Frankly, I think a lot of these people would be happier and more well-adjusted if they got a well paying day job that allowed them to keep art and animation as a hobby. There are so many free and low-cost animation programs now, you could still noodle around on your spare time and create some cool stuff, exactly how you'd want it.
You’re right, that would make them happier, however, that requires a form of humility that just isn’t cultivated in today’s culture, especially in these art schools.

Agreed, and I'd add it isn't cultivated in online artspaces. There is way too much circlejerking and hero worship of certain personalities and they NEVER seem to get over the online rush of that to function that well IRL.

Keep in mind, I don't know if this is 100% true or not. But from what I am hearing, Bluey adults are flagging any comments making fun of them as hate speech on YouTube, Reddit and Twitter.
>please stop your little seed spawns from talking to me about it? It's giving me the ick

My dude, you literally have a cartoon character from a preschool children's show inked onto your body. Of fucking COURSE you're going to get kids talking to you about your Bluey tattoo, what in the absolute fuck are you talking about "giving you the ick"??? YOU'RE the one that got the tattoo, take your fucking consequences and deal with it.

I agree with you, but I'd go one step further and ask why they demand such fulfilling creative careers in the first place. Don't get me wrong, a job you can be proud of and makes you happy is great. But why do so many people want to derive their creative self-actualization from the same source they derive their money from. Or why can't they just do the animation pipeline while on the clock and then work on more personal projects at home?

Why do people who hate corporations and work and want to smash capitalism derive so much self-worth from what they do to draw a paycheck?

Why can't a job just be a job, not your whole life?

I think it's a result of confusing your specialty and craft. We all have certain traits that lend us an advantage in some field of work\creation - call it your assigned craft. But, as we develop those skills, we find that they can be used in different situations - from that we find a specialty.

So, you can be a linguist, but work as a receptionist - elements of your craft are needed for this specialty, but a person with different capabiilities can take this job and be succeful at it as well; Although it would take them longer due to not being as versed in speech as a linguist. You would be better off working as a translator, writer or a negotiator, actually - but you might've chosen a different job due to the conditions you are in.

These people probably think you can only have one job in your entire life, that's why they break down so bad when their main source of income gets shutdown - they can't or don't want to apply their skills to find a new one.

A child gave him the ick? What the fuck does that even mean. The ick is exclusively used in the context of a woman deciding whether or not she wants to fuck a guy and finding red flags, so I can only assume this means that this bluey adult was madly attracted to these children before the kids started asking about his tattoo and it turned him off.
We live in the age of freakazoids picking up on easily adopted modern lingo and adopting it into their vocabulary in a half-hearted attempt to make themselves seem hip and normal

Technically anime, but felt like posting since it involves the two chicks Vic lost his defamation suit against getting replaced by low-rent versions because Amazon couldn't be arsed to give a shit

One can only imagine just how much Troll's Remorse the original VAs and writers for the S1 dub have right now.

Chris Sabat has basically done everything short of getting on his knees and begging forgiveness for ever voicing Garterbelt.
Would have been hilarious if Amazon had just gotten another white guy to voice him anyway.

This is the part that cuts off any sympathy I’d have for their plight.
What kind of retard, in 2025, with every advantage an independent animator has in terms of digital animation software, remote networking, crowdfunding, social media marketing, etc etc etc… would want to sell off their intellectual property to a mega conglomerate that WILL screw them?!

Is the validation from Daddy Disney really so worth it? Knowing FULL WELL that you could end up losing your concept FOREVER if someone like David Zaslav decides your baby is more lucrative as a tax write-down than filler for the streaming platform? It happens all the time.

Edit: grammar

I gotta repost my own OC 'toss real quick because I think it really encapsulates the cognitive dissonance between "artists who wants to own what they make" and "AI IS TAKING OUR JERBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
1751606463058.webp
I think every artist has always dreamed of making their own cartoon at one point or another, maybe even right now, but the overall cost of producing it, both in time and money, was just too much considering how many resources you'd need to pour in to make an episode and even then the RoI doesn't compare to more lucrative options like gaming, livestreaming, or pumping out slop by the hour with AI and raking in the AdSense. Even with the current tools and lower entry bar, there's still a high level of manual work needed for your animation to look good, which of course eats up your time here on Earth. So imagine that in 2025, there's a new tool where manual animating could potentially be entirely automated via machines, thus shaving off literal months of work allowing you to push out episodes faster and achieve your dreams of becoming the independent creator of YOUR OWN cartoon! No longer do you have to go through bullshit corporate ladder climbing just to get a fraction of a CHANCE to get your show greenlit (and even then, there's always the option that Corpo could just pull the plug entirely if it isn't raking in Spongebob money by the first episode).
But for some god knows what reason, artfaggots fucking HATE the idea of AI automating their work for them. I understand making straight AI slop/art doesn't look appealing beyond "it's cool a computer made that", but think of the bigger picture like how you could sketch in movement of a character walking and the AI would finish the look of it entirely. Or how AI could automatically color every frame of an animation, or that AI would fill in the in-betweens of every frame that was manually drawn. The possibilities of cutting down time and effort for a finished product is endless, yet artists would rather slave away taking forever to make their "GIGA STUDIO GHIBLI PIXAR AKIRA MOVIE 9000 (WITH BLACKJACKS AND HOOKERS!)" cartoon that's never coming out instead of finding ways on cutting down the work while maintaining a level of quality. Like many other times the paradigm was shifted for humanity throughout history, this is all just a phase and as the years go by, people will be more accepting of integrating AI into their workflow once it gets better and they won't be autistically, vehemently against it.

The first iterations of the printing press, camera, digital drawing tablet, and Internet wasn't perfect either, so don't act like AI won't do what you're doing but more efficiently later on.

Thank fucking goodness. This was primarily what was worrying me about season 2 after Gainax died the way it did (quite painfully and deservedly): Being dubbed by the modern-day hellspawn known as Funimation Crunchyroll, especially with how Jamie and Monica turned out over the years and how Chris Sabat was dragged endlessly over the coalfires online for voicing a pedophilic faggot nigger (Garterbelt).
That and also the mainstream American political climate two years ago when it was first announced, since extremely offensive humor on the level of P&S was considered taboo by virtually all of the mainstream back then and a Crunchyroll dub done in 2025 for this show would have been downright dogshit compared to the amount of shit you could get away with back in 2012.

But now, pretty much everything's all set for this to be an absolute fucking banger of a much-anticipated, long-awaited season, even in the dub where I previously thought all hope was lost. Can't wait.

It does.

TLDR, this is what happened with Roger Allers, the director who started on The Emperir's New Groove. It was his story idea, but it was very different from the final film, and now he can't even restart by doing the project on his own, how he wants it.

Always remember that it's just a tool - it cannot replace the master. If a tool replaces someone - chances are they were figuratively a tool to begin with.

Do you guys think if tumblr didn’t ban porn or it never existed we wouldn’t have this happening
