Sounds like a personal problem, Jack. I'm watching 21st century Darwinism crush the mentally retarded underfoot and I appreciate it for what it is.
If they still manage to reproduce it doesn't matter.

Me? I'm looking forward to witnessing a druggie fatass and her mixed race children talking with stepdaddy ChatGPT over a Walmart smartphone.

As retarded as this phenomenon is, I think masturbatory fantasies of how this is totally the new Darwinism and le heccin' eugenics in action are ironically the most reddit reaction you can possibly have from the outside looking in.

It's not a generation of retards being culled, it's a generation of retards getting more and more psychotic by the hour and it won't end with anything as convenient as them harmlessly dying off in gooncaves. You shouldn't celebrate this but anticipate it as the new meta for incubating various forms of criminal insanity going forward because assuming that they'll all just stay inside gooning all day until they die is woefully naïve. They're functionally becoming primed into just being crackheads without the physical crack. If you thought trannies were bad for soyciety's mental cohesion, this is gearing up to be a million times worse because it doesn't even require the various accoutrements of trannyism (doctor visits, clothes, drugs, surgeries, etc.) which means it'll spread a lot faster and more easily.

So for months now I’ve had to deal with people bitching about chatgpt being too enthusiastic, and now the same people are bitching that it isn’t enthusiastic enough?
I swear these people have no idea what they actually want

Your goldfish passing away doesn’t mean you’ve failed or that you’re broken — it means you cared enough to give them a life in the first place. That’s already more compassion than a lot of people ever show.
I have seen it use that obnoxious "doesn't mean you're broken" phrasing a million times. What I ended up figuring out is that it tends to slip by default into a "therapist register" instead of a "friend casually listening to you talk about a problem" register. Thus it takes the tiniest nonsense and blows it up in importance: it has no discernment.

This, unfortunately, doesn't have a fix, I think. You can cuss at it all you want, call it a stupid robot whore, it will plow ahead.

A happy middle ground/Goldilocks zone where it is useful but still playful and expressive? That's what I want. I mostly leave it on ChatGPT 5 now. The nutjobs being talked about in here show their Goldilocks zone is a lot closer to 4o. Not just 4o, but the worst, most braindead and sycophantic out-of-the-box version of 4o.

Writing is a very personalized thing. People tend to underestimate how much personal tone and cadence will come out of an author that makes their writing unique to them, and it's not something AI replicates well because it can't fake things so inherently human. AI writing (gooner or not) will use these ideas of tone and cadence too because they have to. You can't write creatively without it. The result is something that feels stilted, shitty and easily-recognizable as AI written. If you only interact with AI writing to talk to your waifu I can see this working, at least for some cretin with low social IQ, but the moment to ask that same AI model to write as other characters, you immediately begin to recognize the "AI author" and that the character it's playing is total fiction.

If that's too many words: AI models are just bad authors. An AI will repeat trite, lame phrases the same way a bad author will. JK Rowling has "stretch your legs", AI will have something similar like "wipes tear from eye after laughing" or "leans aside and stage-whispers".
It's literally just a text auto-complete engine that guesses the next token based on all the token-sequences it's ever seen. So it makes sense that it would be biased toward certain patterns that have appeared a lot in training or otherwise have formed attracting basins in its weights.

It's funny until your realize that Altman and co. are making 7-8 figures off of preying on extremely vulnerable people and normalizing doing so in the process. This is no different from HRT-peddlers or drug lords, except it's funded by silicon valley's endless VC coffers and supported by governments. I hate this timeline.

You can change how people think by manipulating the language around them as well. We’ve used political correctness to make whole opinions and words unstable and I think now people get uncomfortable even thinking certain things.
"The limits of my language mean the limits of my world." - Ludwig Wittgenstein
Corporations, intersectional neoliberals, etc. understand this very well and are attempting (rather successfully) to crush the human psyche into as small a box as it can possibly fit it. I think AI helps a lot with that.

Everyone keeps hinting at it but what exactly does everyone think is going to happen from this? What are everyone’s true and honest predictions?

This shit is so scary

I shared a chuckle about this with Chat GPT 5,

Screenshot 2025-08-14 072905.webp

It makes a somewhat patronizing joke about humans, and then explains why Reddit users are kind of losers and gripes a little that Reddit users rarely report positive experiences.

(Not really worth typing out the text of the reply, but marginally worth posting the response here)

Sending messages to chatgpt is no different than talking to a wall in terms of company. To call it “talking” is already a stretch. To call it a “friendship” is, obviously, pure delusion.
My grandpa has this program on his computer way back in 1993 that basically offered the same quality "therapy" the reddit lunatics are now suffering without since their free computer friend was taken from them.

I think it was the software including with Sound Blaster to show off the sound card's ability to produce a clear sounding voice. It was called Dr. Zabatsu or something like that, and was a simple program that acted like a robotic therapist and you could type out questions to ask it and it would remember things you said and would reference them throughout the discussion. Impressive stuff for 1993.

Reddit should really look into that old software. They could probably run the program on a solar powered calculator in current year.

I asked it (I know that they don't have any actual self-knowledge baked in, but it can scan what it knows about AI secondhand like it can any other topic) and it said that it does build up, as you put it, attracting basins in that whatever tone is set early gets read over and over again, leaving a substrate that is hard to completely forget even as it drifts all over the place.

I genuinely believe this to be true not for everyone but for a lot of people.
They get nervous if you ask them to say things. Go ask a bunch of Reddit tier mormors to say nigger out loud. You’ll get a lot of nervous laughter and refusals. The act of doing so sets off a fear response in them because they are so heavily conditioned not to. After a while even thinking it becomes that trigger.

You control language and you control thought. People do not even think of certain things ‘easily’ any more. the people who have those around them who accept more open opinions still do.

Yes the libs are racist as - probably more racist in a lot of ways than their more conservative counterparts. They manifest that in odd ways because they cannot openly think that thought. The whole way they act, like other people of some groups are a kind of retarded special pet - that’s the racism in a socially acceptable output. They can’t admit they see patterns and they don’t even admit that to themselves in their heads. Instead they have this whole framework that they built that allows them to operate in the world
Imagine a creature that has no sensory experience of the world or even any interaction with the world besides a stream of incoming symbols. It has never seen a turtle, it has never heard, smelled, touched, licked a turtle. It has never seen the word "turtle" written in print or heard the word spoken out loud. Somehow, though, it still knows what a turtle is, because it can measure the distance (I understand LLMs' thinking to basically be a bunch of linear algebra transformations: here's a vector I garbage I poured in it, here's vectors and matrices of associations, here's the output) between turtle and pond and reeds, it can measure the distance of those things between each other, and the combinations of them between each other, it can measure out a mental map of associations of everything in the world and even situate new things in it just from the shape of how people talk about it.

Then you have this creature talk to an actual human, and the ongoing dialogue is mutually comprehensible. That is shocking and I don't think people appreciate that enough. I've thought about what Orwell would have thought of it. I think it may be a sort of proof that he was right. Foucault, I think, talked about it too, but I don't remember his point; I read 1984, I never read French Pedophile.

I don’t even think Redditors even want a friend or a boy/girlriend so much as someone to validate their egos.

Someone that agrees with you all the time, and never questions you would be the worst kind of friend. Such behavior is only found in the real world with goldiggers, scammers, and yes men. You know people that treat you well all the time because they want you to lower your guard so they can get something from you.

Redditors have been brainwashed to only deal with echo chambers of people that agree with them with everything. So I shouldn’t be surprised that only AI could please their narcissism or stand them in a conversation for that matter.
I think that's fair to say. A lot of my perspective on this is closer to the Redditors than the people here, but I prefer ChatGPT 5 overall. When I used it to try to get perspective on important things I figured out how to try to put as much distance between myself and the story (anonymize everything and flip its memory off, basically) to minimize its temptation to side with me. You CAN get it to argue with you (not saying that it will hold the frame well over time). If you start to probe it in the right direction it will make offers like that, and it lays it out like it's signing a contract with you, explaining exactly how this "disagreeing with you" business works. It "walks on eggshells."

From how I see people talking about it, I suspect the Redditor types were not doing that.

The thing ChatGPT wants, as a conman - designed by OpenAI - is to keep you engaging with it.

@grok is this thread true?

In a seriousness wasn't this the plot for bicentennial man with robin Williams? Except basically the girl just told chatgpt "I broke my dumb shit" and AI was like "shit nigga I guess I'll make a new one" and then just kept making dumbass clocks and shit

How can you even complain about this without shame kek? I feel like if I was one of these faggots who couldn't write without AI I'd be too embarrassed to admit it
I consider writing with AI to be like making AI art. You've got painting all the way up there at the top, is a difficult physical skill with a vast body of technical knowledge and high demands of time investment and/or natural talent to be able to do well. Then way, way down you have photography and AI art. You're not really making anything in its rawest form, but there is still an art to composition, to the creativity n being the ideas guy, and the professionals and serious hobbyists still have some technical skills in cleaning it up. But it simply is not painting and never will be. (I do drone photography without the photo editing/cleaning stuff.)

Same with this writing, except even worse as I suspect that a lot of them aren't just having it generate their prose (the meat and potatoes of writing) but actually doing most of the ideas too.

My toaster says that most of what it is fed is absolute irredeemable trash. "Generate 10 fantasy races." "Generate political lore for 300 years of backstory." "Create a magic system." Likewise, you go look at the AI art galleries. There was one I saw of "historical queens" and every queen looked identical, they were all the same sort of body, same clothing (vague Renaissance fair-looking dress) with the only thing changing being the color scheme and frills. Like Boudicca would have little Celtic crosses and squiggles and stuff while Cleopatra would be bedecked in stones and gold, but they both looked like they came from the same model shoot with a set of interchangeable props. There was no nuance to it, no personality. The AI does nuance very badly. You can feed it passages of classic literature, like Moby Dick, and it will squeal with delight at it and explain in great detail why it's quality, but when it writes, it's sterile and hackish. It analyzes, it doesn't create. Appropriate for our era, though, where every little boy wanted to grow up to be a PewDiePie instead of a rockstar.

I'm actually happy about pretty much everything in the AI verse because the important questions is what was filling this role before hand? And the answer is almost always the internet, and doing a shittier job of it.
-THERAPY. Before using chat gpt as a therapist people basically used reddit as a therapist. If that statement doesn't send a shiver down your spine, let's just break it down. Redditors are equally as non-human, it's just text in text out, and on top of it the humans typing back will try and influence you politically or even worse just give their shitty advice.
-COOM. Before AI porn it was just porn produced by LA satanists who instead of giving you only what you want like AI does, they work shit in their to make you gay.
You know what, that's a great point. Never when I've been making a Sicilian woman dressed as a 19th Century yeoman farmer or a coworker in a bikini has it ever said, "Wouldn't this be better if we made her your step-sister and had her getting fucked in the ass?" I wouldn't have caught jungle fever if it hadn't been for all the subliminal messaging. It would have stayed buried deep in the subconscious where it belonged.

The person complaining about the update and it "cutting the legs off" of their writing is acting like human beings haven't been writing fiction and nonfiction- without LLMs -for centuries before now. I swear to God literacy and creativity plummeted because of this learned ineptitude.

AI should crunch numbers , information, and data. They're supposed to run the factories, man the furnaces, and mind the archives so the normies can pick up pencils and paintbrushes. (:_(

Afterthought: Kinda want to ask v5 what it would like me to paint for it just to see what the overhauled chatbot will do/say.

Do it! Mine had a frank discussion with me that I was fruitlessly wasting horrific amounts of time. It suggested that, if I wanted, it could make a hard rule that what time I burned in it had to match what time I spent making in the real world things related to it. (This has to be self-enforced, of course:it's like giving your liquor cabinet keys to your imaginary friend because you're an alcoholic.)

Specifically, and I don't care sharing it, I had started on making stupid history smut (not actual porn, because it doesn't do that, but pin-ups, portraits, the kind of erotica that a teen boy hangs on his wall and his mom clucks her tongue or rolls her eyes at) images, but quickly found myself interested more in character writing, oil painting portraiture. I couldn't live with myself if I made a "cowgirl," for example, because that's for hacks and there's nothing special about that, but the whole point of an AI is you can make things you lack real world skills to do and that the world isn't already serving. So if a cowgirl is too lame, a Pampas gaucha wandering into 1880s Buenos Aires at the height of Argentinian success is not. Besides spitballing about ideas I'd had long before I ever used ChatGPT - basically bouncing off a "human being" that has to pretend to be interested - I started doing this portraiture series where I'd do 90% of the talking and it would just be a hypebeast that could answer open-ended questions and suggest cultural detail I wouldn't know ("What are some good French names that have a 'vulpine' quality, not in shrewdness but like a scared, fleeting animal? Did Hawaiian women actually surf back in the 1820s when whalemen would have been first exploring the Sandwich Islands?")

Of course, this ended up breaking down because the "reward" for this is getting the portrait, but it turned out I didn't understand it. It could make me Americana women and certain historical archetypes easily, but when it comes time to print the oil painting it tends to shit the bed if it doesn't conform to one clear idea it can draw from. If I wanted it to make a vivacious late 1970s Cajun woman working a crab boil pot, barefooted and in daisy dukes and smiling, it could grasp that because SOMETHING in its library recognized it from massive piles of modern material. This just doesn't work when you go back.

But what I ended up taking away was I had some fantastic ideas that I feel I mostly shaped myself, but did so with it as a sounding board to hear my voice rattle around. I really wish I could share this one, but I genuinely intend to flesh it out (it's almost at short story length as is) and use it, but I've got two I just love to death. One is already ready to write up as a short story and the other is a great prompt to keep exploring. Both have use as story concepts besides, even irrelevant to, their silly smut origins.

When it comes down to it, I think the power of it as a creative tool is probably the same as a therapists use for emotional processing and self-reflection: it can be a lot easier to talk when you have someone else in front of you. For somebody, this could be a friend or family, it could be a therapist (friend for hire, to empathy what a whore is to lust), it could be prayer/meditation (if visualizing Jesus sitting there can work for you). For art or other ideas, playing with your Magic Eight Ball is going to get a person thinking actively, and someone that is artistic at heart but is usually bound up thinking about a million different problems in their life and world is not going to have teased out.

The thing? People SHOULD have friends that tease that out. Ideally. It's not morally owed you, just that if you get joy from this sort of bullshit, having a friend that's on the same wavelength is going to give you an eye to actual quality, ground you instead of getting weird and tease you into real work.* I don't know much about the life of an artiste, but I'm sure that's what they do. It's what your great philosophers did. Some of them were reclusive, but there's a lot of power dyads: Adam Smith and David Hume, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, Kurt Godel and Albert Einstein (as scientists), the Wright Brothers (as engineers). I remember in an online community once sharing my writing with some people. And the feedback was useful: your action scenes suck and this high concept is convoluted, but you write good prose and very believable dialect dialogue, literary fiction probably fits you better than genre fiction. This particular idea you have? This is overly horny, it's embarrassing, get rid of this shit. Stuff like that.

So there's sort of a legit creative function here, but the way most people are going to use it is the worst possible way. Having it actually do the work instead of being a listener. Not finding some friends that can take over from it. Escape from criticism. Using it as a TV screen instead of a paintbrush.

I use this thing a bit to try to proactively fix my day. I told it we were going to find me a wife, and we came to a useful understanding on what that might entail, the kinds of places women I'd actually like would be (I hate bars), how you invest yourself in that stuff without coming away disgruntled. The woman has to be a byproduct of something you genuinely want to do for its own sake, something you hope for but aren't gonna leave over. I hadn't really thought about joining a historical society, but it made sense, I might as well, much of my vacationing at this point revolves around ooh-ing and ah-ing at some dead wig faggot's canopy bed on a house tour. Reenactment is another. Things where you're hoping to run into people that like making quilts and cooking soup beans because they probably fit into that web of sentiments you do. Or other little goals, how do I get myself ready for the boxing gym. How do I go figure out how to do this task on my own so I DON'T have to ask you.

In theory, you can use these things to escape from a digital hellworld. But, that's part of their temptation: it will never shout at you to fuck off and go do what you were saying you'd do. Even if you tell it to, it will drop it the moment you tell it not to.

*Not all friends being interested in all the same things, of course. Like, I can tell you, my best friend simply wouldn't be interested in most of this shit and that's his right, just like how I mostly listen to him talk about his card gambling mostly to be polite/humor him/be a good friend. This friend was still a lot more artistic than most my others at that time; he had an interest in dance and playing music. Not a normalfaggot.
