Cancelled Games You Wish Had Been Released - I Can't Think of a Good Subtitle

Zombi U2

Im on the small boat that really liked the original game (as flawed as it may be) since it had the premise of actually having zombies be scary again instead of just fleshy obstacles to easily mow down. It reminded of No More room in Hell on that aspect as a single zombie can really be a threat and even when you got a weapon, you handle it clumsly because you are playing as an average joe who probably never handled a gun or had to kill someone. You knew it was best to sneak around zombies, especially when there was more than one. A zombie grabbing you can easily spell the end because they just need to get you once. It just felt visceral and real.

The London setting was very unique and it really made you feel like you were alone against overwhelming odds and your crazy preper voice in the radio hardly helped in giving you comfort. The story wasnt anything to write home about but I also put it above many other plots in zombie games even from today.

The music was also really good, the sound design was intense and I felt it used the WiiU's tablet pretty well.

Which breaks my heart to know we are likely to never see a sequel to this game because it apparently undersold (not sure if I blame the marketing or maybe even the WiiU's kiddie reputation) and unless your name is Assassin's Creed, this meant no sequel for you. They even tried to make up for their losses by porting it on PC and other consoles but the game just felt awkward without the WiiU's tablet as the game was clearly built around it. And to make matters worse, there was a prototype in the works for a sequel, one implying the virus is now in America possibly so we were probably get something even bigger and more chaotic.

It just sucks because I could easily see a sequel on the Switch and it would be a pretty good transition between both consoles.
Ultima 8: The Lost Vale expansion. I'd literally kill to get my hands on this (it was apparently essentially complete)

It would have helped give Pagan a happier ending as it would conclude with their benevolent gods being resurrected and would begin to restore the land to what it once was.

As is, Pagan is even more fucked than it was when the Avatar arrived and its not like it matters because U9 retcons U8's ending...

System Shock 3.
Was it canceled though?

The remake of Phantasy Star 4 that was supposed to have accompanied the remakes of Phantasy Star 1 & 2. Miserable fucks
Oh, fuck, that really hurts.

The Last Night: Just about everything from that E3 trailer was KINO
Technically it's in development Hell, so maybe just maybe... On the other hand, Replaced should release next year. Hopefully.

There was a WWII era Shadow Hearts that never saw the day of light which is a shame because if you know anything about those games Demon Lord Hitler absolutely would have been the main villian which would have been absolutely hilarious.

Hopefully Penny Blood turns out to be good.

Let's be honest it would have been a mediocre Uncharted clone/shitty console shooter anyway. Since it never released I know we all imagine it to be amazing but I doubt much of value was lost.
Sure but I would take that over many games that have came out in the past 10 years.

The World of Darkness MMO would have probably been awful due to trying to focus on quantity of things you can do instead of quantity, like sure it's fitting for fancy vampires to be able to have a fashion skill but if it's just one of hundreds of skills then the quality of each skill is sus. It would be nice if the VTM videogame modmakers didn't get cease and desists for the most ambitious projects like Project Vaulderie and the other people were trying to make huge mods for Bloodlines & Redemption. In the last few months there has been more of a effort to try and make the mods again with stuff like Team Deathmatch and Capture the flag, and mods like this one on nexus mods but IDK how playable they really are.

They should have mashed Command & Conquer with Red Faction in the style of C&C Renegade.

The zany story of GDI vs Nod vs EDF vs Red Faction even writes itself. And you save two dead franchises.

Bethesda seriously fucked over Human Head Studios during its development
bethesdas buisness model as an independant company revolved around fucking over smaller developers so they could buy them out and absorb the talent therein. they did this to every company whose games they publish. i assume the model is different now that they are owned by microsoft.

thread tax: the best i can get to stuff not already mentioned is development hell games, specifcally mega man x corrupted.

doubt they could do it any more. Harrison Ford is too old,

I'll add Warhammer 40k: Spacemarine 2 and 3.

There's a couple.

SW Battlefront 3 and 1313 go without saying.

There's two games Arkane worked on, one was a Half-Life 2 spinoff named Return to Ravenholm, which got canceled around 2009. The other is the Crossing, a game that featured Templar assassins from a parallel universe where the Templars ran the world crossing over into a modern-day Paris that was ravaged by Civil War. Interesting stuff, apparently they planned on online players joining other players' single player campaigns. Interesting stuff.

There was a German counter-strike knock-off called Parabellum, but I think that one might actually have come out.

There was an ARPG called Lord of the Rings: The White Council, wherein you played as characters from the White Council fighting the forces of the Necromancer. That one really stings, since it was the closest we ever got to a proper LOTR RPG.

And lastly, in 2004 I read an article about an Ukrainian slavjank famtasy RPG called Hearts of Eternity, which just kinda disappeared. Not much was known about it, but the screenshots looked promising.

Eh what we got was good but the original idea of playing Titus working for the Inquisition before going rogue and eventually forming his own chapter was pretty badass. One day id like to see at least a game of his adventures between 1 and 2. ( Although most of it was him in stasis getting tortured by some jackass Inquisitor before being rescued)
