During and after the second industrial revolution we spent essentially an entire century pumping unfathomable amounts of lead and god knows what else into the atmosphere and environment. Hell leaded gasoline wasn't completely phased out until the mid-90's I'm willing to wager lead is one of the biggest contributors to boomers having terminal mind aids and I don't doubt it fucks with the formation of babies in the womb either, even after phasing all this stuff out.
