It's pretty standard practice when covering protests and riots. Even if they are fawning over the protesters on screen they aren't going to take any chances with them. It's kinda funny though when they are giving the "peaceful" line while bringing out security contractors that you'd usually see with journalists in war zones in some cases.

For me, the less plausible part is that the woman learned from her experience and changed her opinions. I won't discount any poster's lived experiences, though.

As someone with decades of experience in inner-city(80% of my time) and affluent students(20%), it was pretty spot on. The only caveat I would make is that the affluent can also have a Not MY child syndrome too.

It's a bitter pill to realize the system is rigged. For the inner-city it's due largely to the inter-generational (un)welfare rules and the psychology of impoverishment that develops in the minds and souls of these young, young kids. Heartbreaking and Admin just wants to pass them on, prepared for nothing but more (un)welfare.

That map reminds me of some commonalities in this protester/anarchist culture:
- There has to be coffee available at all times. It's like their soma or something
- They're complacent, not just content, to live in squalor amongst each other in tent cities
- They struggle to recreate things that already exist in a much better form. Instead of screaming 'medic!' the rest of us dial 911
- They can't design anything fulfilling or functional, they can only destroy what was already there
- They don't have any artistic skill. The streets, sidewalks and walls just get covered in babble

At Occupy Wall Street there was a stationary bike that people would ride on to generate electricity to charge phone and laptop batteries, only not enough people wanted to get on that bike and put in the effort to do it. Most people who show up after these things get established are just mooches, so the whole thing gets dragged down. I understand now why Stalin murdered so many of his own.

The protesters got cleared from 16th St. this morning (aka "BLM plaza" thanks to our the signal-y mayor). The city removed the "defund the police" street graffiti too, although that didn't stop Apple and Google from updating the satellite imagery immediately back when it was written. The mayor's main concern is property values, she can complain all she wants about Trump tweeting "there will be no autonomous zone in DC" but she's happy to stand back and let the streets be cleared when push comes to shove.
