Chainsaw Man - Peak Fiction in the making

Happy Birthday, and good choice lol
Got a fairly decent amount of extra cash, figured I’d treat myself to a birthday present and bought the full set of Part 1. Didn’t realize it was just 11 volumes.

Also, the end of Katana Man arc is about midway through the manga, so I guess the anime did pace it out right.

Imagine.

Just read the new chapter

I guess we met Kobeni's brother who acts the exact same as her, which I didn't expect.

Yoshida probably means that Denji is unlikely to reveal he's Chainsaw Man to the others, hopefully this is wrong.

Devil Hunter Club President is a dick and hope he gets his ass kicked.

I love Asa's dynamic with Denji, but I feel bad for the autist girl.

I wonder if having Kobeni (male) show up means we will see her return or not. I was a bit iffy about whether having the Eternity devil show up again would be interesting, but the school safety dudes showing up, plus Yoshida does make it interesting.

The fact that it seems to be repeating similar beats to the original Eternity Devil Arc makes me think we’re being lulled into a false sense of security. Like I’ll be very surprised if Male Kobeni actually survives this experience.

Alright, MATI rant incomming:

Never had I've witnessed a performance so abhorant that made me want to stab a person's throat with an ice pick and wiggle it around like the crime lord's voice actor has. I could barely stand and sit through the scene just hearing this guy mumble his lines as if he'd just woken up from a 30 year coma.

I might be the only one but damn was that torture.

Yeah like its clear that something will probably go wrong (I can see it probably being due to the Club President or Yoshida).

I love that one of the final scenes we’re gonna get in this season is Denji and Ali bonding by gleefully kicking Katana Man in the duck over and over. And I hope it’s in slow motion and super big budget animated.

Fox devil is the weird one to me. It seems pretty monstrous but who the fuck is scared of foxes? Like I know it's a bit of a thing in Japan but even that seems like 50/50 between "they might trick you or something" and jerking off to em.
I suspect that some Devils are stronger in different parts of the world than others. For one, I don't think the Gun Devil should be nearly as OP in the US as opposed to Japan, since half the country generally see guns as a protective thing and a means of self-defense against criminals. In that same way, the Japanese may fear the Fox Devil more due to a pre-existing cultural wariness of foxes, but primarily that fear comes fear of the Fox Devil itself, kind of like a self-fulfilling endpoint of sorts if that makes sense.

Some Devils probably become powerful simply because they themselves are feared, rather than the thing they base their existence on being scary and vice versa. I'm anime only (I'll read part 2 after the Gun Devil Arc, I swear), but my understanding is that Chainsaw Man gets less powerful the more loved he is, which doesn't get wholly offset by a societal fear of chainsaws, essentially what I suspect but in reverse.

Your for the most part correct based on everything we have been shown, but chainsaw man may not be the chainsaw devil.

I won't spoil anything, but based on a very specific ability later on he is likely something a bit more primal.

I think none of the people they met are real, like the Eternity devil creates fake dopplegangers to drive Denji and Asa crazy and then attack them individually. Eternity isn't just the same room over and over, it's repeating the same situation with roughly the same people due to Denji's past

The funny part is that the way this is explained in the story, after the massive attack by the Gun Devil on multiple countries, there was a global push for gun control and eliminating civilian access to firearms in order to combat Gun Devil by making him weaker...only this had the exact opposite effect of making him stronger because it only increased civilian fear of guns, thus making Gun Devil stronger overall.

That's what shattered my suspension of disbelief a bit for me, because the idea of the US government trying to wholesale abolish the Second Amendment in the wake of the Gun Devil attack, and in the 1980s, is psychotic. Maybe that kind of stuff might work in Britain or Germany or the USSR, but even today a very large percentage of Americans would never willingly forfeit their guns to a higher authority, even in the face of a literal demon.

If anything, the U.S. Government would fear civilian firearm owners more because of their stronger potential to invoke the Gun Devil if the feds pissed enough of their constituents.

There is actually a sort of in canon explanation for how oddly countries and people are acting, but again its a huge spoiler and you need to see it for yourself.

Not related to thread topic, I have one question, actually curious. How come you keep getting someone name wrong? Like this is the third time I notice. This time is understandable, letter "k" and "L" on keyboard, but still.

First, mixing between Austrian orange woman (Kiara) and an American woman (Kira). At least, they surely love to cosplay openly. I'm fully aware this was around the period of "hating orange woman is cool".

I don’t check autocorrect.

So Kiga likely is as broad as Makima’s Domination thing. It’s probably not limited to literal starvation, but poverty, failure, and maybe misfortune. Saving Yuko was basically “tipping the scales” in Yuko’s favor and maybe giving her blood to regenerate.

New chapter came out and it was pretty good.

As for the anime, the final episode pretty much delivered though I liked the nutshot scene better in the manga. But it was nice to see Reze teased
