Character Reference Sheets: a Visual Guide to Autism - OC, DONUT STEEL!

Nelnal, an artist from Japan that likes to do character designs and has grown a audience. Most are really inspired by her designs, and they're all over Pinterest too.

But apparently, like most of these artists, has a hate boner when someone is inspired by her work. I have my own experience with them, whereas she was my biggest inspiration out of all my others, and eventually when I posted one of my drawings, crediting my source of inspiration, I am contacted privately because Nelnal had a problem with it.

I come across this on Twitter, another artist, drawing after Nelnal, and all of that comes crashing back. Like what the hell, you have +90k, are you searching up art on twitter just to see if someone is 'stealing' your designs? This user didn't even tag her. Also yeah, totally twins. I see the similarities, but these are different characters beyond the close pallet.

You guys haven't really touched on how retarded her prices can get.

This design sold for $250 and she didn't even draw the lines, it's a paid base by an artist by the name of Vani.

These sold for $200 each.

That's over $1000 for art she didn't even draw and just filled the lines for.

You can see more of the inflated prices by going to her Toyhouse and going to designs, then clicking the ownership tab on each one to see what she sold them for. The cheapest ones usually go for $80 for very simple same-y concepts on a base.
wait 1k for basic ass designs? I have seen such designs everywhere. Not to mention that most line owners are strictly against profit being made from their bases. But I never understood the point of adopts, like...You can make the design yourself sometimes, cus most of them are not even that original, to begin with.

Vani and other artists allow profit to be made from their bases as part of their TOS upon purchase. Usually the ones you see disallowing profit are the free bases.

This seems to be a big thing with big name artists. Haven forbid you mention where they get inspiration from and don't you dare take inspiration from them or use the same source. Honestly it's a pinata girl. There's been a good number done by numerous other people. You can tell that Amy certainly took inspiration from Nelnal but it's changed enough that you know that it's not the same character. If you were to slap on a different color palette and changed nothing else I wonder if Nelnal would still say shit or shut up.

I notice that Nelnal becomes defensive when some comments that are friendly and say it reminds them of "insert media" she goes up in arms and states she created her thing before them.

An artist called Unknownspy does the same thing, though replies everytime to comments on their Instagram with: :/

That seems pretty childish. I get being upset if someone obviously and provably copied you. But with how much media there is, the number of artists, and trends, there's going to be people who make similar art to you. It's just how it is.

And to the white person who said that the KKK still exists, why haven't they provided evidence if that is the case?

I thought it was cringe as fuck seeing this, but now I'm in full support seeing people freak out and tryna speak about "POC troubles"?

Nah, this is brilliant. And as an artist, I support freedom of expression- no matter how fucked up. Drawing a KKK furry ain't illegal.

They do jack shit about stuff happening in the world and instead spend their time whining about a damn KKK furry, like unless the artist themselves is committing arson, it isn't hurting anyone... or err... those poor defenseless POCs.
