Dude this is something bothered me about the show as a kid and why I didn't get into it. I was confused about them and how they function within their world because that was big part of the series premise. I don't need complete iron tight continuity, just basic principles.

Just look at Powerpuff Girls. It doesn't just forget that girls are superpowered even though the powers loosely defined and mostly work with rule of cool, dramatic and funny. The show simply establishes they are nice girls that prefer use their ultra superpowers responsibly. Plus the girls still use their powers beyond crime fighting for housework, impressing others kids and other petty stuff.
I'll give you the real answer:

... Who do think actually runs that world?

Who would benefit from such unimaginable power not being harnessed?

Those fucking Imaginary "Friends"! :stress:

I think Foster's suffered greatly because it didn't have firm enough grip on the impact of the imagery friends in the world. By all purposes almost anyone could create imagery friends from nothing (we actually saw Mac's brother doing this) and those friends had practically no limits on their powers. Why would something like this be seen as childish rather than root to absolute control over everything? A friend that could a super soldier, create infinite food, healing touch and so on.

This comic was made for those questioning the logistics of imaginary friends:

This is referred to as "missing the point".

The worst part is that it tells me he truly doesn't understand that Bioshock is a critique of libertine Ayn Randian ideals moreso than any other political belief.
Which is pretty nutty given Bioshock 1 could not be trying harder to make it clear that's the ideology it's attacking.

Infinite muddies things a like by being much more generic "right wing man bad" though.

Not really, Infinite is much more "America bad" than "right wing bad". It's really really focused on the racism and nationalistic pride moreso than one side or the other. I suppose you could take that as an attack on the right wing specifically but for me it comes across as more just generally anti-america.

I don’t remember watching a whole lot of Foster’s, but man I just remembered how fucked up Coco’s backstory was.

Just some nice little implication that this poor stranded kid probably died on that island.

I know you're getting razzed on for this but I'm with you on it; I get it isn't the point of the show, but it is an interesting consequence of the lack of worldbuilding. They even touched on some of this issue with an official comic where a little boy imagines a bimbo version of Frankie because he has a crush on her:

Imo, it's not a hard fix for the show to make. Just say that only people with strong imaginations can see/make imaginary friends or be affected by them (so no super soldiers, dangerous monsters, or bombs,) imaginary friends don't eat REAL food but imaginary food (that isn't sentient and doesn't take real food from people,) imaginary friends can't be killed (so no eating them alive,) and most people lose their imagination as they age and that's why imaginary friends end up at Foster's. Their child stops seeing them/being affected by them, so they move on to another kid (or in this case, a foster home.)
None of it's against the spirit of the show, and some of that could even be used for storytelling purposes. Imagine Mac finding out a friend at Foster's was Terence's and realizing that as you age, your imagination fades and your friends "fade away," and Mac doesn't want Bloo to "fade away" so he starts acting more childish, afraid of growing up. It's basically what Fairly Odd Parents did, the rules provide a baseline for how the world works and why it hasn't fallen completely to hell/become something super different from our world.

You know I'd love to actually see a game that would actually take the realities of a 3rd world country, make them either fantasy or sci fi with a solid shooter as a critic against 3rd world mindsets and mentalities. India would be almost perfect for this but I doubt it would go over well with feeble minded people.

Most computer games take place in a 3rd world country if you really think about it.
You go around killing, destroying and stealing with little consequence. Usually employed by some terrorist group, private military or an arm of the state.
E: Forgot to mention. Lorne Lanning has stated that the first 2 Oddworld games were set in a 3rd world nation on Oddworld and that he wanted to explore the developed world in the later games.
This was before he decided that Squeek was fucking gay and the entire continuity started to stagnate.

They've done that already, it was called Far Cry 2 and it was fantastic. Alternatively the S.T.A.L.K.E.R series or basically any survival game made by Slavs is like this since that's just daily life for them.

i feel like all or rather most cartoonists are somewhat insufferable in some degree but some are just more insufferable than others imo
I think most artists* in general are insufferable. You kind of have to be if you want to be successful in the arts; between self-promotion, studying and perfecting your niche skill that for 99% of people is just a hobby done shoddily once in a blue moon, and having the free time/money to devote your life to it (especially if you go to college for it!) you need tons of confidence and at least a pinch of autistic passion. That's bound to create annoying people more often than it doesn't. Humble, grounded, realistic people don't become big artists.

An exception does not disprove the rule.

I know. But it would be nice to see an artist in this day and age just do what they enjoy doing and not make a big fuss about everything and making it everyone else's problem for once. I would like another Zdzisław Beksiński or something. Just minding his business and doing what he enjoys (making horrors within our comprehension)—minus the unfortunate stabbing, though.

Dumbsville made a new video critiquing Bioshock, which doesn't really matter, but this disclaimer he made did made me smirk a little. He immediately thinks "Someone isn't interested in watching my video that pertain to politics?" with "They must be an overly sensitive right winger who sucks off to other right wingers/Youtubers I don't like." I swear he had similar disclaimers from his older videos but I can't find them.

And lol to "sensitive fragile worldview" when leftists like you crash out over the mildest non-politically correct joke/meme/topic.

And it gets even more funny when you realize that this was ONLY made because he got butthurt about an HAZBIN REDDITOR felting him constantly until his ex-friend from college who happened to love the bioshock games got involved...

They exist they're just not Officially Sanctioned Big League 'Made It' Artists. They're all at a modest 'able to live off of it' tier of money and fame - even though their writing, art, voice acting, character design etc. are all leagues above the big Made It studios. I usually think of Tracy Butler in particular when I think of talent that's been sidelined and so slogs the hard road of sole-proprietorship. (And to make her show she inevitably had to team up with Glitch.)
