Here’s a question I’ve wanted to ask for a while: when did you start to realise Sargon was a pseudo-intellectual sped? Did you realise if from the start, or were you a fan/casual viewer and it slowly dawned on you/there was an event that made you realise?
I fall into the latter category, specifically casual viewer and it slowly dawned on me. I’ve said before in this thread that I was never subscribed to Sargon, nor was I a particularly huge fan of his, but I did watch quite a few of his videos and thought he generally did a good job advocating against SJWs. This was around 2015-2016.
There were four events I distinctly remember which had the cumulative effect of making me realise Sargon was a faggot.
The first was just after Trump got elected. The guy who played Abraham on The Walking Dead had made an off-handed remark comparing Negan to Trump. It wasn’t even a particulatly bad one, it was something along the lines of “Trump’s an unpredictable guy, Negan’s an unpredictable guy, we’ll see what happens”. Nothing to raise too many hackles, but Sargon felt the need to make a video that went on for nearly half an hour intricately breaking down why Trump wasn’t like Negan. The whole time I was watching it, I was thinking “Lol, calm down”.
The second was when Shitrat rebelled. To be fair, what Shitrat did was incredibly childish and underhanded, but most people when faced with a parody twitter account of themselves would have laughed it off and moved on. Not Sargon. He made three videos excoriating Shitrat for the grievous insult and acted like he was some sort of king who’d had one of his trusted nobles commit treason against him. It was the first of many times watching a Sargon clip where I thought “Get over yourself”. The contrast between how Sargon and Metokur dealt with Shitrat is quite illuminating.
The third was when Sargon’s Old 9/11 truther views were exposed. It wasn’t the fact he used to be a truther that rubbed me up the wrong way, it was how he responded to the accusations. Rather than either owning it, or trying to defend himself, he obfuscated, sniffed his own farts and said there was no importance to what his critics were saying and they were instigating drama (I would later come to understand that “instigating drama” is Sargon speak for “I have no arguments so I’m moving the goalposts”).
The killing blow for me was the stream he did with Jim and Louis after launching the liberalists. It was clear by that point he had no idea what he was doing and had let his ego get the better of him.
So what did it for you?
I caught on to his pseudo-intellectualism pretty early on. Probably sometime around mid-2016. I had only really started to pay attention to him in early 2016. I realized he was a one trick pony who was trying to make himself appear to be much smarter than he was actually capable of being.
At the same time though, I didn't really hate him until the EU and "Hello Jim" saga. Even if he was a little bit of a try hard who was trying to sound smarter than he actually was, I thought he was still a decent guy who was just trying to take a stand for a cause he thought was important. Even throughout all the drama with Kraut, IBS, the liberalist movement and his early spergouts in 2018, I still gave him the benefit of doubt.
But then the entire "Hello Jim" shit arrived. It was at that point I really started to realize that Jim was right about Sargon all this time. He was nothing more than a guy with a giant ego who only cared about acquiring power and huffing his own farts. And sure enough, he's done nothing but prove it since then.
In hindsight I gave him way too much benefit of doubt, I should of turned on him much sooner. I'm just glad at this point that his career is in shambles and that he's destroyed everything he built.
