I remember seeing a film about the party conference from Dankula where he made a comment as much that it was an older party, and anything that could appeal to a younger disenfranchised voting class would be good for the party.

I still say its a miscalculation given the fact that young people in general are unlikely to be conservatives. It is a complete misunderstanding of the demographic. While I hate UKIP and would love to see them go down in flames If i had to lead them i would say it would have made far more sense to tap the conservative party's base for voters rather than attempt to tap into the unreliable and tempestuous bloc of young people.
Conservatives are always going to be older and UKIP is a party with a conservative ideology. They should have stayed in their lane.

A lot of the senior party members weren't keen on bringing in the youtube trio, partly for the reason above, and also because the party has fought tooth and nail to distance itself from "racists or crack pots" party smear that it's been attacked with.
A smear it has rightfully earned

and one they do nothing to expunge themselves of by bringing in Carl "you are acting like a bunch of niggers" Benjamin and Paul "There is no such thing as depression" Watson

You run into this problem all the time in politics but especially in smaller fringe parties, where you aren't going to get the best people for the job, you have to make do with what you have available, and the people who actually want the job.

The best that UKIP always had to offer is assembled from the rejects of the Conservative party. So any opportunity to bring fresh blood into a dead party, and maybe get some new voters or party members in is a good thing.

But this is what doesnt make any sense to me. We know that there was a lot of resistance to Carl from within party officialdom, as shown by mauritianstruggle. Surely there was someone else who could have replaced Carl. If not for Battens influence Carl would not have been allowed into the party, especially after the numerous gaffes he has made since joining (suitgate, only joining to trigger the libs, various hitpieces etc)
Are we to assume that Carl had lobbied Batten for this position in the party? If so what does that make of the whole "I dont want to do this?" thing he still drags out.
Why has batten allowed him this level of undue influence within the party? Why has he allowed Carl and PJW and Meechan to ride roughshod over the rest of the party membership just so they could have their weird little LARP at playing politics.

I'd agree, if Carl himself hadn't told the UKIP Students guy that he has no interest in actually supporting the party beyond saying "vote UKIP" to his e-fans.
He was lying his ass off, he absolutely has ambitions to do more than that.
For smaller parties to survive, they don't just need votes, they need party activist, and if bringing Carl in with a group of die-hard liberalist or fans who will shill for the party, then you don't need a large group of people to put it to good use. For instance, if he has 10k UK fans, and can mobilize 8k of them to canvas for UKIP, it's going to be really helpful to the party, because it's not disenfranchised boomers doing the door to door.
It sounds good on paper, but it ended up being a miscalculation because they didn’t realize the nature of his celebrity.

When the liberalist thing kicked up for UKIP they got like a few hundred to a thousand or so new members. So it really wasn’t this boon they had thought it would be.

Not to mention that Carl’s controversy can arguably nullify any good he does for a party. So that arguably should’ve been taken into account better.

I'm so happy he's doing this. This is the guy who can't handle YT chat comments without threatening them with violence. How will he fare at a press conference? This is the guy who argues with literally anyone who tweets at him, how will he handle attack articles? This is the guy who, one day after joining UKIP, said in a video that the head of the party said the N word to him in a phone call. How long until the sargon grim reaper meme comes for UKIP? I can't wait for the shitshow.

The british media is nothing compared to the viciousness of youtube comments. To start with they could never make fun of him for his faulty sperm or trainwreck marriage. If anything it will be a breath of fresh air for him.
He will be entering a world where he can stick his head further up his own ass than ever before and also briefly fulfil his delusions of grandeur. It will be a dream come true for him.
It will be much better to see him loose. Even better if he looses to daddy farage and has to do an about turn on everything he said about Farage.

Please remember that, at the last general election, this was who our Prime Minister was up against:

The great British public will happily vote in a dullard neckbeard from the internet as a protest vote in elections they've always despised. No-one cares about the EU elections in the UK, which is why any joker can get in, and why it's pretty absurd for us to be trying to politically integrate with them.

Who or what is that supposed to be? The Black Knight from Monty Python?

Excellent point. Just goes to show how pathetic the party is. The only reason it's even doing somewhat well is because the Labor and Conservative party have continually shot themselves in the foot.

Actually he said that he wanted to be an influencer, to be close to the leadership, not do the actual job of a party member (the hardest job). It's basically the same thing he tried to push when he started GG 2.0 (aka "I dictate the order of the day and the fans send the memes").

It is Lord Buckethead, a candidate in May's constituency, whose second manifesto pledge was

Full facial coverings to be kept legal, especially bucket-related headgear.

The UK has a tradition of putting forward joke candidates in constituencies to mock the whole electoral system, though these candidates traditionally represent The Monster Raving Loony Party

If Carl loses to Daddy Farage, what are the odds we're putting on Carl not renouncing all the things he's said about Nigel, but rather the things he's said about Brexit?

I don't think Carl will spergout about losing, even in his announcement video he has this sort of low mood about it. Instead I believe it will add to a weight on his shoulders and he'll become increasingly depressed.

Something that Vee mentioned and I think has a good amount of validity is that when Carl puts something up on the Thinkery its because he is particularly mad. And considering how frequently he's been posting on it and the weird turns regarding Tarrant/Brevik and the race stuff, it maybe that something in him broke. Like he can't help but yell at an uncaring world that he's totally powerless to help in any significant way. I think he's finally starting to realize this, so that if/when he loses his election it won't be a thunderous crash of his ego but more like a slight thud that validates what he's been dealing with for about a year now.

That its all so tiresome.

sounds awfully optimistic tbh
does he have 10k UK fans? possible, i don't know his sub numbers.
but, assuming he has 10k UK fans, could he actually mobilize 8k of them? never ever.
it's really really easy and convenient to be an anonymous fan of something on the internet by clicking a subscribe button and maybe retweeting a video link. going from that to low level political activism though? not gonna happen, at least not in significant numbers. keyboard warrior slacktivism rarely ever translates into people actually showing up in person to IRL events. at most he can expect to mobilize.. man i don't know, a few dozen guys maybe? and how many of those will stick around and keep at it beyond the first day or two? not many i believe.

And how many of them wont just be autistics who shit themselves the second a voter answers the door to them.

What a pompous shithead.

Also, that is set up perfectly for a Dame Pesos or Memology to edit. For example:

"I'm not here to be politically correct, I'm here to tell the truth" -> cut to "white nibbas"
"I am accountable to my audience" -> throw to Carl promoting Kek/skadilay, the shadilay strangler
"Service guarantees citizenship" -> a scene perfectly illustrating the fascist nature of what it's lifted from

I thought that last line was the worst decision. It makes it too easy to label him as a fascist.

The second worst mistake imo was claiming to be center-left considering the target audience of UKIP. Aren’t most of them social conservatives and generally right leaning? If I was a UKIP supporter that line would make me suspicious of him and his intentions.

whats with his fascination with starship troopers. The book was supposed to represent an Idealistic utopia, for the purpose of imparting particular ideals, something to think about, a more free and good point of view from some that may be labeled as fascist and thus evil, allegorical etc. I don't think you were supposed to read that fiction and believe that it would 1 to 1 work in real life and Make Service guarantees citizenship your political slogan. which also any way you look at it, sounds mighty hypocritical as the slogan for someone who hasn't even served in the military, has no one talked to him about that?

Britons are subjects of the crown
People who live in the EU are citizens of the EU

He is saying that we should join UKIP so that we become citizens of the EU.

He is saying the complete opposite thing of what he means.
