Could be a real movie. Catfishing was big in the news a while back when some football player or something admitted he was catfished. I recall a bunch of news outlets talked about the evils of trolling and cyber-bullying for a week or two.

And yes, I think Chris would promote this movie way more than he rambled on about that one about Cyber-bullying.

this movie came out before mante teo.

Edited for an editorial link http://www.bostonglobe.com/ideas/20...ot-its-name/inqu9zV8RQ7j19BRGQkH7H/story.html
The funny thing is, I'd always assumed that Teo made the catfishing story up to make himself look like a victim after being caught in a lie (his girlfriend who allegedly died in a car accident didn't exist). I say this because he used to say he met the girl a few times IRL, but when it was proven she never existed he changed his story fast.

Nah, just a little deep research on the CWCki. In one of Chris' Skype conversations with Julie, she gives him the address to go to, and so I just put that into Google Maps and it happened to have a street view image. For some reason the address isn't on the main Ohio Trip page.

I also looked up Panda's address in Australia (found in a similar manner), and there's a street view image. It looks like some dilapidated warehouse in a rural area.

Funny enough, you can't bring up a street view image of 14 Branchland.

Slightly Off Topic but I still think the movie was faked. I just think it was way too coincidental to be legitimate. I mean filming the relationship from the start and it becomes this mystery with fake personalities? I call shenanigans. Also hated how it was shown in previews. They sold it like a horror movie but it's a fat redneck with a mentally disabled kid??? That's the surprise? Bullshit.

This. The woman was legit and trying to trick people but the guys knew from the beginning she was lying and realized it'd make an interesting film. When they'd catch her lying they'd barely confront her about it because they were afraid she'd freak out and break off contact.

This movie was trolls trolling a troll.
Anyone who believes this movie wasn't staged from the beginning would probably also believe that Chris's girlfriends weren't also staged from the beginning.

Well we still do get the occasional "Was Jackie a TRUE and HONEST heartsweet" so you never know.

I wish someone would make a movie or a cartoon about the Bluespike :julay: saga. It would make millions. Of all the sagas, that one was my personal favorite. I'm surprised noone has made a movie inspired by Chris Chan. Or even a novel inspired by him. Or even better, Chris Chan the musical. Every time I think of how he could make money off his stories, but chooses not to, I just do a face palm.

Did anybody see the Catfish television series based on the film? Where they look at like...10 different couples who met online and arranged to have them meet in real life?

It's amazing how many of them were totally lying, actually women or actually men when they claimed the opposite, etc. It's pretty amazing.

I haven't. I'm assuming that's what the SNL sketch is parodying though though?

Yep. It's pretty much exactly like how they parodied, which is kinda why the SNL parody wasn't that funny. It's literally how it is everytime.

The first episode was this idiot blonde girl who was all obsessed with her internet boyfriend who was (get this) an international supermodel who studied to be an anesthesiologist online (you need medical school and a 4 year residency to be an anesthesiologist).

The "boyfriend" wound up being a 17 year old girl in a crappy house in the middle of nowhere.

Pretty much the whole series is Bluespike saga.

Wow. That does sound pretty entertaining, I admit. :D

CatFish is one of the few shows on MTV I can tolerate simply because it gets crazy by the end of the episode. I've wondered if Chris has ever saw an episode? How amazing would it be if Chris wrote into the show and they filmed his story? Not that he would ever do it, not now anyway, maybe back in the day.

I think they mostly focus on stories that are happening right now. Like, modern stories.

Yeah, they are, but come on...you know Chris will probably be baited in some way or form in the future. I just find it hard to believe he won't slip back into his old ways...
