Pretty sure when I fucked a 17 y/o at 18 I wasn't a pedo, but I also wasn't fantasizing about raping and impregnating teenagers so much younger than me that the difference was literally puberty. All you people going "no prosecutor will take this case" are just so :optimistic: it's both charming and frustrating. If prosecutors never prosecuted people for things that shouldn't be crimes, nobody would face any consequences for things like marijuana possession or selling unlicensed firearms. We live in a country where children sometimes face legal trouble for operating lemonade stands without proper licensing.

Maybe you're right. Maybe no prosecutor will take this case and he'll get off scott free. But if someone does, are you all going to be shocked Pikachu face? All of you being publicly not mad that a 19-year-old has nudes of a 17-year-old, well, what if he were 25? What if he were 35? At what point does having nude pictures of a 17-year-old become a crime? The law doesn't care. Prosecutors, if they follow the law by the letter, won't care.

And all of you still going "but the age of consent is…" are fucking retards. Again, age of consent laws and CP laws can and often do use different numbers.

Based on how his “friends” are responding/coming out of the woodwork on this it almost feels like a hit piece.

Knowing his humor that pregnancy game easily could’ve been something he was setting up for a video by sitting on the title screen for 1000 hours or some shit.

I would almost bet he told them back in March and nothing came of it, but he recently mentioned something along the lines of going public and these people are getting out ahead of him so they can’t be associated and are seen as the heroes.

This is all tinfoil hat theory, but knowing how the internet and Twitter culture is these days, and how this friend group was raised by it, I wouldn’t doubt they backstabbed him for clout.

Especially looking at how people like Noah are trying to milk it as some amazing achievement for internet points.

A 17 y/o with a 19 y/o is basically nothing, even if he was being creepy about it, let alone a “child” as Charlie put it.

This basically just boils down to another kid getting too famous too fast.

That's what I'm thinking too. As is, I really don't think anyone would touch this case. If he was sharing the nudes or if one of these girls was 14 or something, definitely a different situation then. But then why hold onto the info until now (the grift, I know)?

I think all these people look bad and will look worse if something more comes of it. They effectively nuked all their reputations if that's the game they're playing rn.

I'm mostly on board with the point you're trying to make. The power issue does typically appear in serious settings like the workplace, but it's just a social pattern that can show up in any group of people with a hierarchal structure, even communities of spergs. It's heavily dependent on how seriously the people involved take it.

It of course doesn't absolve the 'less powerful' person of responsibility; it's a two-way street, though I agree that in this case 'power play' is probably not what happened. That was my reason for giving a few hypotheticals about how Carson saw himself in the picture; he would need to know he had 'power' in another person's eyes in order to take advantage using it. If she thought he was powerful but he didn't, that's a misunderstanding. He probably saw himself as a nobody who got lucky, especially at 19. I just don't blame people for considering the other possibilities, which is mostly what I was getting at.
