Jim is an audibly sharper wit than Carl ever was. Even in Jim's streams (where he went off the cuff instead of having the opportunity to script) he was capable of sounding pretty sharp and cracking good jokes. I actually think that Jim is (for whatever else one can say about him... like, you know, having a terminal case of yellow fever and having shit taste in liquor) a fairly sharp intellect. Carl's a shining example of Dunning-Kruger, the oracle sitting atop XKCD's Mt. Stupid.

Also, I think British accents are vastly overrated and I like Jim's voice.
