When Joe starts sperging about Graham Hancock and Atlantis and vaults about the sphinx and won't allow the topic the change for the rest of the podcast, you can see Carl crying internally as he knows that it's Joe's signal he's done with him

Well then. So Carl fucks up, can't launch his website, has to scramble to fix it and in the interim, the 350 or so users who showed up to join his site and paid for a month...don't even get a refund. They can't use your service, Carl, why are you keeping their money?

This is Brianna Wu-tier fail.

Also the "No Refunds" meme has jumped from Bernie to Carl.

I actually like Sargon, but I am amazed at how he keeps making idiotic choices.

How on fucking Earth did he think the "Lotuseaters" was a good name for his website? Something like "Ministry of Truth" was almost certainly unavailable(so going without something in this theme), but it would have fitted with his brand and resonated with people who don't know anything about him, hearing about it for the first time.

Then he immediately starts taking subscriptions for his website, without ironing out a single fucking bug.

Why not run the site at no charge for the first month, get heaps of eyeballs on it and work out your various issues with sound, lighting, bandwidth etc?

This comes on top of him predicting a Trump landslide, so he shouldn't be looking half-arsed, yet again, so soon.

Yeah Joe was uncomfortable with how much Sargon was talking about Anita.

at about 1 hour 43 minutes

Joe: "You're talking really fast, are you on Adderall?"
Sargon: "No, it's just I have a lot to tell you and I'm probably not going to be here again, and there is a lot you need to know."
Joe: "Come on man, you're coming back."
Sargon: "Oh I'd love to."

Joe Rogan seems like a normie and he isn't taking anything Sargon is saying seriously.
Rogan: "being attacked as anti-semeiotic is good for PewDiePie"

Joe is a entertaining combination of blue, red, black and white pills. I think he could have a comfy conversation with Mencius Moldbug even though he hasn't read anything like Moldbug, but I think don't think he will.

I wonder at what point Joe decided that Carl is not coming back? After 15 minutes?
I don't even think he wanted him on in the first place. Unless I am misremembering, I think he only got on because TheAmazingAtheist, who had been on the show a couple of times, had asked Joe via Twitter to have him on his show. Watching the episode from the beginning it doesn't seem like Joe is that thrilled in having a conversation with him. He seems very disinterested, low energy, kinda of just not paying attention. It was almost like he was letting Sargon ramble and was just waiting for their time to be up. He argued with him a couple of times over his very stupid double standards.

Looking through the comment it looks like this episode got a little bit of a resurgence lately because it was one of the episodes censored by Spotify.

Not sure about not wanting him on in the first place, but it was pretty clear he thought Sargon was insufferably self absorbed.

Sargon spent whole time assuming everyone knew who he was talking about with "them" "those feminists" which is poison for a more general audience show like joe rogan, and when asked about who they were he would smugly answer "you know who im talking about". He had to either bleed the info out of carl on who/what he was talking about and have him ramble about one person he disliked for ages. Carl doesnt really know how to sell his anger and outrage to normal people, Anita writing random stuff about video game feminism wont incite the masses and makes you look like an obsessed weirdo when you rant about it. At least Alex jones' fixations on his rants target lots of different groups and are at least funny from the absurdity of talking about interdimensional vampire pedos.

I think Carls biggest failure is he is as disconnected with the average joe on the street as the university communists he rants about, he thinks the guy working 12 hours a day in a factory is worried about someone adding more women in video games, or that his rape comments would become some rallying cry across the UK, when really most of the average person in uk just wants to hear alcohol and smoking taxes are being lifted and will they still have enough money to make rent.

it's a reference the the Odyssey he's using to try and seem smart. They were a bunch of people living on an island who spent their days getting high until they forgot about the outside world.

Policy was probably what doomed him more than even all the controversy and bad press. With someone like Trump you still had ideas and proposals to get behind. Negative press didn't destroy him like it did Sargon because when eyes were set on him even when it was through a negative set of lens, he could still present some kind of idea or personality trait that you liked.

Sargon on the other hand had nothing of the sorts. He demanded people talk about his ideas or what he was fighting for, but when they actually discussed those things with him he had nothing. No messages, no proposals, no arguments. He flat out admitted in an interview that he had no idea what was the power that came with the job. When all attention was drawn to him, people had nothing to latch onto that could convince them that all the negative press was in fact a hit job. They instead saw a creepy and out of control egomaniac.

I really think Sargon expected that he could just plow through into office on his name alone.

I like how Sargon’s master plan to become a media figure a la Bannon is to just copy Tim Pool and try to nuke his previous persona.

Bannon is now basically just a talk radio crank that is increasingly autistic. Sargon is more than halfway there now.
Yeah, it's why I find alt media in general a big disappointment. All these kinds of people say they're going to build news media organizations and only succeed in building more elaborate echo chambers for themselves. Ones that are STILL reliant on MSM instead of shifting over to citizen journalists or interpreting primary sources.

The thing is Bannon has a way better resume than Sargon. If Sargon had Tim Pool's work ethic maybe he could compete but he doesn't. Even if Bannon is a cow at this point in 2020, he has a successful history as a film maker, navy veteran and breitbart chief editor, investment banker and whatever you want to call what he did with World of Warcraft (Gold Farm Manager?)

The key problem with the Lotus Eaters, aside from the name of course, is that it's identical to his earlier content; him talking to some guy (I assume his secretary) about politics. It's not a shift to history, art, religion, or literature which would fit the name better and it's not about recreational drug use either. What is the point of watching this new content?

The only really successful "alt-media" news organizations that actually attempt to fulfill what they said they want to be are The Daily Wire and Rubin Report.* I do not count Subverse (now SCNR) as it looks like a giant investment scam that even Tim, the CEO, avoids like the plague (now COVID).

*I want to make a honorable mention for California Insider-The Epoch Times. Low subscriber count+only focusing on a single state's issues keep it from

Yeah I'd understand if he was just doing a few shows with his secretary to fill the time until he can get some guests, but it just seems really lazy. Like he can't throw Dankula or someone else the shekels to make the trip or chat over zoom or with them not on screen like his previous streams?
