Here’s a question I’ve wanted to ask for a while: when did you start to realise Sargon was a pseudo-intellectual sped? Did you realise if from the start, or were you a fan/casual viewer and it slowly dawned on you/there was an event that made you realise?

I fall into the latter category, specifically casual viewer and it slowly dawned on me. I’ve said before in this thread that I was never subscribed to Sargon, nor was I a particularly huge fan of his, but I did watch quite a few of his videos and thought he generally did a good job advocating against SJWs. This was around 2015-2016.

There were four events I distinctly remember which had the cumulative effect of making me realise Sargon was a faggot.

The first was just after Trump got elected. The guy who played Abraham on The Walking Dead had made an off-handed remark comparing Negan to Trump. It wasn’t even a particulatly bad one, it was something along the lines of “Trump’s an unpredictable guy, Negan’s an unpredictable guy, we’ll see what happens”. Nothing to raise too many hackles, but Sargon felt the need to make a video that went on for nearly half an hour intricately breaking down why Trump wasn’t like Negan. The whole time I was watching it, I was thinking “Lol, calm down”.

The second was when Shitrat rebelled. To be fair, what Shitrat did was incredibly childish and underhanded, but most people when faced with a parody twitter account of themselves would have laughed it off and moved on. Not Sargon. He made three videos excoriating Shitrat for the grievous insult and acted like he was some sort of king who’d had one of his trusted nobles commit treason against him. It was the first of many times watching a Sargon clip where I thought “Get over yourself”. The contrast between how Sargon and Metokur dealt with Shitrat is quite illuminating.

The third was when Sargon’s Old 9/11 truther views were exposed. It wasn’t the fact he used to be a truther that rubbed me up the wrong way, it was how he responded to the accusations. Rather than either owning it, or trying to defend himself, he obfuscated, sniffed his own farts and said there was no importance to what his critics were saying and they were instigating drama (I would later come to understand that “instigating drama” is Sargon speak for “I have no arguments so I’m moving the goalposts”).

The killing blow for me was the stream he did with Jim and Louis after launching the liberalists. It was clear by that point he had no idea what he was doing and had let his ego get the better of him.

So what did it for you?

I caught on to his pseudo-intellectualism pretty early on. Probably sometime around mid-2016. I had only really started to pay attention to him in early 2016. I realized he was a one trick pony who was trying to make himself appear to be much smarter than he was actually capable of being.

At the same time though, I didn't really hate him until the EU and "Hello Jim" saga. Even if he was a little bit of a try hard who was trying to sound smarter than he actually was, I thought he was still a decent guy who was just trying to take a stand for a cause he thought was important. Even throughout all the drama with Kraut, IBS, the liberalist movement and his early spergouts in 2018, I still gave him the benefit of doubt.

But then the entire "Hello Jim" shit arrived. It was at that point I really started to realize that Jim was right about Sargon all this time. He was nothing more than a guy with a giant ego who only cared about acquiring power and huffing his own farts. And sure enough, he's done nothing but prove it since then.

In hindsight I gave him way too much benefit of doubt, I should of turned on him much sooner. I'm just glad at this point that his career is in shambles and that he's destroyed everything he built.

well for me it wasn't just Sargon, but a lot of the old 'sjw' sphere. I remember finding them, and seeing them challenge general beliefs that I'd seen peddled as absolute truths made me see them as some sort of liberal skeptic type of people. they were willing to look at their side of the fence, and then look at things skeptically.

After a while, after I ended up watching a bunch of Milo owns feminism, Ben shapiro rapes and destroys college campus, why all liberals are marxist extremists etc. I realized that while a lot of the ideas they might have been touting aren't necessarily wrong. The presence of these Anti SJWs on Youtube essentially commercialized, and monetized this particular point of view.

Suddenly It seemed like none of them were skeptical anymore of their own camp, none of them particularly enjoyed criticism leveled at 'their own' they all wanted to repeat the same general opinions of eachother for maximum profit and audience, opinions and thoughts were taken as gospel, I started noticing that, even when Sargon was engaging with people that I would disagree with, he wasn't doing it in a particularly fair, skeptical and intelligent manner.

a long story short, I became disenfranchised with a lot of Anti SJWs around the same time. so it wasn't any one moment.

I was interested in the drama surrounding gamergate when it started. I found the whole thing impenetrable and impossible to know what was going on. So i looked at a few channels that acted as news agencies for it. Carl was one. I remember finding him tedious back then because he never gave a clear or concise roundup of what was happening. Then he started coming out with DIGRA shit and that just made me roll my eyes. I finally unsubbed when he declared gamergate over because I had no more interest.

Then over the years the almighty algorithm kept recommending him to me. In fact I think youtube has no place to criticize him because they are the ones that promoted him for so long. How else does a charmless charisma void become so popular?
I would watch some of his videos off and on. I remember watching some edition of TWIS where he started to get fake angry at newspapers and I got major cult leader vibes from him then. Like he was trying to do a two minute hate sort of thing.
I kept an eye on him after that because he really was blowing up back then and he seemed unstoppable. But i remember clearly saying fuck this when the whole Candid thing happened and also the whole thing with thunderf00t.

His treatment of HO and also Thunderf00t (The way he would just turn against people he supposedly liked) didnt sit right with me and how he tried to twist the definition of individualism to include what effectively amounted to a cult made it perfectly clear to me that this man was either contemptuous of his viewers intelligence or just a fucking moron himself. I remember his video titled "The student has outshone the master" or something like that in reference to TF and I instantly thought 'What a smarmy cunt'
That just seemed like a bridge too far to me and also I was beginning to find his voice unbearable to listen to.

I also think i was really tired of the over saturation of skeptics on youtube at that point. Kraut in particular was the last straw that made me want to have nothing to do with these people.

Funnily enough it only took my sister three seconds of watching his hello jim video to come to the conclusion that hes a pretentious pseud, which says a lot about me.

I don't think most people ever thought he was a smart leader, they just hated SJWs and feminists and he was one of the few people making good points against them and not being an absolute sperg. Like many back then it's easy to interview most feminists cause they are hysterical geeks to make look foolish, and like many Sargon tried to scale this up and failed.

So for many I think his downfall coincided with the dismissal of the Intellectual Dark Web and realising "individuality and free speech" was just a convenient cover for their true intentions (Ben Shapiro, the free speech advocate, saying all racists and antisemites should be fired, etc.)

Sargon was a soldier in the culture war and not a general, and he has not figured this part out yet. Specifically I think he never recovered from his disastrous interactions with the alt right and big boy politics.

Also, that part of the culture war was essentially won. We all mainstreamed the mockery of safe spaces, campus leftists, insane feminists, and SJWs. Mocking SJWs is acceptable, every major comedian does it regardless of race, people across the spectrum mock gender pronouns and all that choose-your-own-gender shit (except for Hannah Gadsby) and so where else can you go from there? Sargon tried to stay swimming in that pond for as long as he could, but could never escape the gravitation pull of basic bitch John Locke rebuttals so he has no purpose in this far more radical and nuanced ecosystem. Ironically he hitched his intellectual wagon to the one system it seems everyone hates right now: liberalism.

For me it was when Sargon had the falling out with Metokur where he called Metokur a "child groomer" and then clips started leaking of him saying "it depends on the child" and unironically calling neo-nazis "white niggers" and how he wanted Donald Trump to re-start Gamergate. By then, it was clear the guy is a hack who's only doing it to make a quick buck. His absolute disaster of a campaign run in UKIP was the final nail in the coffin. Any hope of him having a political career outside of YouTube has gone straight into the garbage can outside Applebee's.

Some might find this insensitive, but just remember Carls grandfather was black dark skinned pretty tan during the summer so it's okay

Calling neo-nazi's white niggers is appropriate.

Oh, this again. Being recorded using that word in any context other than "this word is bad, I apologize for saying it as an example" without the correct skin color precludes you from politics and most of polite society in the West. Carl does have an open door to anything any of the Cumias are working on at the moment, however

calling any group "a bunch of niggers" is bad optics for anyone in the public eye. Which is why, if you're braindead like Carl and can't control yourself, you should abstain from live debates. Because eventually you're gonna load up your gat, take careful aim at your foot, and blow a hole right through it

This eurotrash motherfucker is deadass calling St Louis "Saint Louie". Toss some fedoras on me, I don't care. Carl, we are not a French nation. Butcher the French language like an American or get the fuck out.
Speaking of sharing "when I realized Sargon was an idiot" stories, I think the third video or so I watched of Carl failing to get basic tenets of subject matter I was actually familiar with confirmed it for me. His career wouldn't exist if it weren't for the Gell-Man amnesia effect.

Really? Nobody else mainly just threw his videos on for background noise they half-paid attention to while they played games?

But he uses Ancient Greek terms to label his paypig tiers! Clearly an intellectual!

Same here, except it was the first video for me. It was something about Greek history. Not only was he wrong on multiple facts but I also noticed the way he cherrypicked quotes to make it appear like his interpretation was the correct one, it was super disingenuous. It's when I realized he cared more about appearing right than actually being right.
