All it's telling me is that whoever drew it has never been to a club.
If these people were competent, they would get together and make their own indie studios. Far easier said than done but a market still exists for animation. I can't wait for the internet to be flooded with low-effort "relatable" webcomics instead!Stumbled upon this interesting little comic someone made.

Mediocre relatable webcomics or mediocre relatable indie cartoons, pick your poison. If these people were competent, they would get together and make their own indie studios. I really don’t like self-inserts. To me, they feel like one of the lowest forms of writing. They’re just so boring, and as you said, it doesn’t appeal to anyone but the guy who wrote it.Daily reminder, these people are not writing stories to entertain or appeal to a mainstream audiece. They are writing self insert deluded fantasies that only appeal to themselves and their navel-gazing peers.
Almost anything with normal words but a X guy is bound to be boring.Mediocre relatable webcomics or mediocre relatable indie cartoons, pick your poison.
Nick Cross?Really? Want to back up that claim?

Personally I don't mind "self inserts" or "audience surrogates" so as long as they're executed well. The issue with a lot of modern cartoon self inserts is their half-assed attempts at making them characters but rather borderline mary sues who can do no wrong and you're a meany if you point that out. Of course they can have flaws and fuck up sometimes, but status quo is god and all is forgiven in the end. It's so common it's intoxicating.I really don’t like self-inserts. That being said, I feel like a self-insert fantasy could be interesting if the author had some experience or was pretty creative.
I'm gonna call it, its kickstarter is gonna fail spectacularly before it even gets to its deadline.
Discussions about budget and toys like this make me think about how low of a budget you could work with and still make a "good" product (aside from resorting to slave labor animation I mean). Like, how much lack of animation quality could you make up for with good writing, ideas, direction and general SOVL? Especially with the rise of AI art shit, which even without more advanced shit like auto-inbetweening or other shit that's not really developed yet, you could use it to fill in gaps like creating background art and shit just using free apps. How much could you disconnect animation from the profit motive or whatever the fuck while still putting out a product that people would actually consoom?
I have neither the skills nor the work ethic to do something like that on my own though. Hey, anyone wanna start up a shitty animation studio? P:
The middle girl looks like a design I have seen somewhere else before, I'm just having a hard time figuring out who. I only say this because modern Western magical girl cartoons always rip designs from other shows (usually anime) and call it "influenced", and she in particular is ringing some bells. And no, it's not the shorts and leggings combo, it's the hair alongside it.
12 Oz. Mouse was a masterpiece.
