All I want is an action comedy cartoon that has two good fight scenes in a season. Seriously I’d take the “normal person dealing with an absurd world” if it meant you’d have some people who just deal with crazy shit going in by shrugging.

My ideal would be the support staff for a super hero or something. You could do an office comedy and different heroes be shameless shills or stone cold killers pretending they aren’t.

Who the fuck wants dyke having a panic attack or Harry Potter and the Bi-curious-girl-who-will-later-in-life-only-date-men-because-a-female-stalker-tried-to-commit-suicide-in-her-bathroom-after-a-breakup?

I don't mean to be rude or anything, but we're kinda coming up on DeviantArt's peak (late 2000s - early 2010s) being 20 years in the rear view mirror.
I know but I haven't really seen a big wave of love for it like 80s, 90s and general y2k nostalgia. Just depression or people who are still kids who don't know emos were mocked in their original time period.

In their insistence that representation is important they forget to tell a universal story. They also don't realize that their inner world is uninteresting if not completely off-putting.

Apparently it's already reached it's goal after only a few hours.

Happy for them, but $80k seems pretty low for something of their quality in le current year even though half the episode (?) is already done. Maybe they aimed low on purpose?

EDIT: And looking again 3 hours later they gained $20k more putting them at about $100k. Interesting...

In other words, it’s basically Scooby-Doo meets Resident Evil, but for people who shop at Hot Topic. We’ve done everything we can to really capture the feel of a 1980’s horror comedy set in the gothic/nerd culture of the mid-2000’s.
Telling me your cartoon is DeviantArt tier on purpose doesn't make me want to watch it. DA and sparkledogs are deader than disco and haven't wrapped around to being cool again yet...
To bring up another issue, I feel a lot of media would have a better shot at breaking into the cultural zeitgeist if creators did more to help convey how and why their media stands out on its own, rather than comparing it to pre-existing media. Eventually, you'll run into the issue of "Well, if it's like _______, I'll just watch the original" or the idea that one thing is just an inferior version of another thing.

>draw girl, call it a boy
>he's goth because...black clothes
>no goth music on the character playlist
Ooooof.

Nooooo stalker child, unlike you, we understand that dork* clothes and attitude are more important than music. Your argument is already ruined. :tomlinson:

*Misspelling intentional.

I thought it was an anime influence thing —one of those androgynous/pretty boy kind of characters like Kurapika from Hunter x Hunter— until I looked at his full body design. Those hips!

According to the same page, he's also "demisexual panromantic". Oooh, boy.

Ashley might want to separate herself from Hazbin nowadays, but Vivzie's "eccentricities" clearly rubbed off on her.

Honestly, in my fucking opinion. 2000s-2010s were the best years of Animation, not because I am biased and was born in 2004. No, it feels that way with games and music too. Nothing could ever capture that essence at all. Unless, if you were born in that era and still retained the cringe meter and haven't trooned out and revolved your life around SJWShit. Or you yourself grew up during that era born in the superior 90s. I feel as though that Cel Animation was the peak of Animation before they dropped off to make Digital stuff.

One of these days, I hope to recapture Cel Animation in the year 2025, but that'll be a couple of Dragon Ball GTs becoming canon before that happens. Only a optimistic fag can hope.
for me it's the rough period in between 1991-2012.
also there's this guy on youtube who makes animations in this style. only one that i know of and wish more people took it up. really adds charm to his work:

I will literally drag my balls across glass (I do not have balls as this is a figure of speech.) to see Cel Animation again. I have SpongeBob Golden Years on a DVD from S1 to S4. That's not the only guy there was someone who animated Modern SpongeBob in the style of Classic SpongeBob.

AFAIK, only Season 1 of Spongebob was animated with cels, with Season 2, 3, and every one afterward being animated digitally. Spongebob was kind of a trailblazer in that regard.

Eh, they mostly just ripped shit off from Utena and made crappy music videos that use ballet and boxing.
I didn't say I liked it but some of them were technically good, not off model and shittily choreographed. The ballet thing must be like animating horses (i.e hard). I'd rather watch it than stiff nu-Simpsons or any sweatshop CGI cartoon But yes her actual story suffered greatly from being too derivative of Utena and the fairy tale shit was cluttered and self-indulgent on top of the ayyylien space tech and the feminine mystical tumblr crystals vibe all at the same time
