OpenAI’s ChatGPT experienced a massive outage in India and other parts of the world, leaving thousands of users frustrated and unable to access the AI. The disruption reportedly happened due to a sudden surge in demand, possibly from users generating AI images and text. Many took to social media to report issues, sharing memes and complaints.

According to the outage-tracking website Downdetector, the spikes started around 6:30 PM and so far, around 18,000 users have reported issues related to the OpenAI outage. Most of the reported issues were with ChatGPT (95 per cent), while DALL·E had 3 per cent of the problems and Sora had 2 per cent.

The ChatGPT maker faced similar issues last night as well. On Tuesday evening, Downdetector indicated that 1,594 users reported issues with OpenAI’s services globally, with 94 per cent of the reported outages specific to ChatGPT. This outage raises further questions about whether OpenAI can manage the increasing demand for advanced generative AI content.

Many ChatGPT users were frustrated by the unexpected outage and shared their complaints on X (formerly Twitter). Several joined in on the meme trend to express their disappointment.

"ChatGPT is down so I may as well take the rest of the day off," a user wrote on X.

"ChatGPT is down, so there goes my productivity for the day," another ChatGPT user posted on the Elon Musk-owned platform.

"Yes it has gone down and following are the reasons: - Using ChatGPT more than Google or Gemini because it gathers info & presents collectively. - Gemini sucks - Have stopped trusting info shared on Google via blogs. But what has gone up is, researches & proof-checks via ChatGPT," an X user posted.

"ChatGPT appears to be down. They are really struggling with infra since the new image model dropped. They might have bitten off more than they can chew," an X user wrote.

Isn't ChatGtP the only AI picture maker that doesn't allow for reference pic or anything remotely controversial like military or police or softcore fetish stuff let alone fighting and violence? I can get Hailou to make photos and videos of blindfolded and gagged Marines kissing each other and porn star Jonah Wheeler dressed various fetish outfit but with ChatGtP I can't even get a photo of John Cena and King Kong fighting Orange Cassidy and Mothra without jumping through hoops creating off brand imitations versions of them.
