reminds me of this

It's things like this that at least a year of hard labor might fix.
You could say commie pinkos, particularly the tankies - or as they are called "red fascists" - had interesting ideas: if someone will just do "mental masturbation", you will be more useful doing work on gulag-like conditions than doing nothing.

Forced labour would "fix" a lot of these retards. Optmistic, but maybe spark a kickstart.

3d Artists are the most soulless type of artist - and I am one, so I know a few of 'em in real life - Without fail, 3d artists will always think they can adopt their favorite art style from a completely different medium and do it in 3d graphics, never understanding what is lost in translation. If you look at Luca, it's very clear that some underqualified youngling at Pixar was watching Ponyo for the fiftieth time and thought they could just.... do it in 3d. (but LOVECRAFTIAN, you guys!!!!!) Without realizing that once it's no longer hand-drawn, it's shit. Also see: Strange World, which was apparently supposed to be inspired by old adventure comics like Tintin but you'd never know it in a million years because the 3d artists responsible have no aesthetic sense. There's like a scrap of the Tintin artstyle in there, but it's buried to the point of obscurity under modern "concept art" video game sensibilities (the enemies are called "reapers" for fucks sake), chicks with the sides of their heads shaved, aesthetics pulled from Overwatch and League of Legends and a million things that are nauseatingly incompatible with anything retro or classic. I also believe that that game Concord that lost 400 million dollars last year was a similar attempt to adapt Jean Giraud (Moebius)'s psychedelic 70's Heavy Metal magazine art, again, into soulless 3d and filtered through a millennial lens that's completely fucked on Overwatch.
So to conclude, no Pixar, your beanmouth characters such as Elio look nothing like studio Ghibli's lovely hand drawn artwork and Miyazaki does not respect you.

A major issue with post 2018-Disney/Pixar is their inherit inability to adapt in the post-Spiderverse era. In the 2020s, all the other major movie studios are making greater efforts to break out of the "generic CGI movie" mold and try new things or styles. The most Disney was willing to do was essentially throw a filter on Wish, their big 100th anniversary film that at one point was originally gonna be 2D before they got cold feet. Meanwhile, look at the Spiderverse duology, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, etc.

I refuse to believe *this* is their big celebration film. Just watch the short film as that's 1000x more soulful and appreciative of their IPs than whatever Wish was.

It's as simple as looking at CGI anime that attempt to keep the same look to know it feels wrong, and these animators can't even do that little bit of research?

You need a dedicated and coordinated team of 2D and 3D artists with a common project vision for the transition to work. Only good example which comes off the top of my head is Team Fortress 2 - it's a game which has it's artstyle based in 60's caricatures, primarily inspired by Norman Rockwell and J.C Layendecker.

Yeah I should clarify that of course all great looking digital characters began as paintings, and with a true understanding of the style you're immersing yourself in and some restraint, you can get excellent stylized cgi. Then, on the other hand -
On the left page you've got an example of that obviously Ghibli derived stuff, which I just think is so ill-advised. You don't work at Pixar if what you're interested in is anime, people, it's not that complicated. I'll leave it to others to figure out what the hell is going on on the right

Haha, on the left they couldn't even get one or two artists with the same visual idea; What project was this for?
Decided to look up James Woods (did the art on the right page), and I found his Instagram:

Is that kid dressed in drag on the upper-lefthand picture? Fucking gross. James needs a hard drive check.

Modern animation is invariably ugly, it seems. We reached a point where memetic Cal Arts is almost good compared to these abominations.
I would agree and to callout CN specifically, for their staff seem to all like Japanese Anime and Tumblr art which leads to the outcome of horrible design and less FPS of animation.

Alright, what else has this guy draw-

I could immediately tell just by the art style, especially on the woman.

Hey there!, a friend of mine told me you guys liked my rather crude comic so I made an account right now just to say thanks. I'm thinking of doing more that tackle similar toon industry subjects in the future. Especially as the western animation industry continues to go down the shitter. It could make for some exciting stuff. also, sorry that some of you encountered my fast array of furry smut, that stuff isn't for everyone. I'm a degenerate for cartoon animal women unfortunately. But hey it could be worse.

anyways cheers!,

- Brad
