We don't know where the pets are right now, is my concern. Since they're not housebroken and the cats are violent, if they are already at the local shelter and nobody steps in to specifically sponsor those particular pets they'll almost certainly be put down, because they wouldn't be considered "adoptable". If they're being put up at a vet by the insurance, it's a different story. Time is of the essence if they wound up at MGCHS.

I'm involved with animal rescue and fostering in my area and the staggering numbers of euthanized pets are very upsetting to me.

How do you know if the cats are violent? Yes, there's one video where one of his cats is hissing and spitting at him. It could just be that the cats don't like Chris. He's not exactly good with handling animals, remember the picture of him and one of his beagles? As for where the cats are, wherever it is it's most likely much cleaner and safer than in the Chandler hoard.

You're not the first person who's worked with animals that has expressed their concern to the local animal shelter about the health of the Chandler's pets. But just like the rest you got to realize that their's nothing you can do about it. The're not being abused and they're being fed, as far as the law and shelters concerned it's not their problem.

Yeah, nah, you're not going to be able to call the authorities on Chris for how they treat the dogs. And I guess I also wouldn't say they're being abused. I'd probably describe it more as neglect. And yeah, they are getting some kind of nourishment.

It's just incredibly shitty on Barb and Chris' part. It'd be great if they stopped being Barb and Chris for a bit and got rid of the animals. But of course, hell freezing over and whatnot.

Ok, hold up. Who said that the cats were 'violent'? Technically all cats are 'violent' or have the capacity to be if mishandled or disgruntled in any way...THEY'RE FUCKING CATS. The dogs are at least paper trained and that's definitely better than nothing, which at least shows that the Chandlers put a little effort into training the pups. From the photos, the dogs look to be in alright shape, if quite pudgy, and the cats just look like standard outdoor cats. There's no abuse to be seen here at all, and I think that Chris is too attached to the pets to ship them off to a shelter.

Say the pets are taken to a shelter, kept a while and then euthanized. I'm just going to say it - why should we give a damn? 'Worse things happen at sea', as my old ma would say. I love animals, and as I've put in other posts, I have quite a few years of animal care (kennels, boarding, stables, vets) under my own belt; I don't like seeing animals put to sleep on the grounds of shelter space but personally, it's just a drop in the ocean. It happens, but I honestly don't see the point of running down every case like this, regardless of who it is, to save the life of an animal. Yes the shelter system is flawed, but by no means should that mean phone calls to kennels, lack of sleep, or any kind of of any kind over a few animals that we don't even know the status of who are hundreds of miles away. It doesn't make any sense to me.

Let it be. What happens, happens. It's on nobody's conscience but Barb and Chris, and it's best to let it stay that way.

You're giving the Chandlers too much credit here. If those dogs had ANY training at all it'd of come from the breeder they were bought from. Barb is notoriously lazy and her little speshul snoflake isn't much better. Neither would devout enough time to teaching their dogs anything when that time could be spent on vidya, fetching q-sands or sleeping.

I beg to differ. Beagles are rather difficult to train as their sense of smell is very strong, so they are easily distracted by scents (let's be honest, in the Chandler house, there much be a grand number of crazy smells). Depending on how old the pups were when he got them, training like that would have had to be reinforced to stick with a breed like that. Maybe you're right though, if he got them when they were a little older. Who knows!

I've been wondering about the cats, especially. Even if they are outdoor cats, they're probably (hopefully) used to being fed. I hope those two haven't left them to fend for themselves outdoors in the middle of winter. I had had the impression that they were at least let in once in a while, but if that house is all but abandoned now, where could they be able to warm up at night? Anybody know whether or not Chris and Blarg even bothered with the cats?
