Not really true. He survived by being the "perfect woman" if you wanna use a dumb stereotype for humor to accurately describe it. He fence rides hard, keeps his head down to avoid attracting people that could/would threaten him, constantly gases himself up as "not as bad" when it comes to criticizing the shit out of others, grandstands hard and typically from a safe distance and is pretty much the type that goes belly up constantly to not appear a threat, only pick beef that's either fake or against really weak targets
that it's not hard to look better than. He even argues like a woman, where he hyperfuxates on "the topic" while clearly complaining about things he is blatantly a hypocrite about.
He's pretty much nagging about things he does just like other people he criticizes. Like take him bitching super hard over people promoting gambling to kids, a social addiction that harms people's lives. Sure that's correct, but this is also coming from an idiot that has and continues to in some cases promote:

Alcohol addiction
Sells caffeine, a legal but literally addictive substance
To pretty much the same audiences and ages. That's just off the top of my head, with him having shared stories of going out drinking, devolving into the sexual degenerate side of his own mind hard and selling "gamer supps" to a large section of his own underage audience. It doesn't take much critical thoughts to point out he is right, there are bad and scary things to promote to kids and adults online, and gambling is one of them. So is sex and drugs, two things he has heavily endorsed and exposed kids to, even so far to directly point out the parallel of how ethically he has sold legal addictive drugs to his own impressionable audience for personal profit in a manner we could also call exploitation.
But his defense is typically "that wasn't my intention, I'm just a weak small moron that isn't doing anything bad or harmful". It's worked over dumb shit drama that works as a character battle, but the only thing that's in the way of his ass being on blast over something more serious is actually no mature adult wants to deep dive through the disgusting degree of quantity of largely mid content to build a strong timeline that actually points out all of Charlie's shortcomings and decisions.
It would take a lot of work, but it wouldn't be hard for someone to point out he's pretty much chrischan and keemstar blended at this point, that could be made fun of and insulted for being a massive hypocrite. All it would take is some degree of competence in writing a script, because you basically have to be smart enough to point out how Charlie is pretty much an asshole making bank of shit content and drama, shitting on people in much less fortunate positions than him and remind the audience that Charlie has literally done everything he mocks/puts down others for. Which shouldn't be surprising, he's pretty much a textbook man child. Which is mostly a problem because nothing is added to any "issue" he talks about by having a moron that is typically guilty of being a creep, weirdo or even blatantly rude insult others while lacking the empathy for the overlap. I mean, ffs, they put a schizo guy that had clear mental issues on the podcast they had and are lucky it didn't get pointed out they mocked and ridiculed this guy clearly going through some serious problems for content. The schizo I believe ended up offing himself not to long after that.
It's honestly a pretty fucked situation. I wouldn't call any of it intentional, but it stands as a great example for how dumb it is people listen to Charlie's takes on how to treat others. There are some far more serious things people could throw at him, I just don't think anyone has made that attempt yet if they really wanted to stick it to him.
