Cani's pissed that he was banned from FurTheMore, noticed they gave out ribbons that said "Hate has no home here" and wants the con kicked out for 'promoting terrorism'
I heard that someone matching him was yanked from the con by police for trespassing (going even when banned), and said something about second amendment rights as well.

What a retarded redneck shit. Going to the mattresses over a dumb furcon banning you for being a notoriously shitty person? And then going anyway and having to be escorted out?

American furcons are mostly fucked
Nigga, most furcons are fucked these days. Furries got political. A con got fucking cancelled in 2017 and the straw that broke the camel's back was that furfags couldn't keep their shitty extremist politics out of their goddamn hobby. If you don't like the con because its owners or staff members show a political bias, don't go. I agree that I want people to stop including their politics in everything, and seeing cons officially do it is rather egregious, but that seems to be the world we live in these days.

Also, I'm not sure if it's simply out of frame, but I found it chuckle-worthy that I don't see the con handing out "he/him" pronoun ribbons. Either way, it shows some serious bias on someone's part. Either Cani's for not having a picture include everything that was offered, which using the incomplete picture here would show some deception on his part, or it would show the con's crusade against masculinity. Either one is shitty and makes whomever is guilty of that laughably pathetic.

To add onto this, it doesn't take any amount of effort to bring in alt furries into the fold, despite how much leftist furries may complain.

And maybe it's because I've been hitting the sauce, but the political nature has cut into my own freelance funds, because even if you draw something for someone who may be alt-right, suddenly, you're the devil. I rely on furry commissions to fill in the gaps that freelancing for studios et all can't cover, the last thing I want is to be forced into any one "side" and if I fulfill a contract for either an alt-furry or an antifur, suddenly I am the enemy for drawing either.

Sorry that it's just a business, I like many artists, have bills to pay and it's fucking annoying that a secondary and formerly, a happy source of income (I mean, playing God with animal and human features is fun as hell) and one of the least appealing genres to be a part of.

So honestly asking, KF, as a long term lurker and a member of the community;

How can i draw and enjoy the fun depictions of animal people without being lumped into the greater furry fandom towards which I've developed a strong animosity towards?
It's a bit of a personal battle between what I enjoy drawing and telling stories with, and then "serious" professional art, like; for as long as it's happened and for the fuckups who are involved- I just want to have fun drawing animal people and not have it be a fetish or be a furry thing, like-

-why does every fucking thing have to be a fetish, hahaha.

This is invariably one of the biggest hurdles that the furry fandom has to get over in order to bring a social normalization to the community; not necessarily the politics, but the polarization being created by those using politics as a weapon.

Regardless of the politics of any particular furries, be it left, right, center, far-left, far-right, or whatever, at the end of the day, the OVERWHELMING majority of these people, no matter how in opposition their politics might be, are very much the same in most every other regard. They all go about their lives, go to work, pay their bills, hang out, tell jokes, have families, relationships, hobbies, interests, friends, and socialize like all the rest.

It's basically come down to a bunch of people saying "The peanut butter is better" and a bunch of others saying "the jelly is better" when both are talking about the same goddamn PB&J sandwich. It all meshes well together, it's all a complete concept, it's just some taking preference to a trivial facet of the whole and shitting on each other for not all thinking the same thing.

When it comes to trying to do commissioned work in the furry fandom right now, you really have only three options;
  1. Play it safe and only take commissions from the "leftist" side, so as to not rustle the jimmies of the spiteful and vocal minority of radicals like Deo, Chip, Junius, etc into trying to ruin your image and income.
  2. Say "screw the optics, i'm going in" and just do as you please without giving any care or credence to the busybodies and moralizers of either "side".
  3. Just stop taking commissions from furries completely, and forego the extra income in order to just draw whatever anthropomorphic themed content YOU want, at your leisure.

As long as petty, entitled, and deluded twits are running around inflaming polarization and hate because they think everyone who doesn't think like them is one of satan's own evil, steaming turds, then those are the options you and many others will have to choose from, and far as I can tell, those twits will be around stirring up trouble for a long while.

Furthemore had He/Him ribbons as well. The badge that Cani got a picture of just doesn't have those ribbons on it. There was another picture of the table that the ribbons where laid out on.

They were handed out with the rest, though the picture Cani used to complain about was taken from someone else's twitter in The Zoo/Main commute area (Reg room didn't have white table covers, the zoo did)

The zoo? Sorry. I'm not up to date on furry con terminology.

Basically a furry term for the con hotel's lobby. People usually meet up there, sit there when bored, or use it to get to another part of the con. A bunch of cons like Anthrocon, MFF or FurTheMore use the term though some like FurSquared just call it the lobby.

I thought the fandom stopped with the retarded lingo

I'm friends with artists, Several of them have it as a full time gig. They themselves have gotten shit from purity testers. I think the way to do so is to speak to both sides! Try and get work from either side. You do work for who pays. Don't let yourself be hemmed in by either side, you're nobody's boy. You'll take whoever pays. If anyone confronts you over wrongthink, be polite, but firm. Don't apologise. Apologies are a guilty plea in the court of public opinion, and purity testers love taking screencaps to use to call people out. Alot of the time, they are looking for the next target of their three minutes hate.

I think the way to try and divorce yourself from furry, is to say you like the anthro genre. Because it is something of a genre anyway. I personally really like the genre. You just HAPPEN to have a large furry clientele.

I don't see that ever changing, furries are having too much fun to stop. I would look into making the leap to another fandom with less standards.

Most furry artists these days have ended up going with 3, simply because of the lull Patreon money has. They'll crank out porn of some copyrighted characters or do some Patreon commission raffle every month and won't have to deal with as much drama. Traditional commissions are out of style, and Patreon commissions are as hip and trendy as YCH auctions are.

If you're not going to do 2 (and this requires thick skin because a lot of people cave at the threats of blacklisting), 3 is the definite way to go.

Didnt the hotel the furthermore have a couple gender non-binary bathrooms? A couple of the more conservative folks I know that go to it were complaining about. Couldn't be bothered to look myself.

That's pretty much a typical con practice now. They'll tell the hotels to put up signs in the con space saying the restrooms are gender neutral, then the minute the con is over the signs come down.
