up cancelled around 2000 or 2001 I think. No real idea what it was actually going to be like but it would have been interesting to see what they did with the franchise as a game

Project van Buren and the original battlefront 3. Modern battlefront cant even add in real galactic conquest because ea thinks players are retarded.

Off the top of my head I can think of at least 7 games that I legitimately was upset got canceled. A couple have probably been mentioned but I will repeat.

Total Overdose 2: Tequila Gunrise:
I absolutely love the first Total Overdose game and I was gut wrenched when I heard that Tequila Gunrise was canceled.

Faith and a .45:
This game was being developed by the same studio that made Total Overdose and had a Bonnie and Clyde style theme.

Dirty Harry:
I’m a massive Clint Eastwood fan and this had me legitimately excited. To play a 3rd person Dirty Harry game with the man himself reprising his role would’ve been top notch.

Mercenaries 3:
Big fan of the first game and enjoyed the second game to an extent.

Star Wars 1313:
This one was a massive one I looked forward to. An Uncharted style Star Wars game with a darker tone where you play as my favorite character Boba Fett. Crushing to hear it got canceled.

Unnamed Darth Maul Game:
A 3rd person game where you played as Darth Maul. Nuff said.

Bully 2:
Another gut wrenching cancelation was hearing that Rockstar was indeed working on a Bully sequel, whose DNA lives on in RDR2 as a lot of the mechanics from Bully 2 got repurposed for RDR2.
Couldn’t find any gameplay so unfortunately I had to use a SWEGTA video. He’s a faggot but it provides insight.

I didn't even know about Faith & a .45, now I'm even sadder about Deadline shutting down.

*sigh*

Pokemon Pink would've been cool, can't get enough gen 1. Recently learned of Return of Donkey Kong, there's so few good games in the series that I'd like to see what it could've been. Same for Star Fox on Virtual Boy, it'd be worth having bleeding eyes to play another Star Fox game.

Necro'ing the thread because Captain Blood is getting an official re-release [A].
Also, if anyone wants to play the original version, it got leaked on a Russian site a while ago.
If the game doesn't start & gives an error then download "physx_9.10.0513"

Also, to the change the game's language, you need to start the game at least once & then exit it. In the documents folder, find the Captain Blood folder, & "engine.ini" folder, & in the localisation line, type "eng" instead of "rus"

Command and Conquer: Generals 2.

Now that the remaster of Tiberian Dawn/Red Alert are seeing success I hope they go back and make a Generals 2. Or make an actual good Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight.
That is literally never going to happen simply due to the fact that you would take so much Flack from it really well I demand to be able to play the GLA the global jihad will last forever
