Slight tangent: how many professionals in the industry do you know of that are completely obsessed with something to an unhealthy degree? Or, at minimum, won't shut up about it on social media? Ignoring politics btw (since we know what the industry is like); I mean cases like Kiana Mai where 90% of their posts are related to one very specific thing, and they will go out of their way to do shit like post about how they made their coworkers indulge in their obsession (first pic rel) or spam their art of this thing more than anything relating to their cartoon show.

I'm beginning to develop a theory that it's impossible to be a professional animator without indulging in some form of genuine insanity so I'm curious. Especially now that we've reached a point in animation where 90% of the new hires are plucked straight out of the pits of tumblr/twitter.

'Tism doesn't even begin to describe this disorder.

As a massive Jessiefag (& Jameschad) myself, this is pure autism.

Remember when our ancestors used to be someone like Chuck Jones

Hey, Chuck wasn't a handsome man himself, but he could back up his autism with genuine skill and professionalism to earn the utmost respect from his colleagues. Everyone in the industry mourned his passing because they lost someone of worth. No one will mourn this current strain of "animators" when they pass into the night surrounded by their "furbabies".

it's worse when they actually include their obsessions on the shows they work on...

Here's a clip from the episode in question.

Here's a reaction to that AI animation video by an ex-Disney animator to contrast the AI sperging.

Weirdly enough, said sperging is happening here too, in the comment section. This is probably the 3rd time art industry is going through a paradigm shift after Cameras & Photoshop. Except this time it's zoomer artfags/inkcels, who are even more insufferable then anyone else before.

Chuck Jones actually looked like Burt Reynolds, and through looks alone, he’s probably more of a man that keeps his ideas and shares them to the world without having to apologize for what his elders before him used to do in animation.

The urban millennial American has been a disaster for western animation
More proof that The Boondocks was the last great example of what the urban millennial experience looked like, even if certain kung fu fighting scenes looked like they were lifted from Afro Samurai and Naruto.

Corridor Crew did an Animator's React video & Tom & Tony Bancroft apparently loved the AI animation of theirs. Mind you, it was shot 3 days before the AI animation video was uploaded by Corridor.

Edit: Forgot to add video.
