When I read Atlas Shrugged, I thought Rand was being a bit cartoonish around the depiction of James Taggart who would focus on the awards given to him by magazines and the elite when everything around him was failing. That those awards would be given specifically to ones who furthered ideology rather than got results. I guess I completely underestimated the shallowness of these people and the reverence they give to institutions in order to increase their self worth. She doesn't care about viewership or art because she got an award from other people who make therapy toons. She'll burn through billions of brand goodwill and in the end blame those brands for not empowering her enough. And she thinks she's a beautiful and brilliant person, not because of any accomplishments, but because of her identity.
Their industry probably has 5-10 more years before it will either completely clean house, or are destroyed by independent studios, foreign studios, and other mediums.
