Maybe I've not seen enough Southern black women in their native setting, but I tend to associate "y'all" with white Southerners.

I'm about as Southern as they come and I've lived here all my life and spent time around rural blacks and whites. There's a common shared culture and language in the rural areas. Y'all is just as much black as it is white. Also, racism is not some issue that's always boiling under the surface out in the country. You're just as likely to see a black guy wearing a rebel flag t-shirt and bow hunting as you would a white guy once you get out of the cities.
