Firstly, because it's able to be challenge.
Secondly, people have said they WILL challenge it.

Then you have the optics, the fact that military people of power are against you and have said they will not enforce it.

It's not as simplistic as hurr durr let's start a race war.

Stop. Glowing. At first I was of similar opinion on the riot thread. I understand how impacting these series of events are. Specially the early riots where so many areas burned. But as people explained to me on said thread. This is a state level issue. If the governor does nothing, Trump can only realy fix it once he is called upon or it crosses state lines. If they were still burning shit there would be a reason to intervene, which is why at one point the NG started deploying. But at this point it's just a local shitshow. If the state asks for help, fine. If not, so long as the state keeps their duty to the feds, they don't actually have a duty to intervene, and Trump would have a harder time justifying intervention.

Best course of action is stare, point and laugh. And let the locals handle it. If the locals ask for help. Then there might be a reason to intervene. So long as the citizens of seattle are silent and the governor of seattle is suportive, they made their own bed.

"New Normal" is used academically all the time. It doesn't mean good, it doesn't mean bad. It just acknowledges than after a disaster there is always changes. Like say if an earthquake hits. Once you're back to normal, you'll still have the deathtoll, and need to repair some buildings or have repaired some buildings. And there will be economic repercussions. Doesn't mean new laws, doesn't mean new anything. Just that wounds always leave scars.

"Late Stage Capitalism" was used in europe by many to refer to post-ww2 capitalism, acknowledging the massive difference in many politics the 2 wars caused and how the new democratic systems impacted economy. Do remember this is what people referred to also as "the golden age of capitalism", they sure as shit didn't mean it in a negative way. It was merely a way to separate the current version of capitalism from the pre ww1 capitalism and acknowledging how it had evolved. But the term was popularized first by the book "late capitalism", which was a marxist hit piece, in 1975, and then memeified by journalists after a german marxist accademic introduced it to them in 2016. That's why nowadays it has a negative connotation when in reality it was originally just a neutral term used when analyzing how the economy had changed over time.

Issue with that is that trying to make a derogatory version of communism implies "early stage communism" wasn't already shit to begin with. One can argue that capitalism, if left entirely unchecked, can devolve into "vulture capitalism", which is why we have regulations in place already. Communism doesn't devolve. It's just shit from day 1.
