Because it doesn't fall under the conondrums of biology. Furries are people despite what some of them say, just like the rest of us, and function through the same mechanisms. The only different thing is enviroment. Therefore, social factors are at play.
I've never properly systemised my observations of furries, nor did I conducted a proper observation, so the following information might not be very accurate on the grand scale, but here's some of my speculation why there's so much gays.
1. Furry fandom is very acceptive and themes of eroticism and pornography are very pronounced. So, it would be natural for people who interested in that consider joining. Plus, while being gay(mostly true for people who have "being gay" as the defining trait of their personalities) in RL is somewhat frowned upon by a percent of the population, if you're just gay in furry fandom, you would be considered very normal.
2. Hedonism. Not as a phylosophical paradigm, but as an escalation of erotic stimulus. Continuous and intense consumption of pornography might render normal stuff unstimulating. So, at that point more extreme stimuli must be administered. And there's no shortage of that in furry artwork. Espechially the ones that border normal stuff. And form there it can escalate even further. For some shitting dick-nipples become appealing. For some every hole becomes a goal.
3. Virtual commitment. I have a theory, that a sizable amount of those who get off on gay furry art might not actually be proper homosexuals. Janking ones willy to wolf-humanoids having buttsex and inserting somebodys penis in ones ass commands different levels of commitment, I would imagine. Also I speculate that many legitimise it unconsciously: "I'm already a furry, what's to loose?"
4. Social circles. It mostly reinforces the factors I've already listed. Works same as other groups, but with porn.
