I think it is very hard to make a good kid's show nowadays because if it is good is gonna attract childless man-children. That is what happened with Bluey, it was created to educate children in a way it would also be engaging to their parents so that incentivized them to spend time with their children and being with them when they watch cartoons so that they can supervise what the children see (as they should). But unfortunately this attracts other adults who become hardcore fans, and when this happens the internet gets flooded with weird fetish content made by said adults.
It really sucks to be a kid, you either have to consume cocomelon slop that will burn your neurons, you can watch political propaganda that will brainwash you into supporting the current thing without questioning, or you can enjoy a good kids show but be vulnerable to the weird adult fanbase around it, and with internet so accessible to children nowadays it is almost impossible for them to not find fetish content and get groomed.
I imagine being a competent parent is so hard nowadays, you gotta work, make your parent chores, taking care of your family, provide to said family and also you need to make sure 24/7 that your child is not at risk from using the internet without supervision and make sure they are not watching garbage

Both are bad, really. Kids should enjoy watching cartoons again for them being enjoyable, not to appease the Current Thing and mentally stunted individuals who'll rely on a character meant to be appealing for kids to justify their mental delusions. We've long gone far with this. I have yet to hear about any modern kids show with a fandom that isn't filled with genderspecials ruining every bit of it and people shoehorning politics in between all of them. It gets tiring having to hear some Twitter user talk about how trans-coded or any LGBT-coded a canonical child character is or them lumping in the political affairs of the world onto the show, even if that show does hint some references to political situations.
I fucking hate this. This is one of the "dark trio" (or dark square, haven't made the count yet) of bad things about what makes a cartoon terrible. Honestly, I should right now, bear with me please:
  • People who don't know how to fucking write and insert the equivalent of goyslop on cartoons. Terrible choice that will make your cartoon forgettable in just a year;
  • Making shipping wars and wanting to make deepest lore or genius stuff/characters redemmable - expanding upon: "oh no, we must add a dark past to this poor character otherwise the general watchers won't like them". MLP was chock full of that, and it fucking SUCKED. All they missed to do that was one for Cozy Glow, when she deserved an Eric Cartman treatment;
  • "Look, said character of the cartoon says "x rights" or "y is bad". Fuck off and die in a fire;
  • Getting cameos of "known """""influencers""""" to make your cartoon seem more lively. Honestly, it doesn't, it's horrible. Fuck off;
  • And an extra, but this the cast has no control over, but I find hilarious/horrible: the fandom attatching over the "POPULAR THING": and doing voice overs fan comic work or playing characters in live streams and attracting children to... get views. Not even lolcows like DSP would get shitty "Mr. Views" sort of crap. I may need to exemplify what I mean, but this is less worse than adding "alphabet soup" or """"indoctrination"""" to a cartoon (and again, the creators have NO control over this, but to me this makes it seem like your series is seen as a low brow in general):
    • Let's pick Hazbin/Helluva & TADC. If you look in general on youtube, there's channels pandering to people doing a poor man's version of """ASMR""" (where people talk at ambient volume as opposed to whispered) videos playing characters from the show, doing read through of comics and general fanfiction, VRChat and """"Funny moments""" and so much more. Why? Views! But can you imagine someone doing that to a good fucking show like Ed Edd n Eddy? Well, maybe - but it won't bring in views. It's just the current "everyday gossip". I don't blame them, but I just added as extra because some channels make the hilarious terms like "(Fandom name) Family" and it's so fucking hilarious. And terrible.
Is there any kids cartoon at all today that is purely for entertainment? I'm so sick and tired of shows trying to have DEEPEST LORE and fucking relationship drama. Do you know how fucking BORING relationship drama was to me as a kid? Do they really think this is what kids want? Every show runner wants to be seen as a genius and win awards when kids just want to see characters in funny situations. I miss when the entire town could explode and not be part of some deepest lore storyline bullshit. But then we get the brain rottingly stupid fart joke shows. There is no winning, just show your kids reruns of looney tunes and spongebob.
I hear you. I guess serialized formats may fall in this trap, but some episodic too - if they want establish continuity. When I was a kid, I wanted to imagine myself "meeting" the characters, and how would they act meeting me. And how would the plot change thanks to that - maybe thanks to my autism lol - regardless, it's what an early child would imagine I guess. older kids would want something that would make them think and make them entertained, no doubt. Teens probably want something more geared towards adults or involving dramas.
LoL I still don't know much of Hank Scorpio. Got to say that as much!

I stopped feeling pity for Bluey the moment they gave up and decided to go "fine, here's some alphabet soup stuff - we give up" or was it "we always planned to add into it"? Whichever it may be, perhaps they meant for something good. Until it became "MLP:FiM - The new Cancer"

I can't imagine how depressing it must be as a kid today where every cartoon made is a vanity project or literal propaganda created by childless (wo)manchildren meant to be watched by other childless (wo)manchildren.
No wonder kids just watch anime and livestreamers now.
I feel like most shit made for childless womenchildren is more unbearable than the shit for manchildren.

Womanchild shit always comes off an insecure. It’s Harry Potter and Magical Girl shit that can’t have confidence in its setting so it’s sarcastic about it. It’s written solely for late 20’s to mid 30’s women and appeals to their awful sense of humor. The person I picture is some art student who’s developed IBS and their sense of humor is basically snarky comments that they dream up the day after some event. They aren’t even the fat girl adding clip art to the weekly schedule because that woman has actual children and developed as a person after highschool.

I haaaate this so much. This shit plagues a lot of media now, from movies to shows to video games to comics and so. It's like western audiences are still embarrassed to be nerdy so everything must be slightly sarcastic and self referential. This is one of the many issues with the minecraft movie for example.

There’s a video called Millennial writing by some Aussie who goes over it in games, but to bring it back to Western Cartoons there is someone who mocks it very well. Zach Hadel/ Psychic Pebbles riffs on it well in Oney Plays (Forspoken, Saints Row Reboot) and in Smiling Friends where half the jokes are the characters genuinely reacting to an insane world.

Ahh, yes, the Millennial Writing video from ShreddedNerd.
He even made the Minnennial Characters video, discussing how autistically retarded looking characters have become.

But to get back on track, ShreddedNerd hit as to why a lot of modern entertainment has become so shit is because they're all being made by the out-of-touch, spoiled narcissist, whose understanding of the world can never go beyond L.A. and probably less than that.

The kind of people who are incapable of separating themselves from the internet would most likely not last a second in a blackout, and despite how desperate they tried so hard appear "unique," the reality is that they're insanely fucking shallow with no depth whatsoever.

They'll make "quirky" jokes that no kid would ever laugh at, let alone giggle, yet at the same time, they're so insufferably pretentious and preachy, despite the fact they barely understand how the world works, they're very definition of a midwit.

MentisWave goes into great detail as to why Midwits are insufferable, and while they might have higher I.Q.s than those they despised and look down on, the ability to understand reality is ultimately fuck due to how biased they are.

But again, the worst part about these types of people is that they're utter hypocrites who don't give a damn about other people but like to pretend.
It's part of the reason all their shows always feel disingenuous when they try to make you sympathize with dictators who have killed billions of people, but somehow, the guy who made the mean comment is worse and deserves to have their life ruined.

You see, all the time in shows like Steven Universe, The Owl House, RWBY, and even Hazbin Hotel.
They always, and do always mean, create these strawmen for the creators to vent their frustrations toward someone who hurt their feelings, so they use shows as personal Tumblr blogs to project their frustrations.

It's so insanely petty that it's part of the reason why so many modern cartoons are so shit when they're being made by the most insecure people on the planet.

Great video. Midwits are even more dangerous because they have the intellect to rise above and gain knowledge, but at the same time - see themselves as illuminated and with the "objective" to enlighten everyone else about concepts. A saviour complex, one may call.

It's one of the reasons I didn't care about Steven Universe & The Owl House in particular. The Gem backgrounds seem interesting, even if the concept was apparently... "borrowed"? (I forgot, whatever). There's too much fucking drama and animation being used as a "daycare" for me to be exposed for this level of insanity. "Being quirky" and having "Marvel" level humour should be prohibited, by the way. Not something from those two cartoons, but just saying.

Sometimes I wonder in what kind of world the writers of the show lived in to repeat the "Low-Rise Jeans? That's so Early 2000's" joke twice

Is this some kind of californian shit I don't get? I still see people wearing jeans like that nowdays

yeah I don't know if it's something where I'm no longer doing hyumon socializing as much or something, but I don't really notice any great difference in everyday fashion, a lot of it is basically the same as it's been since the 90s or so outside of really goofy stuff like super huge jeans, and the advent of yoga pants?

They're uncomfortable for the average cartoon-writing woman because they sit under her belly flap/belt buckle covering stomach roll, and the waistband or belt digs into her ample side fat/love handles. You know, like when you try on a pair of low-rise jeans that are a size too small, except once you have a tire made of biscuit dough in the place where pants sit, all non-yoga or non-high-waisted pants feel like that.

So, basically, because it shows that they are fat?

Happens in the median families. And in the worst too.

What is it with Millennials trying to rewrite history and make up the 2000s look like the dark ages

They do this with ever age. Remember the discourse on how we should remember the "bigotry" of the media of the 90s and how any good thing from the 40s to the 60s that doesn't exist today is dismissed because of the racism and sexism of the period. It is just another way of showing that liberalism is good because the present is the best time and also just so happens to be the most liberal time, please ignore everything bad unless it is caused by those evil Republicans.

Yes, but it is oftentimes not done by the people who lived in that era. These millenials just sound like a "woe is me" type of people

You could say "nigger" and "retarded" online back then. You could even say "kill" or "die" instead of "unalive". Dark, dark ages. Now everyone is hurt by words on the screen.
