Calvin Robinson, a black Anglican priest associated with the Lotus Eaters, interviewed Carl this week on his LE show
Common Sense Crusade.
Robinson fled the UK last year after declaring it too dangerous for him being overrun by Muslims and with the Kier Starmer Labour government win. He left for the US, being invited to take over a small church in Michigan.
He was effectively defrocked in January when he did the Elon "My Heart Goes Out to You" salute a few days after the Trump inauguration during a public speech.
Not sure if he is still living in Michigan now, but he presently appears to be back in the UK broadcasting from Carl's Swindon studio.
The interview was an hour long, so too big to upload here even with compression. So I included a local copy of the audio.
Robinson focused mostly on why Carl isn't Christian. But there were also some tidbits about his early pre-marriage YT days.
Notes
- Robinson talked about personally being involved in video game journalism pre-Gamergate. He founded a video game review site called GodisaGeek.com in 2009. He didn't know Carl back then. He was involved in his own site until this past January where there was a mutiny with his staff with his Roman salute & Nazi priest arc
- Benjamin talked about wanting to publish a video game himself but there's been no progress since 2016?
- Apparently, Milo Yiannopoulos was a tech writer "writing about Web 2.0 stuff" that Calvin was aware of pre-Trump 1.0 MAGA faggot arc? Calvin says he knew Milo pre-GG before 2014-15. Carl has been "friends with Milo since GG. I'm still friends with him now". Carl takes credit for convincing Milo to return to Twitter.
- Carl started his 1st YT channel in 2010 and Twitter around 2015. He had around 20k YT subs around the start of GG. He actually started uploading YT vids in 2013.
- Robinson opens the interview claiming his viewers are accusing Carl of "flirting with Christianity like Jordan Peterson)
Sargon
have I have (0:41) Maintained I'm personally not a religious man (0:44) I'm not a believer (0:45) But I respect Christianity for the things that it wants and believes and I want to see Christianity do well (0:52) So I'm I guess you could say an ally (0:54) But I've never claimed to be a Christian (0:56) Not you know, and it's it's not it's not a point of pride either. It's just a fact
When Robinson brings up the paradox of not identifying as a Christian personally but believing that Western Christian societies function better
I feel like I'm kind of a disabled person encouraging people to run races (1:22) And so saying or like well, yeah, but you're not running the race yourself (1:25) Okay, but I can't run, you know, and that's you're more like the coach who's coach who's telling people to run the race (1:31) But you could run if you wanted to I don't know. I just I honestly feel that there's a part of me that hasn't developed in that regard the and I think it's because I'm a product of a liberal modernity and so (1:45) Like my parents never took me to church. It's it to me.
It's just it's kind of alien (1:51)
Robinson asks him if he ever goes to church
Well, yeah. Well, yeah, I have to go to churches on the Easter and at Christmas
Why doesn't he go every Sunday?
Because he "hates the local church" being run by "nice" but "unserious" "liberal middle-aged women".
About Anita Sarkesian
- Sargon claims to have never spoken to her personally during GG or since
- remembers her calling him a " garbage human"
- would happily have a polite conversation with her present day
- thinks wrt Sarkesian that people confuse him with Thunderfoot, Thunderfoot made serial Anita videos, he only made 6-8 over 6 years
On his own video game
- Sargon worked on a few demos of games he wanted to make with a friend and other guys pre-2016. They borrowed money from their parents as seed money, about 8k pounds Then his YT took off, everyone had "a lot going on" and their last update was 2016. They abandoned the project and refunded some, mostly to his folks.
- Sargon also admits that he's forgotten how to code
- Calvin asks him and he says he used to code in Unity
On pre-YT employment
- worked low-tech office jobs around Swindon doing website stuff, mostly a "fixer and updater"
- lost his job "because of feminism" but didn't realize it at the time
- around 2012-13, all his bosses and colleagues around him were women
- the Research Councils started running " women in leadership" programming. Sargon indirectly questioned if done so was "discrimatory against men". He believes he became a "marked man" and was later asked to leave. He was then unemployed and continued to work on his gaming project.
- unknowingly questioning feminism eventually getting him fired pushed him down the "feminism in gaming" GG rabbithole while unemployed and continuing game design
Sargon's family
- his mother works at a "Disabled Persons' Home" in Cornwall
- during 2020-21 with BLM & George Floyd, she was subjected to BLM directives even though "there are no black people in Cornwall"
- his father grew up poor living in a caravan with his brothers. He had 5 brothers and eventually moved to a council house.
- his father was a seargeant in the RAF, making only 25k in the 90s. He joined the RAF to get out of poverty.
- they lived in discount three bedroom housing on RAF bases.
- Sargon claims to have grown up in a low-middle class lifestyle.
- His mother was a SAHM but returned to being a cleaner PT when Carl and his sister got old enough. His mum has five brothers & sisters.
- Both his parents worked "very hard". He considers them " Southwest success stories"
Education
- Sargon went to university in Coventry for Computer Science but dropped out 2nd year.
- Carl never met a Muslim IRL until uni, didn't even know what Islam was prior to this
- the first Muslim student he ever met started dealing him weed as his dealer
- claims to be top of his CS class, only one to pass 1st year without remediation, but quit because of boredom, dull, no fun
- wishes he'd known about other majors like Philosophy back then, blames his working class family for being ignorant about higher education options
- developed his It prowess because software & hardware weren't user-friendly in the 80s & 90s
- first household CPU was a 386 with 4 MB of RAM, struggled to play DOOM
- did laptop builds and repair pre-uni
Sargon of Akkad YT
- 1st YT channel 2010, didn't start actual videos until 2013
- when he began YT, was living in a 500 pound/mth 1 bdr flat in Swindon, was single, doing vids from his front room
- admits to making 12k/mth from YT around his peak
- dated his current wife on & off again for years, ultimately looked her up again pre-marriage on Facebook because he noticed she was single. She was living in Wales at the time.
- Sounds like they shortly thereafter got pregnant with Carl's first son pre-marriage.
- Carl estimates only 5-6k subs when his gf/now wife finally got serious for the last time. Was about at 50-100k during GG when he was in a proper relationship with her. Made a couple grand a month to pay bills Eventually grew to 200-300k subs making a 4-5k a month when he had his 1st son.
- Says all his old YT revenue went "into his family". He's not an "opulent guy". Most of his YT money went to his wedding, moving in together and buying a house.
Cancel culture
- Sargon says he was only ever officially canceled from Patreon BITD for "saying a naughty word"
- was suspended for a time off Twitter for "arguing with a Nazi"
- YT was demonetized for years up until a few months ago, but never completely banned
This marks the 30 min cap for the transcription tool I was using, I'll manually do the rest later.
