Corridor Crew did an Animator's React video & Tom & Tony Bancroft apparently loved the AI animation of theirs. Mind you, it was shot 3 days before the AI animation video was uploaded by Corridor.
That's because they were real animators compared to the troons that call themselves as such

Does anybody think there is a sizeable gap in western animation for an action-oriented series post-2013? I find that, besides Primal, and the Samurai Jack final season there hasn't been much on the level of say, a Generator Rex. With both Child and Adult animation being constantly geared towards comedy (or comedy with mild action at best) there might be a proper space for something like that again.

Shounen sells like crazy with young people and action-oreinted Seinen have had a bit of a resurgence after Berserk's author died, so you would think studioheads would want to emulate that success regardless of what their plagued animators say in protest? Merchandise money talks more than tweets ultimately, so it's maybe worth a thought.

Studio/network exces are part of the issue with that. Action animation died out in the west since toy companies that funded it pulled out. There isn't a thriving comic/novel scene in the west that can be used to pull properties you know could make a profit either. So you are going in with an unproven idea that requires a lot of money to pull off. This is a time where studios/networks don't want to take major risks period. Not to mention how little you can get away with action wise on western tv nowadays. Shounen will out class your show unless you fight tooth and nail for networks to actually loosen standards.

I am not saying it couldn't work. We would need leadership that can take a risk, push boundaries (in the right way), and know to make it pay off. I fear people like that don't even exist in western animation anymore. We get nothing but garbage because its safe and cheap. No one wants to push boundaries unless its how much gay sex you can show in a children's a cartoon (arguably even that isn't risky).

That's the core of it right there. Shounen anime is 90% of the time based off a reasonably successful manga, so you have a proven concept with a built-in audience. Even then, the merchandizing carries the series most of the time. The entire mecha genre is dependant on toy and model sales; that's why every mech has like three or four transformation forms.

American comics are dominated by capeshit and the primary buyers are 40-year-old white dudes, so good luck getting your American action comic in front of eyeballs. Your only other options are small publishers or self-publish. Chances are you won't make the numbers to make it worthwhile to some exec to greenlight a cartoon based on your property. And even if it does, model building isn't the same dominant hobby in the West as it is in Japan. I don't think it's a coincidence that the only major fantasy action series in the West since Legend of Korra is Vox Machina, a proven concept that has made possibly millions for Matt Mercer LLC, and has a merchandizing tie-in with DnD.

Western animation creatives really are in a "damned if they do, damned if they don't" situation. Take a risk and put out something original as if it's still 2009, you get fuck all viewership and merch sales. Play it safe with a tame story and allow the likes of Rebecca Sugar, Karli & Co to force ESG/fetish aspects in your show, receive minor to modest attention and funding. Where is this industry going. The only demographics it seems to consistently have over time are generally very young kids around 4-10 years old. Rick & Morty (prob the biggest "mature" cartoon) is also in noticeable critical decline with Gen z as the writers continually shafted the show for the past 6 years and insult their own fans with bad, and condescending writing.

Is Japan just going to fully corner the market and officially take over everything consumed by that 11-25 demographic in 10 years? It's adapt or die and cashcows like SpongeBob, R&M and Teen Titans go can only last so long with their aging VAs (or controversy)

As much I'm liking the rising asian soft power media on the west, I'm gonna be annoyed if this is gonna start another rise of shitty anime like cartoons which are not even unique and are gonna be shamelessly advertised like "omg 'member that shonen anime u like?!?! Here's a souless hacky copycat cartoon of that but with more blacks, gays and trannies!! Pls retweet on twatter tnx!"
I'm already tired of the generic magical girl (sailor moon & utena mainly) inspired comics/cartoons coming from the west, what more when we have to deal with shittier shonen.

They've been doing it since the 2000's & it failed every time. There's a reason Marvel (Spider-Man: Fake Red, Deadpool Samurai) & DC (One Operation Joker) have just given mangakas the rights to make their mangas. The results of it have also been kino, cause Deadpool Samurai literally outsold every Marvel comic of the year it came out.

I know, I'm also gonna be annoyed when every north american corpofaggot will only outsource their shit media to asians instead of actually improving or doing their own local stuff. Almost all cartoons now are outsourced to overworked Korean animators.
As much I love japanese media, I would like some kind of diversity and unique identity not just westerners making japanese inspired shit in every thing or only the japanese are doing the art for lazy westerners and calling it western media.
Edit: At least the french are still good.

With French animation, they're more accomplished than Americans. Fuck, even Canadian animation is surprisingly doing better than American animation with their companies.

maybe at actually making their own cartoons, but unfortunately all of those cartoons are total dogshit
that or Teletoon just had an utterly terrible line-up, but idk. Every Candian-made cartoon i've watched has just been of exceptionally low quality save for a few preschool shows.

you look at johnny test and tell me canada did okay
I loved it as a kid so your opinion is wrong...

But yeah, I genuinely can't tell what life long fuckeries has this show done to me. The whip sounds just ring in my head everytime I talk about it (including writing this comment), like a schizo. I also might have gotten a twins fetish due to this show.

Credit where it's due tho, I still prefer this show over the goyslop produced today by Western Animation. Not including the reboot obviously.

Look, I'm not talking about them quality-wise. Yes, most of them are shit, but at least they mostly have their own animation studios that they animate themselves than just outsource to another studio, unlike the US.

Idk if I'd really call Canadian goyslop better than American goyslop. Goyslop is still goyslop goyim.
That being said Blingbling boy is still the most gigachad character in the show and I heard the reboot is at least marginally better (well until it got cancelled anyways).
