Charlottesville has several low-cost spay/neuter options but the reduced fee doesn't look like it's open to Greene County residents, so it'd have to be for a new owner. The same shelter I mentioned earlier offers a spay/neuter program and low-cost vaccinations. I wonder, if the animals are taken to a shelter, if we'd be able to sponsor them with funds raised from the forum (like Null is doing)? It'd be beyond heartbreaking to me for them to escape the Chandlers' hoard only to wind up euthanized in a crowded facility.

Scampers, Lucy, and Kitty may even qualify as feral if they've largely been living outdoors.

Else you know Chris would have been going on Facebook posting blurry pictures and asking people to "be on the lookout" for animals likely lacking identification, that don't answer to their names, and that have never been groomed. Or he'd have done some "mourning" post about his beloved pets.

So they potentially lost everything and you want to take their pets too? Just let them get their life back together then you can go on your quest to save the dogs. Are their living conditions deplorable? Yes. Is now the time to kick Chris while he's down? No.

1. Chris and Barb never had assembled lives in the first place. Ever.

2. Chris and Barb made their own rotten existences. They chose to be this way. Those poor animals are innocent and they did not ask for any of this. They shouldn't pay the price for Barb's hoarding and Chri's coffee dumbassery.

I dunno. Aside from blaming Keurig and soliciting charity donations, Chris has been pretty quiet. Perhaps the battery on that iPhone is running down.

I'd like to think that maybe he and Barb have been busy picking up the pieces of their lives and Chris hasn't had the time to waste talking about Pokemon or trying to figure out who or what to blame on the fire. Hell, this may be the busiest he's been in years.... orrrrrr he's just skulking around the motel room and having his mom do all the work in getting everything back together again.

OT, I'm pretty sure since they're working with State Farm, the animals they got out of the fire and accounted for are in some kind of shelter. I'm pretty sure Chris and Barb didn't kill and BBQ them at the Motel 6 they're living at for the interim. Once they move to their new digs, if the place isn't pet-friendly, I'm going to guess either we'll be seeing a post for them on Craigslist or they'll be going to a new family from the church. Long story short- I'm not going to say the Chandlers are the finest example of pet owners in the world, but they did bother do get their animals out of the fire in the first place: they're not going to just abandon them in some ditch.

After years (over a decade, in Lucy's case?) of living in human and animal feces, the pets need vet attention and a healthy environment. If I was the praying type, I'd be praying they don't go back to the Chandlers.

Are we actually sure that Chris and Barb did a damn thing to get the animals out? I think it's far more likely that the firefighters helped them, or they just ran outside on their own.

I never got the sense Chris gave much of a shit about the cats. Dogs are so naturally affectionate to anyone around them, they'd of course appeal to someone like Chris who wants the maximum amount of attention for the least amount of effort. Cats are different. Aside from the occasional "pretty kitty!", Chris has never seemed to interact with the cats at all...aside from that one hilarious video where he nearly got his face ripped off by Kitty. The cats are barely a blip on Chris' internal radar because they don't fawn all over him.
